Old Black Lake Resort & Campground
in Old Black Lake Campground, WashingtonThis would-be my go-to, except....
What a wonderful relaxing place to get away! The no-wake lake was very serene and allowed for water activities without a bunch of noise or traffic. Although we brought our own kayaks, Priscilla provides several water toys - including kayaks, paddleboat, canoe, and rowboat. She also has a dock. The amenities include a bathhouse - with restrooms. Very well cared for! The site itself had power available. There is no potable water (so bring fresh water, as indicated in the listing) - although there is spigots with lake water for some outside tasks...like rinsing off kayaks.
This definitely rates as one of my most favorite places we have been - and would love to go back on regular basis. Perhaps we will - if I can convince my husband that getting there is worth it! Unfortunately - and my only 2 negatives -
1-it was a little difficult to BACK down to our lake-side site. ..due to some trees & length of driveway. If the campsite across from us would have already been there, we most likely would not have had enough room. But the site itself was right beside the lake and loved it once settled. The upper site next to us (tiered landscape) would have been easier - but we were there to be lakeside. I should note that we're pulling a 34' TT...so 55'+ in length with the truck. Smaller setups wouldn't have the same issues.
2-we didn't realize the road off the highway was a 2-mile primitive road. A little wash-boardy and narrow at some points (again we're hauling TT). First time we ever put the truck in 4WD while towing - going uphill towards the lake. The road was not horrible & very doable...just didn't care for the shakeup/rattling & anxiety hoping no one would come down the other direction at us. We even had to move a tree out of the road that had recently fallen.
I hate writing good reviews for GREAT campsites - with it being so difficult to find good places to go the past couple of years - but can't help it - the place is WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, and AWESOME!

We've stay here before & love it. We love that there is an "overflow" option that only the original person can reserve to add others to their party.
