The original house was a log cabin and added onto making it into 2 story house today. The current Barn was built in the early 1900’s. The property was once dairy farm, and plant nursery. We have an asphalt driveway that can accommodate a self-contained RV or a truck and trailer not exceeding 50 feet in length. Additional parking is available for tow vehicles, and there’s a public parking lot less than half a mile away where you can unhook before arrival and set up in the driveway. The property offers plenty of shade in the summer and space for tent camping on our empty lot next to the house and garage buildings.
We have a woodworking studio where we create one-of-a-kind pieces using a scroll saw and other tools in our large workshop. You’ll also find a variety of vintage items for sale, along with handmade Christmas ornaments, puzzles, and wall hangings to choose from.
Our property includes about half an acre fenced with chain link, providing plenty of room for pets to enjoy off-leash playtime during your stay. We currently have four Jack Russell Terriers of our own, and they love to play ball — if you’re willing to throw it until your arm gets tired!

We were really happy to get to sleep test a Road Toad, and Cary’s tour of the Camp Inns and the factory was awesome. Campsite and fire rings great, even pre-raked the area for us so there weren’t leaves near fire. Loved having a hot shower available before returning to spaces full of other humans.
On our walk at the Wildlife Refuge, we saw trumpeter swans and sandhill cranes 🙂
There is some highway noise and there are some lights , for those who are sensitive to either, but we still had lots of stars on our first night!

I would definitely stay up there again. Lots of privacy and the train running not far by peaceful in its own right. I heard coyotes in the distance and a screech owl pretty close. It is also a great place to look at the stars.

I stayed at the RV site. Good size for about an 18 foot RV, more length may be pushing the space to its limit. There is water and power at this site. There is a remarkable (Best On HipCamp it seems) outhouse approx 100 yards from the site as well. Nice walking trail, and plenty of star gazing, moon gazing.
Owner has wood for sale on site.
Owner is also a super nice guy, and can accommodate pretty much anything you need.
There is another site more in the woods, primarily for tent (RTT) camping that the owner may advertise for rental later this year (2025). This site is more remote/private, very well maintained, large (approx 50 meters X 30 meters), and should easily fit 3 or 4 tents if your traveling in a group.
There is a remote possibility the owner may open a very primitive, solo tent camping location......... stay tuned.
All sites are accessible by auto/truck, but you could also park in the lot and just hike into the tent camping locations, or drop off your gear and park in the lot to save space at your site.
Overall a great three days / two nights staring at the fire and moon with my dog.

Nice, quiet stay! When we saw the ATV signs on the roads to the camp, we worried it would be loud, but it definitely wasn’t. Very cute and host was super nice. Pit toilet was immaculately clean.

The site I had was great to park my teardrop camper. Peaceful solitude. There was a toilet room but I had my own. It looked clean and organized.
A little noisy at peak times as it is on a corner of a well used hwy H. Other than that I heard owls talking to each other. Very cool. Recommend.

Quiet site with firewood and access to a bathroom and a great shower. Instructions were clear and I appreciated the welcome. Had access to wifi close to the building where the bathroom was. Only downside was I had very spotty cell service at my site, but that was nothing to do with the site itself.

Joe’s place was perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. Private and quiet with many amenities. The property also has numerous trails to walk with your dogs and even has a viewing area to catch a beautiful sunset. Joe was an exceptional host and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Highly recommend staying at Joe’s place! We would love to stay here again in the future.

Joe’s place is GREAT. He has done a wonderful job with the site. Electric and water hookup were easily accessible. The privy is clean - the nicest privy I’ve ever used. His property is meticulously maintained.
Joe was a great host - very friendly and fun to chat with. He took us up on our invitation to share conversation and drinks by the campfire.
We felt the site was reasonably private. You’ll be surrounded by nature.
I admit I am reluctant to post this glowing review because I’d prefer to keep this little gem a secret so it’s always available to us. Thanks for a great stay, Joe!

Great location, highly recommend! We got in late, but the place was easy to find and locate. The site was spacious, clean, and quiet! The amenities were great to have available. Athough we didnt start a fire, having that option/available wood was a nice touch!
There were mosquitos this time of the year, so be prepared! Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

18 ft pop-up camper
We had the best time ever! We had the whole place to ourselves to roam and explore. It’s absolutely quiet and remote, extremely dark at night for sky watching. The smell of the pines was intoxicating. The owner encouraged us to walk his trails which were immaculately groomed. Right before dark the owner showed us another place to watch the sky that was breathtaking.
He has a great fire pit in another part of the woods that also has a swing that is tied a good 30-40 feet up in an oak tree. I probably spent a dreamy hour swinging.
Our site was close enough to the outhouse (the Cadillac of outhouses) to make it a pleasant walk. Our site was very well groomed and featured a nice fire pit with plenty of split wood. The location is remote enough to forget that the rest of the world is out there.
It’s a very nice place with a neat and interesting owner. He made sure that we had everything we needed.
We highly recommend this site.

18 ft pop-up camper
It’s a beautiful site! We found the accommodation so quiet, breezy, wonderfully pine scented, perfect for watching the sky, and just the right amount of remoteness. At night we heard owls, coyotes, some type of nighthawk, crickets and tree frogs.
We had a large fire pit with plenty of wood. We met our host the second morning and he made us feel even more welcome than we already did. He offered us “anything we might need.” He invited us to sit and talk for a bit on his huge porch. I really enjoyed his salty stories.
Not often (maybe never) have I said it was an honor to use an outhouse but this one, that our host built, was actually charming and immaculate. The finish on that wood was perfection!
I could go on and on but I think you got the jest of my experience. It was 100% positive and we will make a very big effort to go back this fall.
