The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose.
Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Wandering Pines is a little slice of magic in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire. Our sites range in size and privacy and offer field or wooded land. The sites are near our Small House on 5 acres but far enough away to feel private. We currently have 2 large campsites, 5 primitive walk in sites, 3 Pick your own sites, 3 park and sleep sites and 2 RV camper sites. Our hip camp sites are set up to be self sufficient. If you arrive after dark you may have a harder time finding a site. We are not always home or awake when you arrive. If our sites are booked, please message me. We have a ton of space and can accommodate you somewhere!
During the warmer months(April-Early December) all the sites have access to water and a primitive outhouse and handwashing/dishwashing station. Firewood can be purchased. Please check our extras for other items for purchase.
We have wetlands and overgrown fields so there may be bugs and other animals at any given time. Bug spray is recommended.
Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping.
The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. Just ask

A unique glamping getaway nestled on a mountainside, 4 miles from Evans Notch, in Chatham, NH.
We have three 10x12 glamping tents tucked away in the forest on 6 acres, behind our home with glimpses of the surrounding mountains through the trees.
Private and tranquil- each tent has a queen sized bed with flannel sheets, a light comforter, and a lantern.
The front porch has two Adirondack chairs looking out over the forest. Each campsite has a fire pit, picnic table, and a cabinet filled with basic cook wear, plates and cups, a French press, kettle, and utensils for making meals over a campfire.
Our double-header outhouse is clean and beautiful- a guest favorite!
There is a short 1/8 mile walk through the woods to the camp- we provide garden wagons to tote your gear.
Follow the camp path to our wooded sanctuary, sleep among the trees, marvel at the stars, tell tall tales around the fire, and unwind!

Not far from the foundation of one of the more established farmsteads of the era, this campsite is tucked away from the road down by the rushing Bull Branch of the Sunday River. Whether you bake on the rocks after dipping, or toss a fly in a quiet pool, the river will soothe your soul.
Explore endless mountains streams, trails to the Appalachian Trail, and remote dirt roads in the heart of the Mahoosucs from your secluded walk-in low impact tent site with privy. Deep swimming holes and trout fishing beckon.
There are five sites in total. Hillside, Riverside and Fireside each have a picnic table, they all share a fire pit and a privy and are on the side of the road closest to the river. Main Eastside and the North site also share a fire pit and privy, Main Eastside has a picnic table, these two sites are across the street from the river which is just a short walk away.
Riverside: a more secluded site and closest to the river
Hillside: the smallest site available and closest to the parking area, other campers will need to access their sites by walking past this campsite

We maintain pollinator habitats, tend an fledgling orchard of heirloom-variety fruit trees, and conserve rare heritage-breed animals, including Tamworth pigs and Scottish Highland Cattle. Our shared love for Celtic folk culture has blended naturally with our love of sustainable agriculture to create Tir na nOg Farm. Today, the work of restoration continues with the help of farm partners, family, friends, WWOOFers, and other volunteers. Camping here at the hostel is a great option for those who are looking for the economic price point and rugged nature of camping, while still having the amenities of modern living.
"What should I expect my experience to be like?"
Being a hostel, the experience we offer is a community focused one. Sites are setup similar to rooms in the hostel. They are located in fairly close proximity to one another and feature (in addition to private fire pits in the sites) one large community fire ring at the center of the property.
Parking and camping are located at the rear of the Hostel property.
Out back features several campsites, a community fire ring, picnic table, and charcoal grill. Parking is first come, first serve, but there is plenty of street parking available along Washington St (Summertime street parking. In winter, town hall may be used as overflow parking.).
Amenities:
For Sites 1-4, the hostel is yours to access. Use the back porch and side entrances (Access code will be given to you during check-in). Inside you’ll find… Full community kitchen, bathrooms/hot showers, dining area, and lounge area.
Breakfast: Pancake mix provided in the community kitchen.
Dorm style bathroom facilities on the second floor have two toilets and shower stalls each. PLEASE NOTE: Towels can be rented for $5, or bring your own for free.

Spend your days swimming, kayaking, or fishing at one of three nearby lakes, or discover the many scenic hiking trails that surround the area. Whether you're traveling by RV or pitching a tent, you'll find a site that fits your style. We offer full-hookup RV sites with water, electricity, and sewer, an RV site without hookups, and several beautiful tent sites. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, so you can stay connected - or simply disconnect and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Our thoughtfully designed tent sites each offer something special. One includes water and electricity, another has electricity with nearby water, and every tent site is nestled along our gently flowing brook. Fall asleep each night to the soothing sound of running water and wake to the beauty of nature right outside your tent.
Guests also enjoy our brand-new bathhouse, designed to be as charming as it is comfortable. Spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed, it includes modern amenities, a hot shower, and a private changing area to make your stay feel effortless.
The property features expansive mowed fields perfect for games, walks, or simply stretching out under the open sky. Tucked throughout the grounds are cozy seating areas, Adirondack chairs, and a hammock where you can relax with a book, enjoy your morning coffee, or simply listen to the birds and the brook.

Our property encompasses 3 different campsites:
1.) Camp with Stone Fireplace - a private gravel clearing with functional stone fireplace on an 11 acre parcel.
2.) A Frame to Rest In - a newer addition which is a tiny A-Frame structure close to, but separate, from the Fireplace site and shares a driveway.
3.) Easy Come Easy Go - right off 302 and has a circular gravel driveway easy for RV pull-in with a picnic table and fire ring.

