Neal Homestead Camp

The stone cabin is on my great grandparents' farmhouse foundation. He remembers his mother scrubbing the board walk to the outhouse every Saturday until the boards were white. Now the composting toilet is inside the cabin. Cornerstones of the old barn is in the field above the cabin. The soil is very rocky and Grandpa said they " lived on elderberries and groundhog". There is 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek and back up through a hemlock forest. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. I love the rocks on the property huge and small. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest and relaxation in a hammock. There is one along the little stream and one at Outdoor Adventure Camp Site.  No hunting on property but fishing allowed.  Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low.

Memory Park Campground

Memory Park is a primitive, beautifully maintained family-owned private campground located near beautiful Atwood Lake State Park.  First developed in 1968, Memory Park offers peace, quiet, and tranquility for you and your family for that perfect weekday or weekend getaway .

There are plenty of primitive sites to choose from, including Murphy Meadow, Outback Bend, Honeymoon Point, and Shady Rest, just to name a few. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit.
 
Firewood is available ($10 through hipcamp or cash on-site per full wheelbarrow load).

Memory Park is the ideal rustic environment to restore the soul, including simple activities like sitting around a fire, reading or taking a nap, hiking, cooking over the fire, observing nature, and enjoying fellowship with friends.

Water is available from two hand pumps on the property. Electricity is not available. Quiet generators are welcome.

Camping at Heritage Farms

Heritage Farms was founded in 1848 by my great great uncle, Lawson Waterman. I am the 5th generation to farm the land and carry on the legacy that started 175 years ago. Each generation has done something different with the land. My father started raising Christmas trees on the farm in 1955. I took over in 1979, growing Christmas trees and other crops. Today, our focus is agrotourism. Besides growing Christmas trees, we host a Handcrafted Artisan Market 6 times during the the summer months and celebrate fall with our month-long Pumpkin Pandemonium in October. We added camping 8 years ago after a trip to Denmark, where we saw our first camping shelters.

THINGS WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING:

1. Sites 1 through 6 have a shelter and room for 2 tents. Sites A through J are tent sites only, with room for 3 tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers

2. All vehicles (except bicycles) must park in the parking lot.

3. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.

4. You must carry all your gear to your camp site. We have wheeled carts for you to use.

5. Our Ohio Primitive Camping License does not allow for any wheeled camping on the farm. This includes car camping, truck campers, popups, RV's, and any other wheeled camping vehicle.

6. Due to Summit County Health Regulations, we can not provide any water. Please bring in all your drinking and wash water. You can also purchase 1 gallon jugs when you make your reservation or upon arrival at Heritage Farms using our Paypal QR code or with cash.

7. No outside firewood may be brought on to Heritage Farms property. Firewood is available for purchase when you make your reservation. There is a discount for buying your firewood at the time you make your reservation. We deliver firewood to you, it will be waiting at your site upon your arrival with your free bundle of kindling. You may also purchase firewood when you arrive at Heritage Farms using our Paypal QR code, with credit card or with cash.

8. Check-in is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. If you will be arriving after 7:00pm, please let us know your estimated time of arrival. If we know you are arriving after dark, we will mark your site with a solar light. Check-out is before 10:00am.

9. Only registered Hipcamp campers are allowed on property. There is a public picnic area 1/4 mile south of the farm if you would like to socialize with friends and family, who are not camping at Heritage Farms.

10. DOG POLICY: Dogs are welcome WITH PRIOR PERMISSION ONLY from the farm owners. We limit the number of dogs on property each day. There is a dog registration form you must fill out when you arrive, so be sure you have your dog's rabies tag information. Unvaccinated dogs are not allowed. All dogs MUST be on a leash and physically in your control at all times. No pets may be left unattended at any time. You must take your pets with you any time you leave the farm. 

11. Tent site occupancy is limited to 6 campers and 3 tents. Our shelter site occupancy is limited to 6 campers and 2 tents. 

12. Please read our Farm and Safety Rules before booking.

Our 15 primitive campsites are 25 yards to 50 yards apart. This allows plenty of social distancing, as well as privacy. The 15 primitive tent camp sites at Heritage Farms open Friday April 21, 2023. From September 20, 2023 to October 21, 2023 only Camp Sites 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5 and G, H and J will be open.

