This property is a mix of woods of great old oaks and Maple and grassy fields full of wildflowers in spring and has several points that offer views of the Columbia river and Mt. Hood . It also has a seasonal farm stand filled with produce and products that are all grown, raised or made right here on this farm. It also has a big 1 acre garden for you to stroll thru and to pick your own fresh produce from if you like or pick our brain about gardening strategies. Or perhaps you would like to check out the farm animals and feed them apples and meet our Kunekune pig who loves belly rubs. Another local attraction is wine tasting at one or all of the 4 wineries in the neighborhood, 2 of which are within walking distance of your camp. Beyond the camp, there are countless recreation opportunities within a few mins drive of camp including numerous hiking and biking trails, rock climbing, fishing, swimming, beaches, boating, windsports, wildlife viewing, bird watching, kayaking, paddleboarding, white water rafter.

Please read the whole description and understand the car/trailer length limits before booking. 32' (thirty-two feet) means car and trailer, not just the trailer. Smaller trailers like the teardrops or fifteen footers can be backed in easily, but if you're over 32 feet with vehicle the space to maneuver is too small. Your camp site is under tall fir trees on fairly level ground. The site is next to a county road (see pictures), but traffic is very light. Next to your camp site is a 12x20 foot deck by a clear pond with beautiful trout and a running creek. A large picnic table is provided. It is a semi private location as the owners (us) also enjoy the pond and creek, and use the driveway. You can see the main house from the campsite but it's very quite. There is absolutely NO fishing allowed in the pond! The large trout in the pond are for your viewing enjoyment. 25cent fish food dispenser. There is a clean privy; it's not fancy but it works and we use it when we're working outdoors. We think you'll find it quite acceptable. It's only a few yards from your camp site. There is a fresh water spigot between the main house and the privy to fill water bottles or water for cooking. Just lift the handle for water to flow. Pour gray water in bushes away from the camp site. Hipcampers ARE WELCOME to walk our big garden. Simply walk past the privy, over the wooden bridge and through the white gate to see flower gardens, ponds, fruit trees, and berry bushes. We love to share our space with you, however, we ask that you limit your garden walk to one time so that your walking experience is balanced with our desire for privacy. Keep gates closed and stay out of sheep paddocks. Children: This is a wonderful and fun place for children, but the waterwheel and ponds deserve your attention. Keep children safely away from the waterwheel, and be next to them when viewing it. You must be diligent if your children don't have experience with open water. Please do not allow them to throw our landscaping rocks into the ponds as I have to dig them all out later. For some reason kids love to throw rocks into ponds! Just down the road only 100 yards, is a school playground with swings, basketball courts, tennis courts and a huge field to play on! So bring your frisbee, soccer ball or any other field toys. Don't leave food out at night! That could attract unwanted furry visitors. There is a healthy population of bear and cougar in this area. These animals generally stay away from humans, but you should carry a horn or bear spray when hiking in the woods of the Columbia Gorge. Go right to your camp site. We may come greet you when you arrive if we're home, but then leave you alone to your own peace and quiet. There is parking at the campsite for two vehicles side by side, or a car and trailer. We may accommodate a third vehicle with prearrangement. Camper Trailers: The driveway is circular, so you can pull in at either entrance, get out and take a look at how best to back your trailer into its spot. Live music at your campsite is an experience we offer. Great for kids!

Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem at the end of a dead-end road on 17 acres of land, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside of Carson, Washington, Waterfall Sanctuary is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, and chickens. Deer and elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or a short drive) to the Wind River and a perfect swimming hole with a rope swing, and another short distance further down the road is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive and you're at the Columbia River, the world destination for kiteboarding and windsurfing. Water equipment can be rented from nearby businesses or you can book a whitewater rafting trip on the White Salmon River. An hour from the property to the West is Portland, Oregon if you are in the mood for some city life, and about 40 minutes to the east is Hood River, Oregon, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm, shopping, breweries, and great restaurants. Drive the Fruit Loop or do a winery tour. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is also home to adorable shops, great local restaurants, and access to the Columbia River as well. Also in close proximity are multitudes of amazing waterfalls, Panther Creek Falls and Falls Creek Falls being the two closest. National Forest roads are close by and well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Please, keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided for our guests to be able to access other parts of the property. We keep it that way not only so we can attract the copious amounts of wildlife that are a joy for our guests to experience, but also to be more environmentally and ecosystem friendly. We are also off grid and as sustainable as possible- no electricity or running water is available, although we provide battery or solar operated lighting, and a container of water for each spot that we will happily refill for you during your stay.

