We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

Site 6 is located at the top of our property, behind the stables. It is fairly private and is next to the trail that leads down to Hayward Lake. The trail is on Crown Land, therefore we are not allowed to groom the trail nor post any signage. One section of the trail is fairly steep, so be careful and wear proper footwear. It can get slippery after a rain, so please be careful. There is no sandy beach; it is a forested access to the lake. There is no spot on the land area by the water to lay out in the sun. Most guests will bring a floating chair or some other floating device to hang out and tan or relax on the water. Once you are in the water…it’s great! The alternative is bringing a chair or towel and laying on the floating bridge. You just have be mindful of other foot traffic. The BC Hydro Floating Dock connects the Hayward Trail, so you can now hike around the entire Hayward Lake (18km)…or do a partial hike. An alternative area to note: if you walk over the Ruskin Dam and keep to the right, you will find a parking lot, with a trail that will take you to a sandy beach and swimming area. It is a good alternative option if you don't like the clay shore entry off the Crown land. This is about a 15 minute walk for adults...you may want to drive if you have children. Site 6 is next to Site 5 and is therefore a good spot for multiple families if both spots are available for booking! You can fit 3 smaller tents on this site (if needed) and you can move the picnic table to make the site suit your needs. The toilet is a shared outhouse with Site 5. Please bring your own toilet paper. We will provide a 5 gallon jug of fresh water. It is always recommended that you also bring your own water.

Site 5 is located behind our stables, next to Site 6 and near the entrance to the trail to the lake. It is perfect for two tents and two vehicles. Sites 5 and 6 are next to each other and are good spots to book if you have a larger party. Note that the neighbour's home is within view through the trees, however it is still fairly private and we have had excellent reviews of this site. Note that there is a fairly steep part of the trail down to the lake, so take care when hiking down. This is Crown land and therefore we are not allowed to groom the trails or post signs. The lake access itself is a forest access. There is no sandy beach area here. If you have young children you can take them across the street to the Stave River where there is more of a gradual water entry. An alternative area to note: if you walk over the Ruskin Dam and keep to the right, you will find a parking lot, with a trail that will take you to a sandy beach and swimming area. It is a good alternative option if you don't like the clay shore entry off the Crown land. This is about a 15 minute walk for adults. You may want to drive if you have children. The bathroom is an outhouse that is shared with Site 6. Please be sure to bring your own toilet paper! We will provide a 5 gallon jug of water from the spring nearby, however we recommend you also bring your own water as occasionally during the summer our shallow well will run dry.

Site 1 - Adults Only

Site 1 is located nearer the bottom of our driveway on the deep flat corner. There are spectacular views and sunsets. This site is not recommended for children given the steep slopes nearby. It is a short walk down the driveway where you can access the river which is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. The trail is directly across the street at the bottom of our neighbour's driveway. The next closest campsite is about 500 feet away. Given that this site is on our driveway, please expect the occasional car to drive by. We have upgraded the bathroom from a composting toilet to a portable toilet with sanitizing station. Please be sure to bring extra toilet paper...just in case. At the top of the property, beside Site 6, you can hike down the Crown Land trail behind the stables to get to the lake. Note that since this is Crown Land we are not able to groom the trail nor post signs. The trail is quite steep in sections, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. The steep section can get slippery after a rain. There is no sandy beach area or area to lay down on the land; just forest entry to the water. Many guests enjoy bringing their floating items so they can spend time in the sun while on the water. There is no beach "tanning" area, however you can sit or lay on the floating bridge if you wish; just be mindful of foot traffic. The BC Hydro floating bridge connects the Hayward Lake Trail, so you are able to hike around the entire Hayward Lake (18km). An alternative area to note: if you walk over the Ruskin Dam and keep to the right, you will find a parking lot, with a trail that will take you to a sandy beach and swimming area. It is a good alternative option if you don't like the clay shore entry off the Crown land. It is about a 15 minute walk for an adult. You may wish to drive if you have children. We will provide a 5 gallon jug of water from the nearby spring and we recommend that you bring extra water. Often, our shallow well will run dry during the summer month. PLEASE NOTE; Site 5 and 6 are better suited for children. Note that there are very infrequent times when larger vehicles will drive by; particularly when we need our water tanks refilled.

