This park offers rugged desert mountains, colorful canyons, and the Colorado River. Keep an eye out for beavertail cactus, wild burros, the famous bighorn sheep and thousands of migratory birds. Hike through the mountains to see great views from above. Dip your line in the Colorado River to catch your dinner.

I am the 2nd lot in from the open desert! Its an open lot with hook ups for an RV, 5th wheel, camper. (The Google photo provided by Hipcamp is not accurate: there is no home on the lot). Hiking up to Telegraph Pass is 2 minutes! ATV trails are 50' from the property. We are in a 55+ area but short term families are welcome. The Colorado River and Martinez and Mittry Lakes are nearby for boating, fishing, and tubing. Lots of activities in downtown Yuma. We came to Yuma to visit some friends and to check out this city. Staying in your tiny camp was perfect for us.. you had just the right amenities we needed since we were gone most of the time. It was well kept, plenty of space since we were so big (45’ plus towing pick up truck) and easy to park. Next visit will plan on staying here again.

The date farm was an interesting place to stay. I came on a day when the brewery and restaurant were not open, though I was able to try their ales and food at their taphouse in town. Food and ales were very good, and their dates were yummy. Misty was out of town, but the person who greeted me was friendly and accommodating.
The orchard was an attractive place to camp, but I would be unlikely to stay there again at this time of year. The problem was a row of refrigerated semi trailers too close to the tents and to the RV sites. The trailer's motors run nearly constantly to keep the contents cool. The noise was annoying and the exhaust fumes more so. In that regard it was like sleeping in an overnight semi parking lot. I suspect that the trailers may just be present from harvest until the dates have been delivered to buyers, but that’s just a guess on my part.

Misty & Case are really good folks who have created something very unique in a rural Sonoran Desert community, which they have opened up to share with others. I had the pleasure of rooting down amidst the palms for a few days.
Here is my advice:
- For those camping more lightly, take some time before committing to a location. Find a spot that works best for your needs.
- If you're wanting to be there in a social atmosphere, for entertainment, or when you can purchase beverages/food, make sure you book over days when the brewery is open.
- If you are a light sleeper, or are otherwise sensitive to sound, be prepared to put something in your ears at night. The refrigeration for all these dates is a noisy operation.
- Be aware that you're on a working farm and business site - keep it clean, organic, and minimally disruptive.

Cool place to camp. Bit of a washboard road to get there, but certainly worth it. We arrived late and had to leave early, so we were sad to miss the excellent looking food and beer menus at the adjacent brewery.
The 'portable toilets' are nice, clean trailer bathrooms, not plastic port-a-potties.

This is a desert, so stock up on extra water and sunscreen, it gets super hot (up to 120˚, with 108˚ as the average in July!)

In the Main Campground, sites above 40 are much more spread out on the southern portion of the campground. There is a nice ridge that divides 45 & 47 from 41-43, 53 backs up to an old cemetery (ohh, spooky!) and the area between 46 & 53 is open and flat, and so is the loop 2-12.

One of the best ways to explore the area is along many of the dirt roads. We highly recommend travelling in a 4WD as it makes it easier for everyone and your car.
