When I moved onto Windy Lane as a child in third grade, our road was a country dirt road. I have a lot more neighbors now, but my little piece of heaven has remained country.  My husband, Randy and I enjoy the peace and quiet we get and the plus of being close to the Interstate for when we need to make trips to Atlanta.  My land is still surrounded by a fence, now rusted, that my Daddy put up when I was a child. The property is big enough for us to enjoy and small enough for us to maintain.  My wildlife camera has captured photos of deer, coyotes, foxes, opossums, raccoons and an occasional dog and cat from the neighborhood.  We hope you will stop by and visit with us. Safe travels and may the road rise to meet you and the wind be at your back!Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent in your favorite spot on our 5+ acre lot. Our niche is privacy and our cute little Nigerian Dwarf goats grazing nearby. Once you are on our property, you will quickly forget you are just a mile from Interstate 75. We are located off Exit 205 and are 40 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles north of Macon. We are just 5 miles from High Falls State Park and Indian Springs State Park (where kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, etc. are available). We are just 3 miles from Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary and 6 miles from Dauset Trails Nature Center. Both are must sees for animal lovers. If you love stockcar racing, we are just 18 miles from Atlanta Motor Speedway. Activities there aren't just for "race weekends."If shopping is more "your thing," we are just 7 miles south of Tanger Outlet Mall in Locust Grove, Georgia.

We own a small farm on 64 total acres with around 59 wooded. We have 4 primitive camping sites with lots of woods, wildlife, and two small creeks. We are even located on a short dirt road to give you that country feel. All of our sites are spread out from one another and you will feel secluded in the woods with nature. On our farm are free range chickens, peacocks, goats and a donkey in a pasture, turkeys (wild and domesticated), honeybees (in the field), and a few outdoor cats. We enjoy our animals and nature. We want to share this experience with others so we have decided to rent a few camping spots that we have shared over the years with our children. Enjoy the peaceful nights and the sounds of nature and star lit skies. In the daytime check out our farm animals, walk the trails, or explore the woods. Guest are welcome to pet and feet the animals if they choose. Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Teaching people so they can teach others and pay it forward. Come support our mission by staying with us. Help out with your building or farming or engineering skills if you like. Naturally tax deductible financial donations are always helpful and help speed our progress.

The Herb'n Soul Sanctuary is designed to be a sanctuary -- a sacred space for rest, renewal, and relaxation. The Sanctuary welcomes all. Your glamp-site is located in the center of a pine-oak-hickory-poplar forest adjacent to our active urban farming family, where we grow fruits and veggies, and raise goats, chickens, ducks and bees. The entire property is about 10 acres. But don't let the seclusion fool you! We are a 30min ride to the airport. You can enjoy a walk through our labyrinth that has over 80 blueberry bushes surrounding it. As an extra, you can have a tour of our family farm. Stone Mountain Park is also a short drive or bike ride from here, where there is hiking, paddling, golf, and amusement rides available. For a more local experience, the Pine Lake Beach is just a 1.5 miles away. It's a beautiful site for swimming and fishing. New to camping and not sure that you can cook an adequate meal over a fire? No problem. This site provides access to the best of country luxury alongside the city conveniences of DoorDash and UberEats, all in one place. We have a propane heater for the colder months and 2 battery powered fans for hot days.

Learn more about this land: We have a suburban hobby farm hidden away in the undeveloped acreage at the back of a 1960s subdivision. Everyone who comes down the driveway says "What?! How is this here? This is so cool!" And they are right. 4 friendly adult goats, 2 indoor-outdoor cats who like belly rubs, and a vegetable and ornamentals garden that hosts several Georgia natives and pollinator species. It's a happy and peaceful place! The woods around us support several owls, Coopers hawks, some deer and an occasional red fox. There is a small nature trail that features several beautiful places to meditate by the babbling creek. Access to our neighborhood's recreation area as our guest to the swimming pool is available for an extra fee of $5/person (May-Oct). (For the safety of our goats, your fur babies larger than 10lbs are not permitted. One of our goats lost an eye once to a dog, and she's never fully forgiven me. ) We have several housemates, so parking is limited to street parking (one vehicle for you).  Amenities on-site- Animal cuddling. Nature Trail. Wildlife Watching. Creek wading. Gardening help. Wi-Fi Amenities Nearby- Bike Path (The PATH Foundation) - 5 min. Stone Mountain Park - 13 min. The best camping in Indian Springs State Park, GA guide

Overview

About

Indian Springs State Park takes its name from the natural springs that flow here. For centuries, the Creek people collected the spring water for its healing qualities, and by the 19th century, the area had developed into a bustling resort town. Today, visitors can still sample the water inside the stone Spring House built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Other activities include hiking and biking the trails and swimming, boating, or fishing in McIntosh Lake. A small museum, open seasonally, offers insights into the area’s Indigenous peoples, as well as the resort era and CCC history. Indian Springs State Park Campground has 62 campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 13 months in advance.
  2. Same-day reservations are possible, but sites are not available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Booking in advance is recommended, especially on weekends.

When to go

Indian Springs State Park is open for camping all year-round. The most popular time to visit is in spring and summer, which is the best time for swimming and boating in the lake, so it’s a good idea to make reservations during that period. Fall is also a great time to visit to see the turning leaves transform the landscape into rich hues of red and gold.

Know before you go

  • You'll find a range of shops and dining options in Flovilla (a five-minute drive away).

  • Free wifi is available in the park office.

  • Pets are welcome, as long as they are kept on a leash.

  • Georgia law requires that anyone 16 and older have a fishing license.
