This state park began as a sugar mill built by Bernard de Marigny in 1829. It's now a popular outdoor destination. The park is located on the north shore of iconic Lake Pontchartrain. Start your vacation on or near the water.
Sunbathe, picnic, or swim along the sandy beach near the parking lot. Explore the rest of the shoreline to find quiet coves, more sand, and a few ponds. Cast your line at the fishing pier, or grab your binoculars to see sailboats on the water.
Hike, bike, or skate long Tammany Trace. This path was a railroad at one time, and now it's part of the Rails to Trails system. Get your exercise along this 31-mile route if you want to traverse the entire trail.