Located in Bethlehem at the top of the White Mountains close to endless hiking and biking. Both downtown Bethlehem and Littleton are within a 15 minute drive, supplying many choices for food and shopping.
Rainy and need more options? Take the beautiful 1 hour drive east on 302 to North Conway and visit the big outlet stores. If the weather is better, and you want a more scenic way there with hiking -- take the 25 minute drive down to Lincoln and travel the amazing Kancamangus Scenic Byway (Route 112). This is 35 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln.
Thirty minutes east is the Mount Washington Cog Railway, and you will pass the historic Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

Streife translated from Norwegian means roam. The right to roam, also called the right of access, or everyman's right(“allemannsretten”) is a traditional right from ancient times, and since 1957 has also been a part of the Norwegian Outdoor Recreation Act. It ensures that everybody gets to experience nature, even on larger privately owned
areas.
In our travels to Norway, we learned of this law and loved the concept so much we brought it back with us to America. Yet we had no land to offer. So, we searched...and searched....and searched some more. Then we found what would become camp Streife. 20 acres of uncut timber growth forest, tucked in the hills of Rumford Maine. With a nearby brook, pond and within 20 minutes of some of our favorite ski locations it was just right.
The rules of this law are simple.
Be considerate and thoughtful. Don't damage nature and other surroundings. Leave the landscape as you would want to find it. Leave no trace. You may put up a tent, or sleep under the stars, for the night anywhere in the countryside, forests or mountains, as long as you keep at least 500 feet away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. This rule of 500 feet distance also applies to camping cars and
caravans.
If you want to stay for more than two nights in the same place, you must
ask the landowner's permission, except in the mountains or very remote
areas.

Fish, kayak, snowshoe, hike or just relax. 20 minutes from Sunday River Ski area, 25 Minutes from Black Mtn. Ski area and even closer to Rumford's White Cap Mtn. for nice backcountry ski lines. Stayed for a weekend in August at site #3, a serene location on the Androscoggin River, incredible for star gazing. Welcoming hosts, easy to find campsite. Clean, private portopotty, flat spot to lay tents, and a shaded area near the picnic table. Firepit was on a slight incline but easy enough to move our camp chairs around. Firewood for sale on site. Loved the sandy area along the river, we floated and paddleboarded with our two year old and two pups. A bit mucky near the shore when we stayed, but if you walk out a little further it's nice sand and rocks underneath, we still recommend water shoes. Thankfully mosquitoes and ticks were only a minor inconvenience. Highly recommend!

100% recommend this site. Fully secluded, and peaceful. As others and description have said very steep entrance, so awd recommend. Lots of space for tents and/or car camping. Gets chilly on morning even during summer, so bring a sweater. Billy was very friendly too! Would definitely come back and bring friends over next time.

We enjoyed our time at the campsite. The tent was fantastic including the fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs. The icing on the cake were the two outhouses. They were so clean and included a library with live plants. We made great meals over the fire pit and then hit up the terrific watering holes off Rt 113.

My 30th birthday wasn't planned at all. We were flying by the seat of our pants and decided, just one day before, that we needed to find somewhere to camp. To our surprise, our last-minute request was accepted, and it ended up being one of the most memorable birthdays I've ever had.
The moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The campground was peaceful, beautiful, and exactly what our little family needed. It was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy time together.
On our second night, the weather took a turn for the worse. Our hosts went above and beyond by offering us their cabin for the night since it happened to be available. That act of kindness meant so much to us, and it's something I'll never forget.
What started as a spontaneous birthday adventure turned into an unforgettable family camping trip, thanks to the generosity and hospitality of our hosts. We left with wonderful memories and can't wait to come back

Getting to watch the animals during the day, and having the cozy hobbit hole to return to after a great day of adventuring... It was wonderful! The farmers were so kind and very very helpful. They are wonderful! My oldest son and his college friends went on a road trip with terrible planning ( despite mom’s advice) and had a problem finding somewhere to stay. The hosts were SOOO helpful in accommodating the last minute need and the boys loved their time! They helped them get settled, made sure they had what they needed, and messaged me to make sure I knew they were safe and settled! Highly recommend and one day I’ll get up there to see it too! From my son’s pictures it was beautiful, serene, clear grounds, and open space all for them! I added on the bucket shower and a fire and it was so easy for them to use and a nice couple add ons to make the trip! I can’t thank them enough for making the boys and this mama feel safe 1000 miles away from home! ❤️

Site 1 is very private and offers a wonderful view of the river. The water and electric hookups worked great. The bugs were manageable on the gravel and near the water. While you do catch a bit of traffic noise, it’s mostly drowned out by the soothing sound of the flowing river. The deck by the river is awesome feature—such a peaceful spot. We also had good AT&T cell service. Overall, a fantastic, well-maintained base camp for enjoying the area. Highly recommend!

Overall, we loved this campground. It was clean and the sites were laid out fairly well with moderate privacy. Our draw to the place was the pool, which was a great perk after a sweaty day of hiking or smokey eve by the fire.

Always very punctual responses, very accommodating with campsites left clean and have equally unique, private views of the river. Common stores available close by if you need anything in a pinch. we just had our family but great spot for groups.

If you’re looking for the real camping experience that includes total privacy in a beautiful spot overlooking a natural wilderness pond with nobody around to bother you this is it. The host was easy to communicate with and left us stocked with plenty of firewood! Couldn’t ask for anything better. We’ll be booking again for sure.
