A Story of a Man's Dream It all began as a dream passed from father to son and has evolved into the largest bluegrass festival in the world! Each year during the third week of September, more than 100 bands travel here to share their love of bluegrass music. A variety of transportation options allows you to explore 1,400 acres of beautiful Kentucky hills and immerse yourself in the bluegrass experience. Traveling east from Morehead, Poppy Mountain first comes into view along the Tom T. Hall Highway (US 60). As you turn into the entrance, you'll immediately feel the spirit of bluegrass. With exciting lineups, the festival welcomes more than 20,000 guests each year—big enough to make an impression, yet still small enough to feel warm and welcoming. Explore the grounds with ease by renting a golf cart, or enjoy an exciting off-road adventure on our ATV trails! All campers staying September 11–19 must also purchase event passes for the on-site music festival. Please purchase your passes directly through our website.
