Camping here is low activity experience as in there is hiking up in the National Forest or just hanging out in your camp site, or bring your camera, notebook and binoculars, or road bike.
When you come to camp here you are on a farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes.

Tiny home nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe but away from the chaos.
Host lives on property with 4 year old German shepherd. I typically leave for the weekend, however i will probably be there if booking during the week (Ill be gone most of the day though) . There are 4 neighbors but their properties are not visible, feels very private. Please be respectful of the neighbors property, they all have cameras :)
The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend.
Tiny house:
•Full sized futon downstairs, no bedding provided please bring your own if planning on using the futon.
• King sized mattress in loft. Bedding provided but please try to bring your own!!

This site comes with a large tent on a raised platform overlooking pastureland toward Smith Peak. The tent is a semi-permanent fixture that sleeps two people on a queen-size inflatable mattress. There is also room on the floor for a couple of sleeping bags if you choose to share your space!
An outhouse is located just a short walk away and also includes a shower. There is no hot water—just a Wim Hof-inspired cold rinse!
Lake Davis is about five miles up the road and offers fishing, paddleboarding, and a seven-mile trail to explore. The Lakes Basin Recreation Area is a short 40-minute drive away, where you’ll find multiple hiking trails and many lakes to explore.

Inside, you’ll find simple comforts to support your stay, including a camp stove, coffee maker, small refrigerator and microwave —ideal for easy meals and morning coffee. The cabin does not have indoor plumbing so no running water inside, but clean, potable water is provided for your stay. Outside the cabin, guests have access to a clean outhouse and a solar outdoor shower for a true back-to-nature experience. The Feather River is just a 10-minute walk from the cabin, making it easy to enjoy swimming, fishing, or riverside relaxation. We loved how private and beautiful the campsite was! The creek was especially beautiful. The bugs were very manageable, and it was nice not having to worry about bears! All of the amenities that were added were so nice to have. Especially the propane fireplace in lieu of the fireban. The outhouse was very easy to manage packing in and packing out, and was so nice having a way to wash your hands.
The propane was not included, so make sure you bring your own! Additionally, make sure you know what type of propane tank is needed for the heater in the tent, as the one we brought did not fit so we could not use it.
The parking was a little tricky as the parking is on a considerable slope. We didn’t have any issues as we had mini SUV’s that had all wheel drive. Also, pay attention to the instructions driving there. I would suggest putting land markers in the directions to make sure you didn’t miss specific turns, etc.
Otherwise, it was a 10/10 trip and would highly recommend and will go again!!

Weekend Trip to Lena's Landing- A Cozy Cabin
This was easily one of the best Hipcamp stays I’ve had. The tiny home is incredibly clean, cozy, and thoughtfully put together, with so many little touches that make the space feel welcoming and comfortable. She has clearly put a lot of care into the experience, from the amenities to the refreshments stocked in the fridge.
The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, and the friendly animals make it even more special. Being surrounded by the natural beauty near Portola was exactly the kind of quiet, rejuvenating reset anyone could ask seeking a retreat from their busy city lives.
She was also incredibly responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with, and I honestly think her pricing is more than fair for what she provides. She may call it “camping,” but this was easily the most luxurious camping I’ve ever done. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it without hesitation!

My partner and I had a wonderful time staying here for our weekend camping trip. Kelley was a fantastic host and I would 100% recommend staying here if you’re looking to camp in the Tahoe national forest area. Our cabin was clean, in perfect condition and Kelley was always there if we needed anything. You’re 45 minutes away from Tahoe lake and 15 minutes from the Emerald Pools. We’re excited to come back and I definitely recommend checking it out. 5/5

Weekend Trip to Flyte and Sparrow natural interlude
Stunning off grid property! Very communicative host when questions arose. As we drove out to the property, a fire started on a mountain nearby and our host assured us that we were going to be safe. Had a really cool opportunity to watch first responders fight the fire and even had a fire helicopter coming to pick up water out of the lake behind the property owners house. Stayed in the Tiny Blue and it was comfortable, but given the time of year, there wasn’t much of a breeze at night, so it did get extremely hot inside even with the windows open. Had access to a tiny kitchen and compost toilet right next to our site. We were next to a beautiful pond with a nice walking trail going around it. Saw all kinds of birds (lots of quail) muskrats, frogs, dragonflies. Very safe and welcoming place!