The Snowden Yurt

The Snowden Yurt was built by Tova's uncle Kirk and originally used as a backcountry ski destination in the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley, Idaho. It is built completely by hand, similar to the traditional Mongolian style, with hand-hewn rafters, hand-made door, and hand-stitched fabric. Kirk's distinctive skylight rounds out the peaceful dwelling. Kitchen facilities include a coffee maker, camp stove, grill, and outdoor sink. Riverwild Glampground

Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature but has the comforts of home. The four lodging sites include 3 glamping tents and 1 large designated parking area with hookups for an RV or trailer (20' or less). To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. There is a large meadow with lawn games and two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back! The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 25 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - we have two superior rafting companies located nearby that can take you on a white water excursion down the White Salmon, and if wine is your thing, there are multiple opportunities for tasting and tours. Waterfalls are abundant in this area and there are a ton of hikes to see them, ranging from easy to difficult. Many of our guests comment on how peaceful it is here and that they've never slept better - so, in order to keep this space as relaxing as possible, I do not allow children unless all three tents are rented by the same party (there is a 15% discount though for renting all three!) Children are allowed if staying in an RV or trailer that is hard-sided (ie, nobody will hear the tantrums - whether it's from a child or their parent!) Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have 5 of our own who live onsite and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. Our cats (Daisy, Marabelle, and Baby Meow Meow) are friendly and social, so if you have allergies, please just be aware that they might come up to you for a quick visit! We also have two young dogs (Blue who is Husky/Black Lab and Rooster who is Corgie/Blue Heeler). I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow, just know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out. While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to liability - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge. If you want to try your hand at fishing, there is a small trail that leads down to the water's edge near the River House - just beware of the poison oak. Our propane fire pits are communal - one is located next to the kitchen, and one is next to the river. Both have igniters, just read the directions for lighting. We do not allow individual fire pits, nor wood-burning fires due to the county-wide burn ban that is in effect every summer. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. If you're bringing substantial amounts of food/beverage, you might also want a cooler, as space in the fridge could be limited. All food will need to be kept either in the refrigerator, or in a cooler or bin that animals can't get into. I offer a 15% discount when all three tents are rented by the same party, so just send me a message if you're interested in bringing friends. I'm also open to hosting small weddings/events of 50 or less - we host our own events here every summer and it's been a hit so I'm offering it up to others as well. Please do not allow them to throw our landscaping rocks into the ponds as I have to dig them all out later. For some reason kids love to throw rocks into ponds! Just down the road only 100 yards, is a school playground with swings, basketball courts, tennis courts and a huge field to play on! So bring your frisbee, soccer ball or any other field toys. Don't leave food out at night! That could attract unwanted furry visitors. There is a healthy population of bear and cougar in this area. These animals generally stay away from humans, but you should carry a horn or bear spray when hiking in the woods of the Columbia Gorge. Go right to your camp site. We may come greet you when you arrive if we're home, but then leave you alone to your own peace and quiet. There is parking at the campsite for two vehicles side by side, or a car and trailer. We may accommodate a third vehicle with prearrangement. Camper Trailers: The driveway is circular, so you can pull in at either entrance, get out and take a look at how best to back your trailer into its spot. Live music at your campsite is an experience we offer. Great for kids!

Once an old homestead. Learn more about this land: Hello Hipcampers. We do NOT sell firewood. Bring your own. Please read the whole description and understand the car/trailer length limits before booking. 32' (thirty-two feet) means car and trailer, not just the trailer. Smaller trailers like the teardrops or fifteen footers can be backed in easily, but if you're over 32 feet with vehicle the space to maneuver is too small. Your camp site is under tall fir trees on fairly level ground. The site is next to a county road (see pictures), but traffic is very light. Next to your camp site is a 12x20 foot deck by a clear pond with beautiful trout and a running creek. A large picnic table is provided. It is a semi private location as the owners (us) also enjoy the pond and creek, and use the driveway. You can see the main house from the campsite but it's very quite. There is absolutely NO fishing allowed in the pond! The large trout in the pond are for your viewing enjoyment. 25cent fish food dispenser. There is a clean privy; it's not fancy but it works and we use it when we're working outdoors. We think you'll find it quite acceptable. It's only a few yards from your camp site. There is a fresh water spigot between the main house and the privy to fill water bottles or water for cooking. Just lift the handle for water to flow. Pour gray water in bushes away from the camp site. Hipcampers ARE WELCOME to walk our big garden. Simply walk past the privy, over the wooden bridge and through the white gate to see flower gardens, ponds, fruit trees, and berry bushes. But, the more Roy worked on the Yurt the more it spoke to him letting him know how to proceed and what it should become -- resulting in this phenomenally peaceful and stress-free wilderness sanctuary where the sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the 100-year-old Douglas Firs Trees or through the ambient ether of the adjoining meadows. There are enough things to do in White Salmon, including hiking trails, biking trails, white water rafting, waterfalls, and paddling spots to keep you entertained for a weekend, week, or lifetime! NOTE: While we do accept Instant Bookings for both our Tree House and Yurt there may very rarely be a conflict with a booking received earlier from another site when the HipCamp calendar has not been updated to reflect that booking. You can choose wherever you want to put your tent. I open up my land to only one group at a time. Cell service is strong at the property. Work remotely while overlooking the view, and multiple picnic table locations. The treehouse has stools and countertops/desktops to work from if you choose to rent that as well. Rowland Lake is a great swimming spot at the bottom of the road (2 miles). I look forward to hosting you!