This site is located about halfway up our 3/4 km driveway. It is a nice flat pullout spot on one of the hairpin corners on the driveway. It is perfect for a couple tents or a vehicle with a roof tent. You have views of the Stave River and amazing sunsets. Easy access to the Stave River by walking down the driveway and crossing the street to the trail. Expect the occasional car to drive by. Rarely a large truck will come by if we need to refill our water tank at the top of the property. The nearest other site is about 300 ft away. We have upgraded from a composting toilet to a portable toilet with a sanitizing station. Please bring extra toilet paper...just in case. Access to the lake is a 5 minute walk up the driveway and then a 3 minute walk down the trail to the lake. The trail is on Crown Land, therefore we are not able to groom the trails nor can we post signage. There is a steep section of the trail, so please wear proper footwear. It can get slippery after rain. The access to the water is forest access. There is no sandy beach area nor a place to lay in the sun on the shore. Most guests bring a floating device of some sort to spend time floating around on the lake, taking in the sun. The alternative is to have a chair on the floating bridge or a towel to lay and enjoy the sun. Just be mindful of other foot traffic. The BC Hydro floating dock connects the Hayward Trail so you can now hike around beautiful Hayward Lake (18km trip). An alternative area to note: if you walk over the Ruskin Dam and keep to the right, you will find a parking lot, with a trail that will take you to a sandy beach and swimming area. It is a good alternative option if you don't like the clay shore entry off the Crown land. This is about a 15 minute walk for adults. You may wish to drive if you have children. We will provide a 5 gallon jug of water from the spring nearby, but also recommend that you bring additional water. Often, during the summer months, our shallow well will run dry. PLEASE NOTE; We do not recommend this site for children. Site 5 and 6 are better suited for them.

Large site on the deep lawn area of our house and is fenced in. Has some privacy but the main house is in view. Gets quite a bit of shade. We provide a Cedar Picnic Table, fire ring (that can be used with bbq briquettes for cooking) and a port-a-potty. Please remember to bring some extra toilet paper. The favorite spot of many campers who have young kids as the area is fenced in. Access to the trail for the lake is a 1 minute walk away (just behind the stables). Note that the trail is on Crown Land, therefore we cannot groom these trails nor can we post any signage. There is one steep section of the trail so we recommend that you wear proper footwear. The steep section can get slippery after a rain. The water access is forest access, meaning that there is no sandy beach or area to lay on the ground. Most guests bring a floating chair or device that they can lay on while in the water to do their sun tanning. The alternative is to lay on the BC Hydro floating bridge that connects the 18km Hayward Lake Trail...you just need to be mindful of other foot traffic. Note there are no hookups. There is the option of going to the river, which is more shallow and typically warmer in the summer months. Also, just over the dam is a trail to an actually sandy beach area. This would be about a 15 minute walk for adults. You may want to drive if you have children. We will provide a 5 gallon jug of water from our nearby spring, however it is best to bring additional water since our shallow well often runs dry in the summer months. This site can hold a group of up to 10 people, however additional guests of over 4 adults is $12 per guest per night. Also $10 per night for each vehicle over 2 vehicles No dogs allowed on this site.

