Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others.
Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience.
In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house!
We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you!
Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. (:

A Few “Concerns” to Clear Up
• “This isn’t off-grid.” If your idea of off-grid is 100 miles from civilization and reachable only by carrier pigeon, then sure — we’re not that. But there’s no power, no running water, no gas line, and nothing tied into municipal infrastructure. We’re powered by nature, not a utility bill. So yes, we’re off-grid — just not your wool-socks-and-Birkenstocks version of it. (Though, for the record, we wear Birkenstocks too.)
• “We were seen in towels.” Hmmm… which is why we gently suggest skipping the towel parades through camp. Our enclosed shower stalls are there for a reason: shower, dry off, then get dressed before rejoining the great outdoors.
• “It was in somebody’s backyard.” Sorry — our two acres aren’t tucked away in the middle of a federally protected reserve in the middle of nowhere. But our closest neighbor is nearly 300 feet away, and we happen to think riverside camping with a little civilization nearby is a pretty great trade-off.

If those realities feel unacceptable, we wish you luck finding a soundproof, neighbor-free, bird-mute utopia. But if you’re after a laid-back, laughter-filled, and unapologetically outdoor getaway on the banks of the South River — welcome. You’ve found it.

Weekend Trip to Fairy Glen Farm
We absolutely loved this stay. John and Suzanne are so incredibly kind and inviting. We noticed a small problem with our tent when we first arrived, and before we could put all of our things down, John had already fixed it. Everything we needed was provided and even goods we didn’t know we needed- including a homegrown breakfast of eggs and tomatoes. We received great directions and recommendations that were incredibly helpful. We would absolutely come back again.

We had a wonderful time staying at MountainTop! From the idyllic surroundings to the cozy cabin, everything was lovely. Ed was an especially responsive, accommodating host. Such a relaxing stay, and a beautifully kept campground! (Glampground?) The site had everything we needed, even a couple things we forgot.
Sue greeted us and was a wonderful host, even gave us a tour of their beautiful grounds.

Weekend Trip to Fairy Glen Farm
Great property and great hosts. It was tranquil and a great getaway from the city. The owner lives across the street, far enough distance to have a little privacy. She greeted us with fresh eggs from her chickens. Would visit again!

The area was very relaxing and quiet. The Yurts was clean and comfortable. Annette answers questions quickly. The only thing complaint I have is the smell of the shower water. It smells like sewer water.

Great location with creek access throughout the camp. Beautiful hemlock forest surrounded by nature and peace! Lots of great places nearby to visit as well.

1 night at Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp
We had a lovely stay! Our cabin area was tidy and very peaceful with the lull of the river in the background. We enjoyed walking to the bridge down the road and exploring the local trails and riverfront. Ample camping amenities: coffee/tea/drinks/wifi available near the office area, plenty of wood/fire starter for those who needed some, and the port a potty was clean. Pro tip: bring your own potable water or a filter. There is plenty of fresh water available, but it's not potable. Vincent was an incredibly accommodating and personable host and you can tell how hard he and his crew work to keep the site in tip-top shape!

1 night at #1 Rock Tavern River Kamp
We stayed in the dancing wolf yurt for just one evening while passing thru. It was a wonderful, comfortable stay! Even thru the big rain storm which was pretty neat inside the yurt. Would stay again!

What an amazing campsite! Hats off to the owners that did a great job on the build out of the school bus. The site has everything you would need from a cooking station inside to functional grill out private outdoor shower and porta potty as well as hammock and fire pit. I appreciate the steps that we’re built to get down to the river for tubing and swimming. most of the campground is covered in mulch with cuts down on dirt and kept our puppy on the cleaner side.

We loved glamping here! The site and the outhouse were clean! Amber checked on us twice. They had milk and cheese for sale, unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to rush out the last morni g and did not get to purchase any! The water was blue and refreshing! The kids had an absolute blast in the water, even with the storms rolling through occasionally

Weekend Trip to B and M Journey Farm
Brittany and Mike are two of the kindest, most thoughtful, fun people we've met. A true joy to spend the weekend on their property with family and friend for our camp wedding. It was the most perfect setting and the most perfect weekend we could have imagined. The barn is out of a storybook, natural, lovely, and it was perfect for us to use to eat meals, dance the night away, and for a couple family member to sleep in. It kept us dry from the rain and had everything we needed. The cottage is beautifully renovated and the cutest place to stay full of everything you need - coffee, AC, a bathtub. It was the perfect getaway our second night staying after we camped in a tent the first night. Their land is stunning sitting up high with a beautiful view of the mountains and the vineyard. The greenhouse that sits on their property is such a unique and awesome place to relax in the mornings with a view of the mountains and the land. The animals are another awesome touch - everyone in our crew absolutely loved hanging out with the goats, cows, and puppies and it made for an unforgettable, lovely weekend. The property is so big with such wonderful camping spots, and we will absolutely be back! Thank you Brittany and Mike for allowing us to have our wedding here without any hesitation. We couldn't have dreamed up a better weekend. We are already looking forward to coming back to the cottage for our anniversary!

2 nights at The Oasis at Bear Run Farms
If you are debating booking this site, do it. We just spent two days at the waterfront cabin and this has been the most memorable trip. My son and I hail from Chicago and decided to make a detour to this spot on the way to see family in Baltimore. We had such an incredible time on the water and experiencing the beauty of this family’s farm. They were so helpful and accommodating, even lending us fans because we forgot ours at home. I got to spend a lot of time talking to Amber’s husband about their farm and their garden, and they even sent us home with some fresh veggies. Don’t skip out on the farm stand - we bought a lot of creams that Amber made as well as fresh milk and eggs. Waking up to cows at our window was a bonus. Thank you again for a trip my son will never forget!!

This was our second time at Brooklyn Heights in just 2 weeks because we loved it SO much! It was me, my fiance, and 3 kids, plus 2 big dogs! We rented one of the cabins this time & it was amazing. Having a fridge, electric and a/c really makes a mid-July stay so much more relaxing! We mainly just slept in the cabin & not much else because we were either at the river swimming/paddle boarding or relaxing by the fire pit, which is perfectly shaded, but it was surprisingly spacious & having a cool space & comfy bed at night was so great!!
Vince is so friendly and kind. The amenities are wonderful! The cheap firewood, the coffee pavilion, a place to wash dishes, and most importantly VERY CLEAN portapotties!!
No complaints! We cannot wait to come back again.

We stayed in the "glamping tent" and found it comfortable and well equipped, and Aaron was communicative and helpful.

The Waterfront Cabin was the perfect place to camp! Gorgeous view and easy access to a clear blue lake. The cabin was stocked with clean linens, towels, lots of pillows, and other thoughtful items like solar lights, tiki torches, a pop tent that we placed over the picnic table, cornhole boards, cooking equipment, a propane grill, fire pit, and tubes for use in the lake. We loved walking the grounds to see the beauty hidden within this working farm and loved waking up to the cows munching outside the cabin and letting us pet them! Looking forward to returning again!
