Hughes Holler

1 site ¡ Lodging5 acres ¡ Marquette, KS
The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by. The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees. Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people. There is also a composting toilet on site. Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffe perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower! We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store and liquor store. Our Little Grove

6 sites ¡ Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres ¡ Lindsborg, KS
Our delightfully funny farmstead was built by Swedish Pioneers in 1876 and we pioneered our Hipcamp on 18 June 2023. We have a variety of spaces for tents and small campers midst leaning trees and funky old farm buildings. Rustically quaint and uniquely primitive, we are. Friendly dogs, sheep, one goat and shy cats. Rain sheltering in The Barn, The White House or Alpaca Coop. Well water hydrants, free bottled water, electricity to charge up your devices and WiFi close by. Lots of campfire wood. OUR LITTLE GROVE IN A NUTSHELL — Smack in the middle of the U.S. and only half hour drive from the intersection of Interstate 70 (goes east and west) and Interstate 135 (goes north and south) — Very safe and especially comfortable for those traveling alone — We tend to be kind, caring and eager-to-please country folk and creature Hosts — Meadowlark Bike and Hike Trail within walking distance from your campsite — Bike three miles north to Lindsborg - discover Swedish genetics you have or do not have, funny and fun events, lotsa art and shops, strong Swedish coffee… — Random entertainment by canines Annie, Charlie and Little Lost Dog Klaus, and the trio of Dolly the Wobbly Goat and sheep brothers Ozzie and John Everett. OUR LITTLE GROVE DESCRIPTION We are a safe spot to take refuge for a night… a week… a month. We are in the belly button of continental USA.Dolly Goat believes we are “Delphi”, the Center of the Universe. We have been popular with solo travelers and campers traveling across the country - the San Diego to New York and Alabama to Wyoming types. Of course, we are a reprieve to anyone needing a break from the outer world. You just text an hour or so ahead and HONK THREE TIMES for entry. I will open the rusty old gate and show you to your option of areas to stay. WE ARE ART AND KINDNESS IN PROGRESS. We are eager to be nicely organized, but are discombobulated rookies so a sense of humor and flexible joy for creative chaos will help give you a funny little farm experience. (More apt, Funny Farm Experience). GREAT THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE HERE Proud-to-be Swedish LINDSBORG, three miles from us, is adorned with wooden Dala Horses, shops, art and galleries. Population is only 3,200, but we have a great grocery store with a Swedish aisle, pharmacy, National Geographic Photographer, a Full Service Gas Station and a CASTLE up the road. LOTS of fun funny events. See https://www.visitlindsborg.com/ and Lindsborg sites. CORONADO HEIGHTS is our local castle where you can picnic and watch the sun rise or sun set on a 360 degree view of central Kansas countryside. Fifteen minute drive north from Our Little Grove. See https://www.visit lindsborg.com/Coronado-heights MEADOWLARK TRAIL is a nicely groomed biking and walking trail and is just across the field - you can walk to it from your campsite. Prior to arrival, you will receive a text that lists personal recommendations for sites and conveniences, before you arrive, eg sunset and 360 view of Kansas from our castle, Coronado Heights. Brochures are also available in our Alpaca Coop. EMERGENCY INFO Prior to your arrival, you will receive information about emergency care and what to do if there is a tornado. Don’t worry, we have not seen one in decades.

Borntrager Dairy

1 site ¡ RV200 acres ¡ Yoder, KS
Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods. The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life. We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

Daniel's 100-yr-old farm

3 sites ¡ RVs, Tents160 acres ¡ Hutchinson, KS
I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage.  My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how.  For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture.  In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt.  Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store.  We call it JakoPure food. Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too.  That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm.  Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place.  But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance.  You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep.  If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November).  Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife.  (Fair warning:  if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.)  We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture.  There are killer sunrises and sunsets here.  If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby. Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking.

The best camping near Kanopolis Lake guide

Overview

About

Part of a system of lakes, Kanopolis Lake tag teams with Cedar Bluff Reservoir to regulate water flow in the Smoky Hill River Basin. A portion of the lake storage is set aside for the Post Rock Rural Water District, which quenches the thirst of many local farms and communities.

Along the shoreline you'll find four recreational facilities: Kanopolis State Park, Venango Public Use Area, Yanke Run Point Public Use Area and Boldt Bluff Public Use Area. The park features a vast 22,000 acres of rolling hills, bluffs, woods, a lake and nearly a marathon’s length of trails for recreational purposes.

When to go

The prime time to visit Kanopolis Lake is between May 1st and September 30th, when the park's full services are available. Shoulder seasons offer quieter visits but with limited facilities. Avoid the chill of winter to make the most of the lake's offerings.

Know before you go

  • Always wear a life jacket near the water to ensure safety.
  • Keep pets on a leash and clean up after them to maintain the park's cleanliness.
  • Check weather conditions before your visit for a pleasant experience.
  • Remember to book your activities online to skip the lines.
  • Adhere to the park's rules and regulations to preserve its natural beauty.