Recently opened, Site 8 is perfect for larger groups - It is an open air site on the large field of our property. There are no shade trees nearby, so some guests set up sun shade tents. The ground is not perfectly flat as it is a "field". We provide 2 picnic tables, a metal fire pit and a port-a-potty. Please remember to bring additional toilet paper. This site is within the fenced-in area of our property and is a great place for kids to run around. Bring your badminton, bocci, frisbee!! We will provide a 5 gallon jug of water and do ask that you bring additional water as our shallow well will often run dry in the summer months. Access to the lake is behind the stables (beside site 6). This trail is on Crown Land and therefore we are not allowed to groom the trail nor post any signage. It is quite easy to find the lake. There is a steep section on the trail so we recommend that you wear proper footwear. This section can get slippery should it rain. Once down by the lake you will see the BC Hydro floating bridge for pedestrian traffic. This connects the two sides of the Hayward Trail, making it a continuous 18km trail...perfect for hiking. There is no sandy beach access to the water here...it is a forest access. There is no place to lay out in the sun on land in this area; only on the floating dock...you just need to be mindful of foot traffic. Most guests bring a floating chair or other floatation device so they can lay out in the sun while on the water. An inflatable paddle board is perfect for this. An option, if you have younger children, is to go the river across the street. There is river access across from the bottom of our neighbour's driveway. The water there is often much shallower and warmer and is a good spot for kids. About a 15 minute walk, over the dam, you will find a parking lot and a trail that will take you to an actual sandy beach area.

NEW Glamp Site - Summer 2025!! Site for up to 2 adults only. (We have made exceptions for parents and teens or small families. Please contact us for these adjustments.) Situated at the top of our property, this site backs up against a small hill and trees with a view of our field and old chicken coop. The field is quite flat with tall grass. Young apple and cherry trees are situated along the outside edge of the area, which leads to other camp sites. This site includes a large canvas bell tent (with covering fly), placed on a 20x26 deck, which has a queen sized bed, 2 coffee chairs, a wicker dresser filled with activities/books/spare sheets/towels, a couch and fun paper lanterns fitted with fairy lights . On the deck you will find an outdoor storage unit which includes cooking supplies, a basic first aid kit, bug spray, propane burner and a sink. We have supplied coffee/tea, powdered milk and sugar. There is also a picnic table, upgraded porta-potty bathroom, 2 fire pits (traditional plus a propane ring), camping chairs, a foam cooler, propane fridge/freezer, garbage bin and recycling bin. At night time solar lights will provide a dimly lit area for you. There is no power hookup and no plumbed water on site. ALTHOUGH, we do have a solar charger to use upon request. We also provide a full 5 gallon water container for you, which is from a local artesian spring which comes off a hillside. Water can be replenished by simply sending us a text. Hayward Lake is a 5 minute hike down a forest / animal trail through Crown land. On the Hayward Street side is the Stave River where you can swim, paddle boarding or kayak. Just a 1 minutes drive from the property is a public parking lot that leads to a beach area with a designated swimming area in Hayward Lake. Just be certain to get there early! There are many amenities within 3 minutes from the property, including 4 gas stations (cheap gas), beer and wine store, Starbucks, Triple O's, Tim Horton's and Fresh Slice Pizza. Mission City is only 10 minutes away should you need to go shopping. We have a Walmart, Superstore, Save On Foods and a Freshco to name a few. Simply bring your food and toiletries and you are good to go! Coffee and tea are provided.

We stayed at site 5. We were the only people there. It was a fine site with clean outhouse and toilet paper. Private because no one at site 6. Something crazy though - at about 1 am, we were awoken by a loud, drawn out scream, followed by gutteral inhales and exhales - kind of like a donkey braying - if it was scream braying. Scared the crap out of us! It sounded very close to the tent. We shone our flashlights out of the tent but didn't see anything. We didn't hear it again the rest of the night. We googled it the next morning to see what it could have been. Internet suggested a red fox call - which can sound like screaming. But it also said foxes don't live in Vancouver, B.C. It spooked us good!

It was amazing camping on Brent and Sherri's land! They were such kind and helpful hosts, always making sure we had water and offering us some of their floaties for the lake. It was a lovely space and we'd be happy to come back. The road up there is a bit gravelly and very steep, so avoid a late arrival if possible.

Chilled out weekend escape

We've stayed at Hayward more than a dozen times over the years, and this was our 2nd time in the new Bell tent. It's a great option to just grab the essentials and head off for quick weekend getaway without bringing all of the usual camping gear. Brent and Sherri are such wonderful hosts who are always just a message away if you ever need anything.

