Our secluded 80-acre farm is nestled in a valley between three mountains, where two babbling creeks meet—over two miles from the nearest residence. Camp at the Main Circle near our home trailer, cabana, and bonfire area, with access to electricity and Wi-Fi. For a more rustic experience, Kolb Field offers a peaceful spot along Coon Creek, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot.
A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty!
We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

Close to Snowshoe Mountain, at only 1 mile drive from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. We offer camping for all ranges of groups and travelers. We have campsites for tents, cars and vans, big RV's and Trailers, and then group sized sites. Camping at Possum Holler Camp will provide you the perfect blend of solitude and recreation access. You will truly be in the heart of the New River National Park, yet still feel secluded in the beautiful woods without neighbors. You will have private access to beautiful and idyllic Mill Creek, which has many beautiful emerald pools and is even seasonally stocked with rainbow trout! Within a mile you can access the New River Gorge Bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center, and you are equally close to the park's world class climbing, rafting, hiking, ziplining, and mountain biking at the New River Gorge National Park and surrounding areas. Your group will have the entire camp to yourselves, so there's no need to worry about noisy neighbors.
Our driveway has recently been revamped to include more flat parking and a less steep access route! While these improvements are great, we still caution our guests to avoid bringing large trailers and to use 4WD if available in an attempt to minimize rutting in the future.
Seasoned hardwood firewood is available on site for $6/bundle. You are allowed to bring your own firewood, but only if you source your firewood locally because invasive pest species can travel in firewood.
Possum Holler Camp is a Leave No Trace campsite, guests are asked to pack out anything they bring in and leave the area undisturbed. This includes damaging vegetation, creating new fire rings, or altering the natural area in any way. Also, please do not camp in the meadow area and only use the cleared out areas in the woods surrounding the parking and picnic/fire area for pitching tents.
If you stay below the high water line, then feel free to move as far up or downstream Mill Creek as you like. The creek is indescribably beautiful in both directions! But please keep in mind that there is private property once you are above the high water line, please do not trespass on our neighbor's property.

Camping a mile from Sutton Lake Dam in West Virginia. Our campground serves as the perfect retreat. A place to unwind, with minimal to no traffic. Off a backroad, with a few creeks to cross driving up. You are really out in nature. Our property offers lots of places to hike, although in the heart of summer, it can get a little overgrown (Plus critters, yikes!) The creek that runs up the Holler is the perfect place to explore. Low enough to tromp around and catch some minnows.
Please note ***When navigating to our house, you MUST first select the town of Sutton. Once you reach this destination, you can input our physical address for correct directions. Otherwise, the GPS system will take you to a dead end back road.***

We are a working farm and do have a flock of Chickens and Guinea fowl. We also are very Kitty friendly here. Unfortunately no dogs permitted at the 'Fairyland' property. However, you can keep your friendly dog on our 'Down the Holler' site.
There is always a friendly animal to visit with. Please make sure you are respectful to our home and animals.
Keep in mind, the creek can run high in bad weather, so I recommend an all wheel drive car, or with high clearance. That being said, small cars will get through when the creek is down.
This is primitive camping. No toilet or shower our amenities are available.

Our RV full hook-up site was fairly level with only minor side-to-side and front-to-back leveling needed. Our site was maybe 30 feet from the river - great background noise to enjoy an evening around the firepit, although didn't see any trout. Be aware, the locals cruise the streets and off road trails on noisy quads. This absolutely stopped after dark. As for nearby activities: definitely drive to Helvetia, park and walk the town. If you can visit before the end of June 2026 drop by the authentic swiss store/post office - they are closing the doors at the end of June. Definelty book a reservation at The Hutte for early dinner (they close at 6PM) for traditional swiss/German cuisine. Walk through the restaurant- it's like a local historic museum. Everybody is super friendly so remember to wave. Take it easy on the roads with your rig - they are very winding and hilly.

Czar Haus campground was very nice, quite, peaceful. The site was well done. Robert was there to make sure we were all good and did not need anything. The small creek is so nice we let our dog splash and play. If I am in the area I would book it again. Robert knew what he was doing when he laid the sites out. We saw Deer every morning and evening. If you are looking for a real West Virgina quite spot it's here.

Ray's place was very quiet, clean and was a great price too!. Our electric site was larger than expected. Shower house was very clean with plenty of hot water! There was a laundry spot as well as a community room with a large TV, couch and kitchen. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

The campground had a clean bath house with hot showers , a washer/dryer, potable water, electric at the site, community kitchen. Dogs allowed. There were I believe 8 RV sites and lots of tent sites. it was very quiet..

Conveniently located near New River Gorge National Park and Fayetteville, Ray’s is a great stopping point. The campground was easy to find, and the campground map made it easy to find out site after hours. Facilities like the showers and bathrooms were basic - nothing fancy, just good to have on a multi-day trip. There’s also a nice common area for campers, though we didn’t use it. I’d stay here again.
