Trumpkinland from Narnia

Trumpkinland Farm is part of what used to be an old dairy owned by one of the original settlers in this area. It is set in a rolling valley, surrounded by hills, mountains, and heavy forest. It is once again a dairy, with a name hearkening to Narnia, the books by C. S. Lewis. It is also, however, now a smallish family sized farm with many other species added to the mix. I raise a rare breed of dairy cow and several breeds of fiber sheep along with heritage pigs. Geese wander freely, along with a few turkeys. If you enjoy animals, there are many kinds of them here and most are friendly! Learn more about this land: First, about my farm name: My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm. Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest! You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods, tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper. If you are tent camping, don't forget a good pad under your sleeping bag! The ground is hard, uneven, and in some places rocky! As this property is also a farm, if you run short of food supplies, or want to buy some of what is produced right here on the farm, there are many options for that! From the gardens to wild fruit foraging, farms are all about food. Farms, camping, and the woods are also about relaxing. In this cannabis friendly state, if you choose to really RELAX, please relax respectfully. Cabin in the woods

There was originally a camper parked here with a roof over it while the main house was built back in th 1970s. When the home was finished the camper was moved out and it was turned into the cabin. It originally had a wood stove but it was always to hot so we replaced it with an electric heater and at the same time remodeled the interior. It is very comfortable for two to three people as it only has the bunk beds. Additional bedding can be furnished when needed. Included in cabin is a frig, microwave, small closet and dining table with 4 chairs. Jake's Landing River Front

Jake's Landing consists of the only general store, gas station, package center, catering/event center, and camping spot in the unincorporated town of Porthill, Idaho. Porthill is on the International Selkirk Loop located just south of the U.S. Customs office on State Highway 1, which is directly adjacent is the Rykerts Border Crossing in Canada. The International Border is also the start of the Wild Horse Trail Scenic Byway which travels from the border south on State Hwy 1 to US Hwy 95 south to Sandpoint, Idaho. Originally known by native Americans as Ockonook, which means grassy hillside place overlooking water. This was a historical Native American meeting place. The Hudson Bay Co. established it as a trading post around 1890, Porthill has enjoyed a long and colorful history. Camping here is a beautiful, country experience along the banks of the Kootenai River as it flows north into Canada. This picturesque spot is at the very top of Idaho surrounded by mountains. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc… as well as walking and biking the local area or enjoy the many beautiful hikes and waterfalls throughout the region. Arrive here by car, or boat, or plane via Eckhart international Airport grass landing strip adjacent to the accommodations. The perfect “Landing” spot for your getaway adventure. Iron Mountain Ranch

This cozy, partially screened guest hut is situated on 200 sweeping acres of pastureland and steep, rolling hillsides. Floor to ceiling windows on the west side allow for a gorgeous view of the mountains and the lovely night sky. Composting toilet and hot water shower with equally impressive views. Enjoy the view, hike, bike, horseback ride, relax by the creek, swim the Columbia or Kettle River and fish Elbow Lake. So much to do and all super close or actually on the property! Hut is 100% off grid Iron Mountain Ranch features the owner's hand built straw bale house which is run off solar power, a friendly herd of horses along with a few cats and three dogs. (look up the ranch social media accounts online for additional pictures). Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on May 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch. ***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.*** In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! Utilize the unique composting toilet, our own design which became the first approved toilet of it's kind in the county. A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be. Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses. Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

Cabin in the woods

There was originally a camper parked here with a roof over it while the main house was built back in th 1970s. When the home was finished the camper was moved out and it was turned into the cabin. It originally had a wood stove but it was always to hot so we replaced it with an electric heater and at the same time remodeled the interior. It is very comfortable for two to three people as it only has the bunk beds. Additional bedding can be furnished when needed. Included in cabin is a frig, microwave, small closet and dining table with 4 chairs. Trumpkinland from Narnia

Trumpkinland Farm is part of what used to be an old dairy owned by one of the original settlers in this area. It is set in a rolling valley, surrounded by hills, mountains, and heavy forest. It is once again a dairy, with a name hearkening to Narnia, the books by C. S. Lewis. It is also, however, now a smallish family sized farm with many other species added to the mix. I raise a rare breed of dairy cow and several breeds of fiber sheep along with heritage pigs. Geese wander freely, along with a few turkeys. If you enjoy animals, there are many kinds of them here and most are friendly! Learn more about this land: First, about my farm name: My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm. Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest! You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods, tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper. If you are tent camping, don't forget a good pad under your sleeping bag! The ground is hard, uneven, and in some places rocky! As this property is also a farm, if you run short of food supplies, or want to buy some of what is produced right here on the farm, there are many options for that! From the gardens to wild fruit foraging, farms are all about food. Farms, camping, and the woods are also about relaxing. In this cannabis friendly state, if you choose to really RELAX, please relax respectfully. With fiber animals in residence, handcrafted socks, sheepskins and an assortment of hand spun gift items are available for purchase. Iron Mountain Ranch

This cozy, partially screened guest hut is situated on 200 sweeping acres of pastureland and steep, rolling hillsides. Floor to ceiling windows on the west side allow for a gorgeous view of the mountains and the lovely night sky. Composting toilet and hot water shower with equally impressive views. Enjoy the view, hike, bike, horseback ride, relax by the creek, swim the Columbia or Kettle River and fish Elbow Lake. So much to do and all super close or actually on the property! Hut is 100% off grid Iron Mountain Ranch features the owner's hand built straw bale house which is run off solar power, a friendly herd of horses along with a few cats and three dogs. (look up the ranch social media accounts online for additional pictures). Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on May 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch. ***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.*** In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! Utilize the unique composting toilet, our own design which became the first approved toilet of it's kind in the county. A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be. Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses. Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.