Lovely little spot right next to the trails down to the water, and an outhouse just a few steps away. We came to see the meteor shower and it blew us away! They left a large blue jug of potable water with a spout, and the site was very clean. On your way in, there’s a Starbucks/pizza place/gas station, so next time we’ll be having a pizza party for our camp dinner. Don’t be silly and walk down to the water on the wooded trail in the dark like we did, unless your navigation skills are better than two city girls. 😂

I loved camping here. The hosts were wonderful and took the time to stop by and say hi. They also had great recommendations for things to do. We were in site #2 and loved the view and seclusion. The campground feels like you are miles away from everything and yet you are quite close to amenities. Would totally recommend this campground

I was disappointed in what was referred to as beach/lake access was not what I had in mind. The trail was not well marked and even though i noted that proper footwear was required, which i wore (hiking boots) the trail was super steep, slippery and a tiny muddy area at the bottom. We left after the first night. As well there was a backhoe operating right by the campsite which as anything but relaxing.

Overall, we had a good camping experience. We were a larger group and were assigned a spacious field site that worked well for us. The downsides were that parts of the field were uneven, with pieces of wood and debris still scattered around. Because it was an open field, there were no trees for shade or to anchor tarps. Since rain was in the forecast, we had to use our vehicles to secure extra tarps over our hangout area. It worked, but some trees or a permanent shelter would have made the site much more comfortable. The biggest area for improvement is the water system. I appreciated that Brent and Sherri were quick to refill our water jugs when we asked. However, for larger groups, conserving water for drinking, cooking, dishes, handwashing, and other needs is difficult. We brought plenty of water but still needed refills. A larger-capacity water system would greatly improve the experience. The only negative experience was our interaction with the owners about noise. Around 9:30 pm we were singing karaoke. We understand we were loud, but believed quiet hours started at 10:00 pm instead of 9:00 pm. We had no issue being asked to lower the volume; however, the approach felt unnecessarily rude, and was communicated in a harsh tone. Other nearby groups were also loud later that evening but did not appear to be approached about noise. Overall, it's a good campsite, but improvements to the water system, field maintenance, and guest communication would earn it a higher rating.

Brent and Sherri were excellent hosts! Our group of 6 + 2 dogs stayed at Campsites 5 & 6, and we loved it. The space is ample, outhouse is clean (there are spiders/bugs, but your outdoors so expect that!), and the privacy is great! The road going up is rugged but short, my sedan was able to get up - just make sure you don't stop. Overall, great stay!

This was our first stay using Hipcamp, and it was an amazing experience. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and offered plenty of privacy. We especially loved seeing the ducks and cockerels wandering around. We stayed at the overflow site (Site 7). Although it's located in the hosts' front garden, it still felt surprisingly private and secluded, It's a great spot for families and groups. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

A few things need some attention

Overall, we had a good stay at Hayward Farm Camping. The directions were very clear, and we had no trouble finding our site. We chose Site 5 because it looked like one of the closest to the trail down to the bridge over Hayward Lake Inlet. It is close, but the trail is much steeper than expected. We appreciated the advice to bring grippy trail shoes, but we still slipped a few times, and the ferns had grown over much of the path, making it hard to follow. A few small trail markers would really help. I’m also glad we brought plenty of drinking water, as we couldn’t find the advertised garden hose to refill if needed. The outhouse shared with Site 6 was unfortunately unusable for us due to the number of VERY large spiders, so we ended up using toilets elsewhere (not on the site). The only other thing I’d mention is that, for the price, I expected a little more. The picnic table had been damaged by previous campers, and the bins weren’t bear-proof. We even saw a black bear tearing apart a bin on another site. I understand this is bear country, but bear-resistant bins, or asking campers to take their rubbish home, would help keep both wildlife and campers safer. I messaged the host to let them know but didn’t receive a response. That said, the location is nice, and with a few small improvements, this could be an even better camping spot.
