Located on the Flint Hills Trail State Park in Allen Kansas, Basecamp Flint Hills offers camping in the scenic Flint Hills of Kansas. BFH is 20 miles north of the world capital of gravel cycling, Emporia KS, and 20 miles east of historical Council Grove. BFH has hammock trees and shaded acreage for tent camping, a no-frills bunkhouse, and two back-in camper sites for those who prefer a bit more luxury. This is a community style campground where picnic tables and campfires will be shared with your neighbors. We encourage you to expand your circle and enjoy the experience! Seasonal facilities include an open air, cold water shower and port-a-potty available April through October. We do not currently have adequate infrastructure to accommodate horses.

  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

The campsite is a favorite among travelers, particularly those biking the Flint Hills Trail. Visitors appreciate the serene environment, clean facilities, and amenities like a shower and fire pits. The hosts, Amy and Darius, are praised for their helpfulness and attention to maintaining the site. However, a few guests noted overgrowth and mosquito issues, and one found the presence of a stranger at the site unsettling.

    Recommends

Nice, no frills spot close to the Tallgrass Prairie and right next to Flint Hills Trail. Dogs nearby barked all night though, so bring your earplugs.

    Recommends

Wonderful trip to BFH!!! The camp host remembered my name from email questions and greeted me on arrival! Both are nice wonderful people! The campground (and the town) was very quiet with beautiful starry dark skies for viewing! Beautiful location for sunset, sunrise and enjoying the moon! The other guests at the campground were very quiet and courteous! The common areas of shared fire rings and shared picnic tables were fun. I enjoyed conversations with several fun, unique people! Thank you for having a great, quiet, clean, well kept camp area!!! And LOVE the ease of access to the Flint Hills Trail and other county road ride options!
