It's time to try to find out, how nice it is to camp on your own campsite amidst 6 wooded acres alongside Bear Creek, with Bear Stream running through the middle of it. Quiet and private, with paths and trails on the property. Dry firewood is provided there at the campsite. There is a charcoal grill ready to use, though you must bring your own charcoal. A small RV onsite provides a bathroom and shelter, but camping by the creek, listening to the water running is the way to do it. The site is also very private and naturist ready, and a perfect place for your dogs or your children to run free, so it's time to get back to nature. Since guests have the whole site, they can decide whether it's clothing optional or not. With the new boat launch site near Capon Bridge, on the Cacapon river nearby, and a few more upriver towards Wardensville, it's a great site for kayakers or canudists to plan river outings and stay nearby. There are multiple places to set up tents, or hammocks, either at the main campfire ring, or at several sites away from the main campsite. Throughout spring, rear wheel drive is recommended, and 4 wheel drive might be needed, and during the summer if heavy rain is expected. I would not recommend front wheel drive cars being used there in the spring, unless it is dry out. The RV is limited to two adults, and two to three children, for sleeping, due to it's size. Heading west, is the Canaan Valley and Davis and Thomas, WV. Both towns have many things worth visiting and are close together, and Winchester is 30 minutes away for supplies.

We have 7+ very private acres along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, which has been in our family for over 50 years and where we currently live. You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. We are native plant enthusiasts and are fortunate to have many native species of trees and plants on our property. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Five night maximum permitted. We prefer that guests arrive before dark. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.

This spot is a gem and the hosts are gracious with many other amenities. I would highly recommend this spot for 1-3 people or 2 people and a dog looking for a waterfront site for a more relaxed camping experience. "More relaxed" because the tent platform makes tent setup easy, and you don't have to worry about issues with the ground, and John and Mary have firewood and a fire pit ready for use. I'll be coming back soon.

My friend and I had a great time staying here! Mark was very hospitable and made things very easy for us. The area is stunning with the fall leaves. Other than some cows and a rooster far off on a different property, it was very quiet and peaceful the whole time. The bed was very soft, and the coffee Mark gave to us was the best I've had in awhile! Be sure to use smaller pieces of wood for the hot tub so it heats up faster. A relaxing and lovely time, highly recommend!

We absolutely loved camping on Ralph's farm. The eggs and honey was delicious. He has horses, cows, sheep and a very friendly donkey. We were able to fish on the property and they had cut wood available for purchase which was very convenient. Ralph was very accommodating. There is a bathroom with a shower, a place to wash dishes, each campsite had a fire pit and plenty to explore. Definitely a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I definitely want to come back in the future! Thanks to Ralph for a wonderful experience

We loved staying at the cabin. It was comfortable and fun, and we loved meeting the animals. The view and scenery was beautiful and relaxing. This is a great location close to George Washington National Park. The campsite itself is shaded and nicely laid out with a picnic table, fire pit and privacy The family is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area. There are friendly goats, pigs and chickens. Strasburg is a cute town with a nice river walk and good local brewery.
