Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
The Ranch is a special place in Santee and can provide a wonderful refuge for people. It was built in the 1940s by the hands of family and friends. The buildings, five acre plot, and granite fixtures remain almost identical to the day they were built and are a constant project to maintain. Your business contributes towards keeping the grounds maintained and our latest projects - which include reestablishing our irrigation system so that we can expand our farming operation. Thank you for your interest in supporting our family ranch!Greetings and welcome future ranch guest! The site is located on a 5 acre oasis in the heart of suburbia San Diego County. Sleep below tall trees with battling hummingbirds or soaring barn owls. Less than 20 miles to downtown or the beach! Your stay supports current projects at this 4th generation ranch. Property located next to the major freeways, Gillespie Trolley Station (2 miles away), Mission Trails Regional Park, and the Santee Boulders. Our apologies that we are not able to provide amenities or any hookups at this time. This is a "dry" camp spot. Please pack it out, including all trash. Guests are welcome to explore & enjoy the grounds but please respect privacy of residents and other guests. Another dog lives onsite so please inform us if you are bringing pets. Host is more than happy to provide recommendations for local spots! There are two neighbors within 100 feet of the camping pad so please be mindful and maintain quiet hours from 10pm-8am. The main house is about 100 feet away. The camping pad is approx. 28'x15' feet. Please note that accessing the pad has a steep slope with a several foot drop. Trailers longer than 15 feet may not be able to back in and may hit their tail/bumper on the driveway. A low hitch may be an issue as well. Photos can give you a better idea of the layout. If the gate is closed, it is for the dog. Please come on in and close gate behind you if it was closed when you entered.
Rig suitability
Vehicles under 15 feet allowed
Allowed rigs: travel trailers, toy haulers, pop-up campers, class B RVs, campervans, cars, truck campers, and rooftop tents
Please see details on clearance and steep slope to enter the pad. Over 15ft vehicles/trailers may run into issues with clearing the drop down onto the camping pad. Please see photos.
Pull-in site
Pull in or back in is possible. The driveway to the pad has a steep slope so trailer needs to be short enough to not have the hitch or back bumper hit the slope when backing in. Please see photos. I'm unsure of access for all types of RVs or trailers. Under 15' should be fine but we're still learning!
Accommodates slideouts
Surface type: Loose Gravel
Surface levelness: Flat
gravel is roadbase. Site is level but you have a slope you'll have to pull in/back in to enter - see photos. Vans, cars, and trucks will back in fine but trailers over 15 feet will likely scrap because of steep slope.
No class A RVs, class C RVs, and fifth wheels
Please see details on clearance and steep slope to enter the pad. Over 15ft vehicles/trailers may run into issues with clearing the drop down onto the camping pad. Please see photos.
