A nice place to stop and recharge from driving. Well laid out for tent camping. Google might tell you to turn on the wrong road off the highway, so be sure to look for the reflective blue arrow sign. Host is friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

We didn’t make our initial reservation and stayed elsewhere not wanting to arrive at night. We notified the host we wouldn’t arrive til next day. He kindly obliged and even offered to bump the reservation. We asked for an opportunity to simply see it offering to pay a late checkout fee. We had hoped to see the view, go for a walk and determine if we wanted to book in the future. Attempting to access the site was fraught with barriers. We were stopped by a neighbor on the next driveway over who were clearly displeased we were there. They stated a few times there was nothing like that and the area was “private” and wanted to see our phone to assist us. After questioning they pointed to it on the hill above. The directions are unclear but we found the blue arrow that had been mentioned in the directions. Although we had checked ahead before confirming to ask if the road was passable with a ram van, when we found it rocks had been placed in the middle of the road as if to prevent use of the road leading to this Hipcamp. It also appeared to have dips that would be impassable and if one were to get stuck here that could be a challenge. In the end we were thankful we hadn’t pushed through and arrived the night before in the dark as we wouldn’t have made it. Suggestions: improve the written directions, reach out to your neighbors, be clear about the road condition, put clearer information on the listing. Nothing about this felt safe or friendly when trying to access.

I spent one night at The Top of the Rock, and although still under construction, the views are stunning. Zander was incredibly accommodating, and it’s refreshing to see a host so eager to make guests’ stays memorable. I had better luck with directions using google maps. This location is about an hour away from all the must see spots, and I would definitely recommend staying here.
