Boasting a beautiful untouched shoreline and even tidal pools bustling with marine life, Hammocks Beach State Park Campground was made with your inner hippie in mind. Take off those oppressive shoes and socks and stroll the sandy beaches barefoot just as Mother Nature intended. Photography fans would do well to pack an old polaroid to capture the multi-colored salt marshes and laconic dunes of sand. Go on, use that searing sun to dry your newly tie-dyed shirts. Groovy, man.

Fires are not allowed on Bear Island nor is alcohol. You must also walk about a mile with your gear from the ferry. It is primitive camping at its best.
