What a lovely spot! Meredith and Joe were great hosts and provided so much helpful info upfront. I barely had any questions, but when I did, they had quick and kind answers. The river was so beautiful and tent camping was comfortable on the flat ground. It was also great being that close to Portsmouth!

I had a lovely relaxing evening at this site! I like camping at remote sites but I can get creeped out if there's no one else around for miles. This was the perfect amount of privacy for me. You can see some houses and lights through the trees a bit but you won't see another person if you don't want to. The site is spacious with all the essentials. The owners were great. I live nearby and hope to return soon!

Loved the site for our tent camping!
- location is great, you get trees to cover you from the sun and the wind, plus a nice view of the review if you have a couple of chairs. Decent clean ground and a fire pit.
- convenience: good, a solid only toilet and a big jar of potable water at your site, did not try the shower sadly due to heavy rain
- owner: friendly and helpful! The also have hens and have eggs for sale, sadly they sold out during our visit.
- Animals: owls and coyotes are heard at night, pretty cool!
- noise: you do hear the road a little, but it didn't bother us too much

Very open and spacious all while being surrounded by wilderness.
Cool spot for fishing.
Easy access to “civilization” if needed.

The 5:30am construction crew across the pond wasn’t great but we did have a decent stay. There are a lot of mosquitoes due to the water not flowing I think so bring spray.

Such a private and peaceful spot. The site was very level and so spacious. The hot outdoor shower at the house was such a bonus. Brought our kayaks with so many lakes nearby to enjoy. The coast was just a half hour drive away and groceries or any needed supplies a 5 minute drive. Although we never met the hosts, they communicated well and available for any questions. Only drawback was the “bucket” toilet. A bit unstable and unsanitary to use. A composting toilet would be such an improvement.

A perfect stay. Soft pine underfoot, a lazy creek with a floating launch (if you kayak), a campsite that is somehow 10 degrees cooler than the weather. Hosts are kind communicators and thoughtful (for example, the wood included perfect amounts of paper, kindling, smaller and larger sticks and a jug of potable water). The gentle clucks from happy hens, an organic farm with abundant wildflowers, and an outdoor shower that was a real treat. Camp here if you can!

We just spent an awesome 2 days at Meredith and Joe’s campsite. This was our first time camping post kids and it was the perfect combination of convenience (site was an easy walk from our car) and seclusion. We hope to return in the fall to enjoy the foliage!

What a beautiful spot! It’s very private and quiet, but restaurants and supermarkets are a short distance away. If you go, be sure to stop by the chicken coop on your way down to the campsite. I had a great stay!

I would highly recommend staying at Bear + Bird Homestead! The site was beautiful and open. The sun reflecting off the creek in the morning was really nice. Kind, friendly hosts too — made sure directions were clear and gave us info on some trails in the area. The cherry on top though was the outdoor shower. Our trip consisted mostly of autumn hiking so the hot shower was a godsend.

Check in and check out was very easy and beautiful. Meredith and Joe's land is lovely and an amazing spot to camp overnight. They had wood and eggs ready for us when we got there and it felt very private.

We had such a cool experience over the weekend at the Bird and Bear Homestead! It was such a nice little place that felt very secluded. We got there at night and set up our tent in the dark. My wife was a little freaked out by the sounds in the night time but we woke up and found out that all the noises that sounded like animals running through the woods was really just acorns falling from the trees lol. So just a heads up, if you think you’re hearing lots of wild animals running through the woods, it might just be falling acorns. Waking up in the morning to really see our campsite was awesome. The fall foliage is looking amazing right now! And we topped it all off with a nice outdoor shower. Beautiful spot! We’d definitely recommend!

Perfect for what I was looking for. I did not spend much time at the campsite, I was at the ocean for the most of my stay. It’s about 30-40 minutes away. The campsite is far enough away from the house where you have plenty of privacy. The outdoor shower, wagon and bucket toilet were all great amenities. Very dog friendly. There is ton of wildlife around. Would recommend the wood bundle, maybe a bundle or two per night.

Meredith and Joe’s land was just what we needed for a weekend camping trip. We were greeted by Joe when we arrived. He gave us clear directions to the site. The site was clean and manicured, with a couple of options of flat areas for our tent. The site is secluded from view of their home, shady but with plenty of sunny spots if that’s what you want, and a short distance from where you park your car. Even the composting toilet was private…on it’s own little path off the site.
Meredith and Joe provide a wagon for transporting your camping gear to the site. This definitely came in handy for us. Thank You!
The floating dock was perfect for fishing and enjoying nature.
The outdoor shower availability was such an added bonus that we were so grateful for. It’s private, clean, and a short distance from the site.
Meredith and Joe clearly love their home and the land it’s on, as everything is so well taken care of. Thank You for making our Hipcamp experience a wonderful one.

Nice spot under the trees and near the brook ! We really enjoyed the calm, wildness and the hot shower near the house. Actually the only inconvenient of this spot is the distance between the camp spot and where you park.

Meredith and Joe were very communicative, helpful, and warm hosts! Their dog, River, is an absolute sweetheart as well. The camp spot is secluded on the riverfront, and the surrounding land is beautiful. The cart to bring our gear in was very helpful, and the full jug of potable water at the site was much appreciated! All-in-all a great experience!

Tent camping at Bear + Bird Homestead was fantastic! Walk down to the site is beautiful and there is plenty of space on the site to set up your tent(s). This location is a certified wildlife habitat, and during our stay we saw butterflies, various birds, and baby rabbits to name a few :) Highly recommend staying here during Summer

Really cute property! You head through the backyard and over a small bridge to camp by the river in a clearing under pine trees. Definitely recommend getting the firewood bundle! Bugs were kinda bad but it was mid-summer
- Clear away pine needles around the fire ring or it will spread
- Bathroom is a pop up tent with a ‘composting toilet’

The site was huge and had plenty of space to camp. We LOVED the shower and saying hi to the chickens! Be diligent when checking for ticks..we didn’t have latch onto us, but there were quite a few! There is a wildflower meadow that is SUPER gorgeous and they even let me cut some to put in a vase. I have always dreamt of getting photos taken in wildflowers and my fiancé snapped some pretty great ones! We would definitely stay here again!

I had a peaceful time at Meredith and Joe's camp. They were very hospitable, courteous, and responsive. The property is clean and well maintained. The camp is at the back of the property, and tucked away in the trees providing privacy. Its spacious with conservation land just on the other side of the river, so there's plenty of wildlife around. It's close to 125 which is convenient for groceries, gas, and other activities.
Definitely a nice relaxing time, and looking forward to going back!