Heritage Farms is a 5th generation, 115-acre farm located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our primitive campsites are located along the boundaries of the southeast portion of the property. We have worked hard to place sites so there is privacy with beautiful views. Some tent sites are just feet from the park boundary. We are a working Christmas tree farm, so our tree fields are the backdrop for all of our camping sites. Every site provides you with either a gorgeous sunrise, a beautiful sunset, or both. The sunsets at Heritage Farms are awesome.

We ask that no trash be left at campsites. Please take it home with you or deposit it in the dumpster in our parking area. Due to county health department regulations, you must bring in all water. There are 4 portable toilets near the parking area. There is plenty of parking in our parking area.

Firewood can be purchased as an extra for an additional cost when you make your reservation. You can preorder firewood at the time of your booking, or at Heritage Farms by using our PayPal QR Code posted throughout the farm or with a credit card or cash.

At our information booth, you will find charging stations for charging your electronics and plugs for the electric pump on your air mattress.

We do not allow generators in any of our camp sites. Also, at the info booth, you will find: camp rules, emergency information, CVNP trail maps, info on local restaurants and stores, and fliers about Heritage Farms.

We have a few events at Heritage Farms you might be interested in:

PENINSULA FLEA ARTISAN MARKETS: Check out our 70+ local artists from 10:00am to 4:00pm on June 3rd, June 17th, July 1st, July 22nd, August 5th
and September 2nd. There will be food trucks and live music. Free to all.

PUMPKIN PANDEMONIUM: Enjoy the fall colors, live music, food vendors, and activities. Admission tickets are required for our maze, scavenger hunt, kids zone, and the hayride. Pumpkins, straw bales, corn stalks, and fall decorations will be available for purchase. Pumpkin Pandemonium takes over the farm on weekends from September 23rd to October 22nd. September and October are beautiful months to camp on the farm. Please note that our hayride trail passes some of the campsites.

The small village of Peninsula is a short 1/4 mile walk from the farm. There are 2 restaurants, a great music venue, hike and bike trails, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park right at our door step. We even have a local swimming area called The Quarry that offers day passes to visitors. Peninsula and our farm are true gems in a beautiful rural wooded setting 15 minutes from Blossom Music Center, numerous restaurants, retail areas, CVNP, Akron and Cleveland Metro Parks, and just about anything else you may want or need.

Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp

Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground includes 35 acres of unlogged wilderness forest with roads, trails and 2100 feet of riverfront on the Dry Fork River.   Grand Opening was July 4th weekend, 2022 and the camp is now open seasonally form mid-April through mid-November annually.

The new camp includes 15 camping sites (firepits, slabwood benches, parking, and future picnic tables), 5 primitive shelter cabin sites (10x`12 lofted barn cabins with hasp for your padlock), and a 10 short term RV sites along the river (RV's 30 foot or less recommended)... each with firepits and slabwood benches.   4 RV sites have full electric and water hook-ups, the other 6 boon-docking for 2023.

The camp is situated on nearly 4 miles of wilderness riverfront on a dead end stunning road, and yet just a few miles to the beautiful town of Parsons WV in Tucker County (home of Thomas / Davis / and Canaan Valley).

The Dry Fork and Black Fork Rivers combine nearby, the cable suspension bridge to Hendricks is less than half a mile downstream, the Fernow Experimental Forest is just a mile downstream, and the Monongahela national forest and huge unlogged forests are all around! 

Waterfalls, creeks, kayak drop points, swimming, tubing, hiking, fishing, and water recreation abounds.

The camp does have water spigots for general use (spring water source, not chlorinated or treated), an office cabin and electric charging access area near the office.  Porta-potties in 2023 (cleaned weekly) and the beautiful town of Parsons is just 4 miles away with all conveniences, shopping and eateries.

The Trout Camp

Welcome to The Trout Camp, aka Fontinalis Farms, a small, family-owned campground nestled beside the Monongahela National Forest on the banks of Big Run and The North Fork River. Our spacious site offers 30 acres to explore, with 15 tent sites and annual RV sites available for reservation.  Kids under 16 are free! (just don't count them in your booking)

Our campground features a convenient shower house with well water and flush toilets, but we do ask that you bring your own drinking water. Take a dip in the river, cast a line and fish, or simply relax in the serene surroundings.