This is a lovely, biodiverse landscape full of wildlife and plants. The smell of sagebrush fills the air and the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful!
The Tiny Blue was a sweet little glamping spot! It was nice to not have to pull out my tent and camping gear.
Wendy is an awesome host! She was very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again. 😊

1 night at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF
My friend and I (and my two dogs) had the most amazing time staying at the Pearl. The location was perfection with Tahoe national forest surrounding the spot (big trees and a stream you drive next to get to the Pearl). Host was so helpful and friendly, and provided so many things in the Pearl that helped us feel right at home. Would recommend, and definitely would go back!

4 nights at The Owls Nest
The cabin was absolutely perfect! The owl trim on the front of the cabin provides the right kind of feeling. Chairs outside to relax and enjoy the view and take in the ambiance. Inside the kitchenette had everything I needed and more. Bedroom was more than adequate. Slept well. Bathroom perfect. The entire vibe of the area was soothing and refreshing! The family stewarding the land are lovely! We will be coming back, for sure! And their dog Jack is a sweetheart he played with our dog, Maggie!

2 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF
I've camped a lot of places. If I could give it a hundred stars I would!
Turn off the pavement and follow a dirt road into the forest. Past meadows and a creek that open up out of nowhere. You start wondering if you've gone too far, and then the road bends and there's Pearl, an Airstream under tall pines. Full shade. String lights over a picnic table.
The whole site swept clean, like someone cared about it.
I sat in the car for a second before getting out. It was that amazing!
This was my puppy Sasha's first camping trip, and my first in years. She got out, made one lap around the site, and laid down in the pine needles like she'd been coming here for years. That was the moment I knew this would be a memory of a lifetime.
Pearl is small but perfect. Queen bed with a window that looks straight into the trees, so you wake up to forest and nothing else. Little kitchen, stove, dinette, bathroom. Hot shower just outside. It was immaculate. Kelly set out a refrigerator and a propane fire ring for me. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
Five minutes down the road is South Fork Emerald Pools. Fuller Lake. And Bowman Lake, one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the Sierra, practically to myself. No crowds anywhere.
Then there's Kelly. She notices what you need before you ask. She stopped by the fire the last night and we chatted about how she built this place.
Sasha's ready to go back. So am I.

A quiet, relaxing spot …we loved sitting at the happy hour spot by the pond just outside of Tiny Blue, watching the wildlife, listening to the countless birds and bullfrogs, watching the sky. Kitchen facility & clean, composting toilet are very close to Tiny Blue as well. Enjoyed stretching our legs around the property after a long drive. Property is a short drive off I80 between Sparks & Reno but feels pleasantly remote. Thank you, Wendy!

I enjoyed spot and would certainly consider it again. It had everything we needed. We went to climb at the Emeralds/Bowman Lake Road. It will be a convenient location to that when the highway construction is complete.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! The property is beautiful, incredibly comfortable, and Tod and Amy have taken the time to make the space very peaceful. The accommodations were spotless, and they provided everything we could possibly need for a perfect getaway. Tod and Amy are really welcoming and even shared some delicious treats with us. Their dogs, Blizzard and Stella, were also so sweet.
We loved walking the property with our own dog and really enjoyed learning more about the bees, visiting the greenhouses, and saying hi to the chickens.
The location is a huge plus! You are completely out in nature with all the privacy, and yet it is an easy 15 to 20 minute drive to Downtown Truckee. From there, we easily explored the area for rafting, hiking, Donner Lake, and Lake Tahoe. Everything is a very convenient drive away. Highly recommend staying here!
