Weekend Trip to Above the Clouds RV Park

Loved this location. Phil and Colleen great hosts. Friendly, relaxed and great conversations. Clear instructions to get there. Tidy location with lovely pond and pool. Really dog friendly - off leash. Birds, lizards and deer. Definitely planning to return.

Such a surprising spot tucked deep Into orchards and farmlands. Fire circle, picnic tables, like an old scout campground. Fun pond to canoe and many animals. Wish we could have stayed longer.

2 nights at Dreamy California Coast Airstreams

Absolutely stunning view! The airstream was clean, with nice furnishings and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed making pizza and grilling steak then enjoying the view by the firepit. There was one night when guests from the other campsite were playing music loudly, other than that we had a great time. My husband recommended to give the bushes around the fence a trim as it blocks the view. The hosts were responsive, helpful and gave clear instructions. We plan on coming back with a crew to rent out the other campsites!

1 night at Slide Ranch Campsites

A great place to stop for the outdoor enthusiast who needs a stopover for one night. Someone on bicycle tour or on a road trip. You have to check out before 9am because of their programs so it's not a place to set up and stay. Epically beautiful view, you are camping and overlooking the ocean. There aren't other places in this area to camp and be so close to the ocean. It's worth the money and you get to support a great organization, very quiet and peaceful. Not a place for drinking or parties. It's a hike in! Pack light and you need to be able to hike a narrow trail to get there.

Camped here for one night on a long road trip and really loved it. The location is pretty easy to find even though we came in at sunset. The space is large and would be super fun with a small group. It was just me and my partner so we chilled and cooked dinner. The provided table was large and made it easy to cook outside under the stars.

Weekend Trip to May's Luxury Farmstays

Place was well stocked for cooking and eating there! The pond of koi fish, ducks, and chickens were so wonderful to spend time. I wish we could have spent more time hanging out there, especially on the deck. It was near other places to stay on the land but felt private and so special. I would recommend if you want a cozy place to stay while exploring the bay area.

A Perfect Getaway: Beautiful Views, Cozy Cabin, and Wildlife Galore! We had an incredible stay at this charming log cabin at May’s log cabin studio farm! The setting is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views that you can enjoy from sunrise to sunset. The property is alive with friendly chickens, ducks, geese, roosters, and even ravens — it felt like our own little wildlife sanctuary. One of our favorite features was the awesome fish pond filled with large koi and goldfish. The innkeeper thoughtfully provides packets of food so you can feed them, which was such a peaceful and fun experience. Definitely take the suggestion to bring along two heads of lettuce — feeding the chickens, ducks, roosters, and geese was an absolute delight and made the stay even more memorable! The cabin itself was cozy and thoughtfully stocked. The kitchen was amazing — it had everything we needed to cook plentiful Vegan meals without missing anything. The fridge was generously stocked, which was such a nice touch. The bathroom was a dream, featuring a wonderfully large shower. The awesome outdoor clawfoot tub made for a perfect end to long days of hiking - we used it every day during our stay! Speaking of hiking, there were fantastic trails nearby that offered both peaceful nature walks and more challenging hikes, depending on what you’re in the mood for. Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations — peaceful, scenic, and so well equipped. We can’t wait to come back! 🏕️🐓🛀🐠

My friends and I loved camping at Cynthia’s campsite. We had site #2 which was more private with a big tree blocking the view to the other sites. She was super kind and kept the sites very clean. The view was also amazing of the ocean and the flowers surrounding the sites were as well. Would 100% stay again!

Weekend Trip to Blackberry Farm

We stayed in the Elk Cabin, and loved it! The hosts were warm and inviting and the cabin was was warm and cozy, even though it was very chilly and windy that night. I loved the hot tub and the "outside" shower. The water was so warm, and it was a relaxing way to end the day after hiking nearby and visiting the beaches. This was a great place to unplug and just enjoy each other's company. I visited with the chickens and the bees, and I read a whole book while I was there!

We had a lovely stay at blackberry. From the beautiful views to the friendly farm cats, we loved our time here. There were more amenities provided than we expected and turned our camping experience into a nice glamping experience. Everyone was so friendly and respectful of the common spaces, and we can’t wait to return sometime in the future.

Slide Ranch Campsites

Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The tent-only campsite area is 1/4 mile hike (about 10 minutes, mostly-flat) from the parking lot and is not accessible by vehicle. Campers must park in the visitor parking lot and hike into the campsite area. We provide a limited number of wheelbarrows to help transport your personal items to the area. Campers are not permitted to sleep in their cars, vans, or campers in the parking lot. Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult; no drop offs or pick ups permitted. No pets allowed; service animals are permitted. We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. A composting toilet is at the campsite and Porta-potties are available around the property. Soap is provided for hand washing. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. There is no running water at the campsite but there will be a limited number containers of water for use in hand washing, dish washing, and limited for drinking. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Please plan to bring any snacks or picnic items you’d like to enjoy while enjoying the ranch. Per GGNRA regulations, campfires and open flames of any kind are not allowed outdoors at the campsite. Portable camp stoves and BBQs are strictly prohibited. Cooking is only allowed on the provided propane stove located inside the Dome. Please bring whatever items you need to prepare and enjoy your meals. Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Coast Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. Slide Ranch offers camping to fund summer camp scholarships and other programs throughout the year.

Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. We also have active nighttime wildlife: coyotes howling, raccoons foraging, owls hooting, etc. Bring earplugs if nature sounds are too much for you. We offer 4 walk-in tent sites that allow you to immerse yourself in nature. We welcome well-behaved pets ON LEASH that won’t harass the chickens, cats, sheep, other campers, or residents. Unruly pets and their campers will be asked to leave. No refund. Limit: 1 dog per site. Pitch your tent in a meadow shared by: Campsite 1 - left side of the meadow, closest to the common area and hot tub. Campsite 2 - middle of the meadow, closest to our fenced apiary and bee garden. The pizza oven is not available for campground use. Redwood Grove hangout areas have seating and tree swings. Please pack out your trash. We have a large wheelbarrow to help you cart your camping gear across the pasture to your campsite. No driving onto or parking in the meadow. About

From the summit of this mountain, you’ll be able to see all the way to the Sierra Nevada on a clear day. Bring some binoculars and you might even be able to make out Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome.

Standing at 3,864 feet, this iconic mountain towers the nearby city of Walnut Creek. Bonus: you can drive to the summit! Beyond the views, Mt. Diablo State Park's massive 20,000-acres offers plentiful opportunities for climbing, biking, and hiking.

Check out Boy Scout rocks or Pine Canyon for some of the best climbing the Bay has to offer. Just be careful, the sandstone here is delicate. It’s a good rule of thumb to wait three days after a rain before climbing.
For a real challenge, try the infamous Mount Diablo Challenge bicycle race every October. The current record to the top is 43 minutes, 33 seconds. If you complete the course in under an hour, you’ll get one of the coveted "One-Hour" T-shirts. Talk about bragging rights.

Hikers will be over the moon when they discover the park’s extensive trail system. Our favorite hike is the Mount Diablo Grand Loop, a trail that circumvents the entire mountain. The gates here close at sunset, so make sure you have plenty of time to get back to your car.

If you would like to take in a sunset, spend the night at Juniper, Live Oak, or Mount Diablo Group Campground. (Juniper has the best views.) Be sure to bring plenty of water, it gets pretty dry up there.

Adding a little more detail to press "Recommend"- would recommend Juniper over Live Oak if you want a quicker view at the top. Campsite was generally quiet by 9pm. Campsite was warm at night for stargazing.

Juniper Campground Campsite #16 Pros: Bathrooms: near JC Campsite #24- clean with toilet cover and toilet paper. Diablo overlook: spacious - good views for sunset, sunrise, stargazing. Food locker: 2x. We used the one beneath the tree - raccoon did not get inside. Parking: vehicle fit on roundabot right next to campsite. Privacy: secluded by surrounding bushes Spacious: can fit at least two+ tents Trash/Recycling bins: plentiful Minor cons: -minimal view from campsite #16, tall bushes provide privacy. better view from the overlook. -Flies/bees active buzzing at campsite. -If sitting around picnic table at night, make sure snacks are not out on picnic table, but kept in lap. Juniper and Live Oak Campground

Camped at Juniper Camp, would strongly recommend. Great, easy ridgeline hiking with incredible views and tons of wildlife -- rabbits, snakes, birds. Great sunset and city night views from the top of the mountain. Our campsite didn't have a view but we were able to walk 50 feet to the parking lot which has an amazing view. Extremely aggressive raccoons -- I thought they were dogs. Only major downside is the ban on wood fires that is in effect throughout almost all of the summer (charcoal fires only). It can get windy, so wear layers and make sure your tent is has plenty of mesh, or bring earplugs to deal with the sound of the wind! Our campmates who didn't do either ended up sleeping in their car.

Stayed at Site #11. Wonderful campground with stunning views. Rangers are very helpful and friendly. Our food locker door was broken and had to keep food in our car. Restrooms are clean. Showers were not working when we there.

Secluded camp grounds, dog-friendly campsites but many of the trails are not. Beautiful views from the top of the hiking trails.

Camping here can offer a fantastic view at sunset, but the raccoons and park rangers make for a horrible experience in camp. Our group was harassed and interrogated at length about alcohol (which we didn't have). It seems to be too big an ask to be treated with some decency rather than presumed as hooligans. Be prepared for rudeness (and maybe get some names to report back to the CA Parks admins.)

Stayed st Juniper campground in Mid-February, it was super windy! We feared out tents would blow away when we left, and it was hard to sleep.. We all ended up in our cars by the morning. It has a great view on the western side of the city lights, but call a ranger and see how the wind gusts are for that night before you make the trek!

Wouldn't recommend using the food lockers. They are terrible and do not close all the way. Raccoons will definitely get in. We kept waking up to them tearing open bags of chips, and even if you block the door, they'll get in. These raccoons are huge from all the snacks they steal! And there is trash everywhere in the brush from them. Also, the rangers are not very chill. Alcohol is not allowed and they will make you pour it all out. We were threatened repeatedly of getting kicked out and they even made us take our hammock down for no reason. So keep your beers and food in the cars. There are amazing views so definitely worth a trip.

We woke up a couple times because of raccoons in the food locker. At one point there were baby raccoons inside the locker. The door to the locker was in pretty bad shape prior and they were able to squeeze in. We had to let them out then use the firewood box to try to block the door. 5 minutes after getting back in the tent, a bigger raccoon appears to try to open the box again. I would recommend wearing earplugs and not pitching too close to the food locker if you don't want to be disturbed. They are loud and not afraid to keep trying. Took a 3.5 year old on the hike from Juniper campground to the summit. Found ice cream at the summit visitor center, the little one was pleasantly surprised. Juniper and Live Oak Campground

Great views, although you don't quite get the "isolated from civilization" feeling I like so much when camping. Easy drive-up spot, relatively dog friendly, we were able to get campsites that were relatively isolated. The raccoons are no joke- not afraid of humans, or dogs. Guard your food!

Mount Diablo Group Campground

Beautiful views at sunset!! Last year we went and there was a massive fire ban, so you could only cook on stoves. Still worth it. Pets allowed, but not on the trails :(

The park can be very hot and dry, so make sure you bring lots of water and sunscreen.