As you arrive, we kindly ask that you respect the privacy and posted speed limit of our neighbors.

Please practice Catch and Release while visiting.

Firefly Ridge is a luxury camp retreat nestled in the stunning Cacapon Mountains in the Appalachians Ridge of West Virginia. Our mission is to provide guests with a luxury glamping experience that blends the beauty of the natural world with the comfort and convenience of a high-end resort.

Grins & Pickin's CampFarm

Grins & Pickin's CampFarm was created to share the outdoors with others.  Growing food & flowers, camping & hiking is what we like to do. And we like sharing these activities with others. Our family oriented outdoor recreation facility is open on weekends only and offers primitive camping, PYO produce during the growing season, homesteading activities & nature-based programs. 

The peaceful 20-acre country farm has food gardens, a frog habitat pool, a barnyard for the chickens & ducks, a bluegill fishin' pond, a pollinator maze, a prairie garden, and an outdoor stage. After crossing a winding creek into 10 acres of woods, you may see deer, turkey, fox, coyote, mink, eagles & barred owls. 

In early spring, the peepers are peeping, wildflowers are abundant & the vernal pools welcome the wood frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies & dragonflies. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods. 

We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper.

We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you).  2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).

Camp Holly

My Spot - Private Camping

Nestled under the shade bequeathed by a tall canopy of deciduous trees and alongside a gentle flowing brook, lies a forest opening perfect for immersing in nature’s solitude. 

Our private campsite is a short walk (3-4 minutes) from parking where you’ll find a footpath that empties out onto a level forest understory, surrounded by trees ideal for pitching tents and hammocks.  Our campsite is equipped with the necessities:  a firepit with a removable grill, a large table, and your own private outhouse with a composting toilet. 

Trails leading from the campsite will usher you short distances to our best stargazing hilltop, for playing in the shallow creek running alongside our campsite, as well as shaded forest and ridgetop views.  Our pond, equipped with a dock, ladder and seating is a favorite  short 7 minute hike for swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing. For longer hikes, any trail will connect you to our larger network of maintained trails over hill and dale, through shaded forests and open (mowed) pasture trails and farm-life views across our 80 acre farm. 

To make your packing lighter and your stay more comfortable, we offer the following "extra items" at an additional cost:  

- Firewood bundles (unlimited)

- 5 gallons of water (or less) in jugs with handy pour spout

- Charged battery pack with plug and USB receptables

- Stringed twinkle lights - prehung (we do the hanging before you arrive) 
      * must be ordered with our charged battery pack or bring own power 
        source.

Kickapoo Kamping

This location in Ohio is about a 10-minute walk to Dillon Dam, Reservoir and Lake! The road that was there was called Yelp Town Hollow Road. The road that this camp was on had to be raised when they put the dam in, they even had to move the one room school house! Black Hand Gorge preserve isn't far from the camp, lots of hiking and bicycle trails. Dillon State Park is 10-15 miles away with trails for horses, walking and biking. About 3,000 acres of State and Federal Land is right in our backyard!  Learn more about this land:Set your tent up in a wooded area or near a stream. Great star gazing and forest bathing. The area is in the Yelptown Hollow Valley, the road and one room school house Yelptown School are reminiscent of a bygone era. The old road bed is near camping and old school house has relocated to a site nearby. Come enjoy the laid back ambience of the area! Peaceful, solitude, nearby stream.

Rendezvous Farm

This raw forested land bordering George Washington National Forest on two sides was purchased in 2002. Over the next six years a 2 acre pasture and .8 acre house site were cleared on weekends, a small pond was dug, additional land was cleared and a wildlife planting made, then our home and multiple outbuildings were constructed.  We began raising chickens for meat and eggs, as well as rabbits, quail, doves and pigeons, and developed two vegetable and fruit gardens to provide food for ourselves and to sell at farmer's markets. The property is a state certified Wildlife Partners Habitat because of the many improvements made for wildlife. Allen and Peggy were married atop a special rock on the property in 2004.
