Join us on our AG-2 zoned property for a unique hands-on conservation camp. Set beside our private property is a canal that leads into the Back Bay, this educational experience focuses on:

Waking up to the symphony of birds chirping in the morning and a gentle breeze rustling through the native foliage as you lay in the hammock enjoying your morning coffee. You can still catch sight of a deer or fox through the tall trees, spot dancing river otters on the bank or in the creek. The Wildlife Refuge is adjacent to this property and across the bay…In this area of Pungo you can expect to see migratory birds, more than 300 species call this place home…which affords some of the best bird-watching opportunities on the East Coast. While this is especially true during the fall and winter months, when thousands of birds, such as snow and canadian geese, tundra swans and a variety of duck species flock to the Bay to rest and feed before their long journey south, many species can be spotted year-round. Osprey, gannets, gulls and terns can be seen fishing. Wax Myrtles line the canal to the Bay which provides habitats for a variety of nesting songbirds. There is no shortage of waterfowl that can be spotted here. In addition to a large number of avian visitors each year, Back Bay is also home to many other species that crawl, swim, scurry and slither with a variety of snakes and turtles. Few places on the East Coast offer such unique beauty and diversity of wildlife and opportunities to experience all of these wonderful creatures in their natural habitats abound. Head out of our private launch on a paddle boat, paddle board or one of our kayaks into the bay to observe.

It was the perfect getaway. The yurt is nice and open to view the outdoors. Very comfortable bed inside as well. It was wet and cold but we stayed warm with the fire and wood stove. Amazing stay!

My wife and I loved our stay. The host was very hospitable and very accommodating. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and shown a well detailed tour of the property. The property was very well maintained and visually appealing. We were provided a wheel barrel full of fire logs and use of wheel rim for a camp fire (10$ when booked). The views for sunset and sunrise were stunning. We had total peace and quiet during our stay. We will be back in the spring to try our hand at fishing off the dock. Perfection.

Do yourself a favor and book this site! We loved every moment of our stay on Rod’s ‘oasis’.
The views were stunning, the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, and we even got to leave with some fresh blue crabs from the local
watermen - such a cool experience. Rod was wonderfully welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, and we learned some fascinating facts about the local culture. Thank you, Rod, for an amazing stay!

Roderick was super kind. He let me move to the spot with the best morning sunrise view, made sure I knew where the fire pit was and left the light on in the outside portal potty. He stood around for a moment to answer all my questions about his site, made me feel very comfortable. What a wonderful place to wake up, the sunrise was absolutely stunning.

Weekend Trip to Blanchard Farm
My favorite part of the property was the fun little things to do. Rope swings, hammocks, hunting stand to climb. It was fun to be walking around the woods and come across random little things. The yurt sites were very private and provided your own space for relaxing. I was the only one camping this weekend, but they still seem spaced out enough to feel secluded. Definitely more space than what is given between lots at a state park.
Josh and his wife were both very kind and helpful. I have a hard time packing too much around due to health issues, and Josh was kind enough to put me in the closest yurt and help me with the firewood I purchased. The yurt is spacious and gives you a home away from home feel while still being in the outdoors and leaving things like electricity away. I will definitely be back! Thank you so much for such a great trip.

What an incredible stay! The location is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, scenic, and right by the water. Rod and his wife were amazing hosts—so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The thing to take away from this is, we have started making this a regular destination. That really should be very telling. Everything about Oyster House is fantastic. Rod is an amazing host and genuinely cares. I love being able to step outside the camper and be able to wet a line, drop a crab trap, watch wildlife, enjoy amazing sunsets and unreal night skies, take a stroll, float a kayak, or a million other things. We are in love with everything about this destination.
