Years ago, this locale, with the pond, was a popular local swimming hole
in Wilkes County. In the 1940s, buses were available to take you to the foot of the mountain so you could come to the swimming hole. People would come to swim, picnic and camp. The spring fed lake was larger back then and had docks and pontoon boats. The hills were covered with grass and apple trees instead of being covered with trees, as they are now.
Today, the lake is private and, at this time, we do not have permission to swim or fish. However, it is still lovely and you can come and sit, picnic and visit by her shores.
