Please note, This campground is located in a floodplain and weather related cancellations are common. Fish, Fish, Fish. This river is primed for fishing. You will have to bring your own boat, or float as I don't have good river bank fishing access. I added a small floating dock last year to fish or swim off of. There is a state park boat ramp a short distance away. The steps in the photos are plenty sturdy to tie boats to overnight. This river is fishable with flat bottom jet drive boats most of the spring and early summer and floatable year round. You can float to your campsite and relax instead of waiting in line at the boat ramp. Also we are located about 13 miles from Crane Creek, A blue ribbon trout park. You can camp here and fish there.

Edgewater Beach Resort is a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. There are 2 RV sites at Edgewater that are located just a few feet from the water's edge. Lake Taneycomo is a cold- water lake that is famous for trout fishing. The resort has 3 docks that you can fish off of. You can also fish anywhere along the water's edge. Each RV site has water, sewer, and electric hookups, wifi, a private picnic table, and a private firepit/ grill. The sites are separated by a privacy fence for the utmost privacy. The resort has boat rentals, a fish cleaning station, an outdoor pool that is open from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend, a playground, and a laundry room. Grass is the best forage for horses, especially older ones, so we take care of our pastures, making for beautiful scenery for campers, too. Plus the entire back mile is bordered by old forest. And there is a swimming hole not a half mile away. This is a quiet and private site, bordered by a neighbor's old forest on back, other neighbor's cattle pasture on side, and you're in one of the pastures used by the Horse Sanctuary. (You are camping about 1/4 mile, more or less, from our house.) Great for dry camping OR Parking near the front of the property (with a hose and electrical with extension cord connected to 15-amp standard household outlet - you need an adapter). Small functional farm for animal lovers - goats, sheep, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowls, chickens (animals vary by time of year). Pond has fish. Short drive to Lebanon (all amenities), Bennett Spring State Park, and Springfield. 1.5 hours to Branson, Table Rock Lake, and other state parks. Fresh eggs with advance request (subject to availability). Vehicles + trailers (combined) greater than 30 feet not recommended when grounds are wet. May be difficult to turn around. Comments: 1) Please excuse the mess - we have many projects in progress in the front of the property. The back of the property is private. 2) We recommend repellent for ticks, chiggers, mosquitos, and other bugs during warm season. 3) The Cicada season usually starts in May. We recommend earplugs if that sound bothers you. 4) During heavy rain, there is a seasonal creek leading to the back of the property that can be difficult to pass without a 4X4. If you aren't driving a 4x4, park closer to the house on the gravel driveway. 5) There is a walking trail around the perimeter of the property.

Great location. We love this place but this is the first time we had any issues. The site next to us was empty and some people decided to use the fire pit and site to park and drink for each evening. It wasn't too much of a problem but we had to run the fan in our bedroom to block out the noise and conversation. Other than that it is still beautiful.

Site 1 was beautiful and nicely secluded away from the other campsites. The trails were well-marked and the views were lovely with several vistas and benches to sit on along the trails. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Will definitely come back and book again, hopefully after a rain when the creeks are running!

We had an amazing experience at Howler Bike Park. Jennifer and John were the most accommodating hosts and truly went above and beyond. The temperature got very low this weekend and they went so far as to buy extra blankets and took them around to make sure we were warm enough. The glamping tent was spacious and close to the fire pit, restrooms, and all the great things at Base Camp. The restrooms and showers were very nice and well kept. The coffee shop, welcome center, the food truck - it was all spectacular. We will absolutely be coming back again.

We absolutely loved staying at Howler. The owners have really thought about everything. It was a beautiful hike to get to the tents, but staff came to help with gear and bikes right after we called. The tents were spacious, beds were comfortable, and they are just the coziest and cutest thing. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained, and it was nice to have private shower rooms. We can’t say enough nice things about the owners and staff. John and Jen go above and beyond to make you feel like family while you’re there. The hiking trail and Swingset were great for kids and non-bikers, and the bike trails were a great challenge. We would recommend this place just for a weekend getaway, even if you’re not into mountain biking.

Immerse yourself in history while enjoying the great outdoors at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. This park features the first Civil War battle field west of the Mississippi River.

Visit between Memorial Day and Labor Day for the opportunity to see musket and artillery firing demonstrations. There's also informative Living History programs that illustrate life during the mid-19th Century. Check out guided tours to learn in-depth details about the area and the battle. Alternately, you can follow the self-guided auto tour. This trek circles the battle field and has stops at interpretive sites focused on the battle.

After your tour, head to the Ray House, which served as a field hospital for Confederate troops during the battle. The house is open on weekends throughout the summer. It's also where Union General Nathaniel Lyon's body was carried after his death. If you visit on August 10th, the battle's anniversary, expect a ceremony and special tour program. There's also a candlelight tour held each year.

The battlefield also includes five short walking trails, each less than 3/4-mile. You can also explore a seven mile trail system by horse or foot. While there's no camping at the park, several campgrounds are within 20 minutes. These spots put you close to the city of Springfield, which is about 30 minutes from the park. More camping, fishing and hiking opportunities lie about an hour south near Branson.
