Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Weekend Trip to The Warbler’s Nest

We loved this property. Well thought out design creates a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor space. We had a rainy weekend but between the very large weatherproof tent and the covered outdoor kitchen the bad weather wasn't an issue at all. Kitchen is fantastic and has everything you need, just bring your food. Very nice bathroom/shower, Solo fire pit and grill. The deck is surrounded by nature and a butterfly habitat. Whether done on purpose or just the natural flowers, we were surrounded by small birds and butterflies when the sun was shining. Super easy to find and a private driveway that is lit at night to guide you in. One of my favorite spots via HipCamp so far. Very good value. Highly recommend.

My wife and I returned from July 22–26, 2026, and once again had an absolutely wonderful experience. The pond-side A-frame cabin and surrounding campsite are truly special. The property is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by nature. The cabin offers the perfect balance of comfortable camping and an authentic outdoor experience, especially with the screened opening that lets you enjoy the fresh air and nighttime sounds without dealing with the bugs. Jenny and Logan are exceptional hosts. They are friendly, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely want their guests to have a great stay. Their hospitality is one of the biggest reasons this place stands out. They are always available when needed and make you feel completely welcome from the moment you arrive. The entire site is clean, organized, and thoughtfully arranged. It is obvious how much work and care they have put into the cabin, campsite, farm, and surrounding land. This is the kind of place where you can truly slow down, unwind, and enjoy time together. We loved our stay and will absolutely return again. Jenny and Logan, you continue to impress us—y’all rock! This little a-frame was wonderful!! I was on my way home from NYC so I needed a quiet woodsy recovery space and this was perfect. Nestled in the hilly woods but not too far to walk to, and a screened window to open to hear all the woods sounds. I fell asleep to the sound of rain too early to hear the owl, but apparently there was one! I also love the history of this place - the a-frame was built in the same spot as an old cabin that eventually fell apart. J's grandfather was born in that cabin way back when.

Weekend Trip to Whippoorwill Retreat

Really close to ohio river and Forked Run State Park where we kyacked. Amazing property. A little hike in up and down through the woods. Greeted with the cutest little cabin stocked with anything you could possibly need and more. Perfectly situated in a small clearing with the fire pit and picknick table just far enough away from the cabin. The cabin is facing a rock formation and humming birds were playing all around us. We saw a deer and cooked on the camp stove and drank a whole bunch of the provided water(thanks again). There is a cute outdoor shower...my jam, that was really cold, but nice to rinse off. Mostly sat on the porch because it was super hot out but when went to bed the soft lighting and fans kept us comfortable. Almost want to keep it a secret, but this place was a diamond in the ruff. @_amy__adventures

Weekend Trip to Birdhouse Farm Camp And Cabin

We had an amazing time at the Farm! Logan helped us haul our gear to the site with a little trailer on his mower, the outdoor shower was so cute and the outhouse was right across from our site. It's about a 5-6 minute walk from the parking area, so the help hauling was needed. The A-frame was perfect and we loved lifting the front, putting up the bug net (a must) and sleeping in the open air! Logan even brought us an extra bundle of wood when I texted we were low and helped us motor out our gear in the morning. The site is SO peaceful, so many different birds. The 5 gallon jug of water, with pump, was perfect, outhouse has all you need and is pretty nice (as outhouses go lol). Super private (we were the only camper there on a Friday night). we had hiked cedar Falls/Ash Cave in Hocking Hill and then just about an hour drive to the site. My first camp trip taking my dog along and with a tieout he had roaming area of the whole site. Highly recommend, great hosts and site!

4 nights at Appalachian Retreat Camp

Our first time camping in a camper, and it was awesome! This campsite is a perfect example of what happens when owners genuinely care about the experience they create for their guests. Every aspect of the property reflects thoughtful planning and attention to detail, from the well-maintained grounds to the carefully designed layout that balances privacy, comfort, and access to nature.

Jennifer and her husband are amazing hosts. The land is beautiful, and the campsite offers a private experience with lots of amenities and luxuries. I highly recommend any and all of their campsites, I know I will be returning in the future!

2 nights at Appalachian Retreat Camp

Nature Camper is an absolute treasure of a space! We stayed in the trailer and it is wonderfully appointed with hot and cold running water, a propane stove, outdoor shower, a gorgeous back deck, and a hip composting toilet in the outhouse. The property is magnificent, offering some great hikes and gorgeous scenery. The trails are clearly marked, and you can actually enter the Wayne National Forest from the property. We happend to be there for one rainy night, and the sounds were magnificent. We also hear the coyotes calling! There were no fewer than 10 bird species singing in the morning! The site is also cloe to everything in the Marietta area. You are very close to the town, the Ohio river, the Wayne National Forest. serval trailheads, and lots of attractions. I highly recommend The Nature Camper!

1 night at Appalachian Retreat Camp

We had a lovely stay in the renovated camper that’s got everything you could need. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the creek and enjoying the peace and quiet. Would recommend the site for anyone looking to get away but still wanting some creature comforts.
