Good campground, rough intro
My rating mainly reflects my interaction with the host. Her first message opened with “VANDALISM!!!!” in all caps, warning about tree damage and firewood theft, noting vandalism is “punished by law.” Her next message clarified this isn’t really a Hipcamp … they just advertise there. Her third was a long list of rules (speed limits, no gathering/chopping wood, no burning anything but paid firewood, leash rules, noise expectations, etc.). All reasonable, but the tone heavy caps, phrases like “authorities will be called” made me anxious before we’d even arrived, and the gratitude only came at the very end. I’m a regular camper who follows Leave No Trace and always leaves a site the way I found it or better. A warm welcome followed by the same rules, stated plainly, would have set a much better tone.
That said, the campground itself was well maintained, and the portapotties were impressively clean.
A few practical notes: the picnic tables are PVC. An interesting choice, since most campgrounds have tables you can cook on. We only used jet boils for water, so it wasn’t an issue, but a burner stove on the ground would’ve been unpleasant. We kept food in the car since there were no bear boxes, which I’d expect from a working campground. Hopefully that’s added as they grow.
