2 nights at Rhoda's Joy

We went with the expectation that there was another camper next to us but we ended up having the entire place to ourselves! It was such a beautiful property with all the walking paths and our favorite part was the big field and seeing the neighbors with all their farm animals. We met Rhoda on our last day where we met her and her husband and their pup. They both were so friendly and we will definitely be back with our kiddos this summer!

Stunning piece of property. Rhoda has 3 large, private, and very well-maintained sites. This spot is a gem and feels very remote, despite being only 30min from Vancouver. Great clean biffy too.

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Sanctuary

Our trip to Waterfall Sanctuary for a two-night camping getaway was absolutely relaxing and refreshing. We were immersed in nature at our campsite and enjoyed the diversity of the native plants around us, a hundred different bird songs coming from the trees and even spotted a few visitors at our campsite (a squirrel and a very inquisitive hummingbird!) Just a short walk away, we were spoiled with the luxury of a roomy sauna, coffee bar and bathroom and shower facilities. It was really the best of both worlds! Tyla was so kind and hospitable. She even helped us out by jumping our car when we accidentally let the battery die. We really enjoyed visiting with her and her various animals. Overall, an absolutely wonderful time. We can’t wait to go back again!

Weekend Trip to Lefever Holbrook Ranch

A nice farm with a beautiful view and lots of room for any size of vehicle (including towing large trailers). The team there is very friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful location for visiting the area. We had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE which was just as fast as any 5G we've experienced and there are no trees blocking the northern view for Starlink. Be aware there's no privacy between camp/parking sites and it's an active farm with all the animal noises that go with it. They're not intrusive, but you'll know they're there... We'll definitely be back if/when we visit the area again.

We stayed in site 2, and had a lovely night! The forest was quiet and beautiful, and the simple amenities were well done. Rhoda was not present during our visit, but made us very welcome in her messages. We would definitely love to come back and spend more time.

Great spot to escape the city and get an amazing sunset and sunrise over the Gorge! Host was quite accommodating and helpful. The camper parking spot is situated among the trees about 150 feet up the driveway from the house where the toilet is located.

1 night at Harvest Haven Campground

Super quiet and beautiful setting. Being close to the road was a non-issue, because there was virtually no traffic. It was a wonderful mix of farmyard vibes and a beautiful nature walk across the road. And although we didn't buy any eggs from their farm stand, I know they were good ones. Those chicken were living their best lives free ranging.

Lovely peaceful farmland with beautiful views :) friendly hosts. Really close to Catherine’s creek which was beautiful for a wildflower walk as well as not too far from the Dalles, and lots of shops nearby if you need any supplies.

Wow! Such a wonderful property and experience. Robert’s place was beautiful and worth booking. We (and the pups, one of them named River) had the property and views of mtn. Hood to ourselves. Would stay every time we come. Recommend!!!!

1 night at Zigzag Mountain Farm

Great, friendly staff. Lots of spots, even some yurts. The kitchen is a tri-met bus. I just wish they allowed fire pits on spot. I do understand the fire hazard, but I would like a personal fire pit.

2 nights at Rivers Ridge

We had a great 2 night stay at Rivers Ridge. We enjoyed birdwatching from the site - lots of great bird sightings. Also enjoyed nearby hiking and biking options. We'll be back, and plan to stay longer next time!

Weekend Trip to Crown Point Hipcamp

The site was really nice. There was some road noise, but it didn’t bother me at all. The outdoor shower was a nice treat and the site was well maintained. I would stay here again for sure. It would be fun to reserve both sites to share with friends.

Pink moon, blue eggs, orange fire. The gorge was on ‘high beauty’ alert this weekend as we returned to Robert’s place on the ridge. One of our favorite places. Happy to call ourselves ‘regulars’ :).

Absolutely beautiful location and Mount Hood even came out to see us before we left. We enjoyed exploring the public lands across the street, having fires in the fire pit, and relaxing on the beautiful property. As advertised with bonus pigs as neighbors!

The campsite was under the oaks near a country road that maybe had 4 cars go by during our 2 day stay. The view across the Columbia was beautiful. We walked down across the creek to give the pigs a scritch. This was a nice quiet place to rest.

Zigzag Mountain Farm

Located on Mount Hood about an hour from Portland, Zigzag Mountain Farm is home to an organic garden, old homestead, house, yurts, and barn. 50 acres of open meadows and forest, bordering thousands of acres of national forest. The farm is home to an organic garden, campfire circle, picnic area, a city bus with a campers' kitchen, outdoor seating area with BBQ, kids play structure and hiking trails. The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging. The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019 we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen. A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the late 1800's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail. Zigzag Mountain farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

Our camp is right off the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway just minutes away from Portland Women's Forum and Crown Point, the Jewel of the Columbia. Our facilities include an outdoor shower, a solar-powered composting toilet, fresh water, fire pits, and plenty of flat ground surrounded by trees for excellent camping! Please read this whole message so you are not surprised when you get here! Note: The use of the sauna, hot tub, and composting toilet are only for Glamp bookings! The campsites and tipi use the port-a-potty and have the use of an on-demand outdoor shower. Our home and farm is on two acres. Your tent site, is all in our ample acreage. Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm. Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. 25 years in the making from a cattle ranch and alfalfa pasture to a scenic wildflower and wildlife haven, our farm is a working winery and vineyard. We have reestablished native wildflowers and grasses back into our vineyard in order to help conserve native prairie habitat. 80 percent of our land is oak woodland and is in the process of restoring itself from the aggressive grazing of cattle. Therefore, our farm provides a shelter for deer, turkeys, hawks, and bobcats. We enjoy these animals and give them the space that is due for sharing the land. We do almost all of our work by hand and do not own a tractor or much other farm equipment so our farm is a quiet and relaxed setting. Our property lies in a seasonal creek bottom that is an infrequent source of water in our area. Because of this all of our household water and agriculture is run from a spring and wildlife come from a distance to replenish their thirst.

Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

Rhoda's Joy

This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people. Learn more about this land: We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles. There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries. Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive. We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. With the RV site, you have the option to book the treehouse as an “Extra”. Only one "campsite" is available on the property. Which means you're the only people out here. Peace and privacy abound. You can choose wherever you want to put your tent. I open up my land to only one group at a time. Cell service is strong at the property. Work remotely while overlooking the view, and multiple picnic table locations. The treehouse has stools and countertops/desktops to work from if you choose to rent that as well. But, the more Roy worked on the Yurt the more it spoke to him letting him know how to proceed and what it should become -- resulting in this phenomenally peaceful and stress-free wilderness sanctuary where the sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the 100-year-old Douglas Firs Trees or through the ambient ether of the adjoining meadows. Our property is located 1hr and 30 minutes from Mt Hood in Oregon. We are located in White Salmon, Washington. There are enough things to do in White Salmon, including hiking trails, biking trails, white water rafting, waterfalls, and paddling spots to keep you entertained for a weekend, week, or lifetime! NOTE: While we do accept Instant Bookings for both our Tree House and Yurt there may very rarely be a conflict with a booking received earlier from another site when the HipCamp calendar has not been updated to reflect that booking.
