The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. In May we will have available a further sleeping accommodation featuring an antique double bedstead. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! Added amenities include kayaks, a horseshoe pitch, two fire pits, a play area including a basketball court and a hammock beneath the overhanging trees. A new 10’ by 15’ tenting / chilling area sits beneath the trees next to the amenities. Sandy walkways connect the beach to all of the different elements. Multiple spots around the property invite quiet reflection. Take your shoes off and stay a while… and if it’s Spring or Fall know that the rocket mass heater can keep you warm on the coolest, rainiest days.

Only 1 RV site on our 11 acre property located on a dead-end road within a small residential community. Newly groomed trail is located 20 feet East of the site so you can walk, run, bike, ATV or hike the trail.
NOTE: Only 1 single RV permitted on site. No additional units, tents or trailers permitted. Reservation will be cancelled if not adhered to.

This land was farmed by the Crooks family, one of the original Tancook families, going back to 1865. Crooks Hill grew cabbage to be made into sauerkraut - one of the main exports of Tancook Island! Now, it's home to our family and livestock.
Come camp on our farm - hang out with the critters and maybe learn a 'granny skill' or two! We're located on a beautiful historic lobster fishing island, right next to the ocean. Unparalleled night skies. Local cafe with amazing (and reasonably priced) food. Post office, Wishing Stones gallery and meeting spot, South Cove Small Goods for snacks and unique finds, Toast Cafe at the community recreation centre, Southeast Cove beach and sand flats (when tide is out). Arrive by ferry from Chester, bring your bikes and tenting gear. Expect to enjoy fresh farm eggs and whatever herbs and veg in the garden, pet the goats and sheep, and watch the animal antics of a small working farm. Island tours available with South Cove Experiences plus small goods shop with pantry and takeaway lunch for your daily exploration.
As your host is a bread-baker and fibre arts instructor, you can book a lesson to learn knitting, wool-spinning, felting, make an embroidered patch as a memento or just hang out and have your own creative getaway. Our lot is open, and while we recommend a camping spot on the flatter spots, there are a few spaces on our hill that give a wonderful view of the night sky and ocean in the daytime.

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the chalet. Our first night in NV at Porter's land was a thrilling adventure in nature, with the delightful chorus of birds. I even had a refreshing dip in the lake, and we were up before sunrise to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the misty lake. We really enjoyed our stay at the Blueberry Run! The site was clean, organized, and offered full service (highly recommend the black box sewer add-on). We liked it so much we decided to stay an extra night. It’s a short walk to a wonderful coffee shop, and Halifax is only about 40 minutes away. On a rainy day we took a trip into the city, but the other days were peaceful and distraction-free — perfect for relaxing and being creative.

This was my first attempt at camping out with my own tent while roadtripping to Nova Scotia. It was a good experience!
Shower and toilet was available, and it was a regular flush, surprisingly. Unfortunetaly for my 3-person tent, the nails cannot go through the wooden platform, so I installed it on the side.
If you're Glamping or using the already available tents on-site, it might be a better experience due to bugs, since this has 2 ponds around. Overall, for a first time, I was satisfied!
I just hope that the "Bois Road" that takes you to there ends up soon being paved, because that is one dusty unpaved road. At least the site is distant from it, so it's no problem!

Directions were clear to get to site, hosts were quick to respond to various queries & had done their research on DNR regulations & how they applied to their properties in light of the forest fire, trail access, & burn ban situation surrounding my visit. Sit was clear & as described. Wagon provided was functional & easy to use to navigate a trail from the parking to the site.
