Enjoy a stay at our rustic log cabins nestled 1/2 mile back from our residence in the peaceful woods of our family's 160-acre 5th generation farm. Summertime here is filled with long days of daylight to participate in various activities, or just hang out in the hammock. The warm evenings bring out fire flies, owls hooting, and stargazing while sitting around the campfire. The fall is a very special time of year here with the maples and oaks changing colors. There are two log cabins, one of which doubles as a place to cook maple syrup in the spring, a pavilion, and an odor-free "outhouse". We will only rent to one group at a time, you'll just have to choose which cabin site(s) you want. The group limit is 9 people.
Hike the trails meandering through our woods, sit around the large campfire, take a relaxing nap in the hammock, watch sunset down one of the trails, or the many activities of hiking and mountain/fat tire biking groomed trails at nearby Levis/Trow Mound (our favorite), fishing, kayaking, horse trail rides, and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park (a must-see) is a mile up the road. The pavilion has a large log picnic table, Blackstone griddle, a charcoal grill, and refrigerator/freezer. The pavilion and Sugar Shack cabin have solar power. The Sugar Shack has a small gas stove and oven. The Cozy Cabin does not have solar power yet. All rentals include use of the pavilion and "outhouse". New in 2026 - outdoor shower with heated water.
There is no WiFi but good cell phone service. Bedding is furnished for cabin stays. Wood and charcoal are furnished. Extra lawn chairs available. We have cornhole available and other yard games for use. All you really need to bring is food, beverages, towels & favorite book or game.
We welcome your furry friends, but no more than 2 dogs. There is a $25 pet cleaning fee under extras. This $25 fee covers 2 dogs. We politely request no children under 7 in cabins, and then all children over 7 supervised at all times while in cabins.
2 night minimum; 3 night minimum on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, and 4th of July if it lands on a Friday or Monday.
Neillsville is located just 2 hours from St. Paul, MN; 2 1/2 hours from Madison; 2 1/2 hours from Green Bay.

Downstairs (not heated) features a small kitchen area with sink and propane stove/griddle and a bathroom area with a portable/flushing toilet. Plates, bowls and cutlery are provided along with cooking utensils and a handful of pots, pans, and bowls. Salt, sugar, and olive oil also provided. We provide filtered water and cream in the refrigerator upon your arrival, and for families with young children we have a gate to block the staircase and outlet caps for added security.
Twelve chickens are a part of our family, and you are welcome to feed the chickens clover or fresh flowers, and help us plant flowers or pick apples depending on the season! We also have two farm dogs and two farm cats who might want to say hello.

We had a great weekend. The site was so beautiful, surrounded by trees and trails and nobody else on the site with us, so we felt like we were able to enjoy our time in seclusion, even though we weren't more than maybe half a mile from the hosts. The buildings were well crafted and comfortable. The only thing that we forgot to bring were towels (oops!) but other than that small mistake on our part, everything else that we needed was easily available. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for a nice little getaway weekend. Would be great for a family group or just a couple.

Weekend Trip to Rustic Log Cabin Retreat
We stayed 3 nights in one of these rustic cabins and had an amazing experience. Tucked behind the hosts’ farm, the cabins offer a peaceful, private getaway surrounded by nature. The hosts built everything themselves using materials from the property, which makes the cabins feel extra special and unique.
The hosts were incredibly friendly and thoughtful, checking in before our stay and showing us how everything worked when we arrived. They also shared great local recommendations. The cabins are pet friendly too, allowing up to 2 dogs.
This place is the perfect mix of rustic camping and cozy glamping, with hiking trails, beautiful scenery, a hammock, fire pit, solar lights, and even a welcome s’mores kit and a sample bottle of maple syrup they make. Everything you need is provided while still feeling like a true escape. Relaxing, beautiful, and unforgettable — we can’t wait to come back.

We were the first guests of the season and it was COLD outside (It even snowed) but the barn was so cozy and warm inside. Homemade breakfast was delivered along with homemade hot tea and it was exceptional! They offered us to reach out for anything we may need but we didn’t need a thing! It was perfect! This cabin is so lovely and cozy! I was concerned about being warm enough in late March but I had no need to be. The gas fireplace keeps the cabin incredibly toasty. The creekside fire pit is picturesque. I enjoyed making a morning fire and watching the creek flow by as it gently began to snow. This was the perfect spot for a weekend of quiet reflection. If you want to unwind in a whimsical cabin with an off grid experience, this is the place. We enjoyed sitting, reading and playing games by the big windows looking out into woods. At night it's a place where the stars shine bright, and the world is quiet and calm. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood burning stove. We used it to cook leisurely breakfasts, and later winter stew. Hosts are helpful, and kind. All the little touches, from overall ambience, to the binoculars, games and books, made it the cozy extended weekend we were looking for. The yurt itself was a beautifully set up — spacious, warm, and very accommodating. Even with the cool October evenings, the heated yurt kept us toasty, and gathering around for games of dominoes while being warm and cozy. If you’re looking for something memorable and a little different, I recommend this yurt. The blend of nature, comfort, and family connection made it one of our favorite getaways. 2 nights at Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat
Fisher Cat Creek was a great spot to relax and disconnect. Thank you to David and Veronica for the hospitality, the cabin was very comfortable and cozy. Everything was very clean and ready to go (having a little dog that sticks his little nose on everything we appreciate how tidy everything was). We had a couple of rainy nights but there was plenty of dry firewood to cook on the stove inside. We spent a lot of time reading on the couch with the sound of the rain and Archie had a great time while we explored the surrounding woods, definitely recommend going on a hike!!
David and Veronica have thought of everything we could have needed, kitchen has literally all the utensils, beds were clean and comfy, plenty of firewood and drinking water, T.P., BBQ setup, lots of books and boardgames, plus the long dog tie out leash already set up was perfect! It was so comfortable we could have stayed way longer. What a cool place, very thoughtfully designed and built! Can’t wait to come back some other time!

This place was so cool! I loved staying the YURT. The surrounding wilderness and stream on the land made it so peaceful. A lot of bird watching, wildlife sightings, and gorgeous flowers and trees. I enjoyed the comfort of being high up with a locked door and windows open to hear the crickets. I will return for another trip. Anytime of the year would be fine since there is heat and air conditioning. So lovely!
