The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options.

Absolutely loved my first glamping experience! The Serenity Loft was absolutely beautiful and had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The stairs were a little tricky at first, but I got used to them. The property itself was gorgeous and so peaceful—it truly felt like a little getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle.
The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the experience even more special. One of my favorite added touches was having a golf cart available to get around the property as needed. It made exploring and enjoying the beautiful surroundings so much easier and more fun!
I would absolutely recommend this experience to all of my family and friends. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful, and memorable getaway, this is definitely the place to stay! I can’t wait to come back!

We had a great stay at this glamping place and would definitely recommend it! We went in the summer, and it was a little too hot, so I’d recommend visiting in the autumn when the weather is likely to be more comfortable. The night sky was incredible and made the evenings really special. Our host was super nice, welcoming, and helpful. We also had a lot of fun getting to drive the golf cart around. Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable stay, and I’d happily come back!

Weekend Trip to Kerr Lake Glamping at Holly Forest
My boyfriend and I loved staying at The Retreat (screened cabin)! Jim and Becky were amazing hosts. The directions and communication were clear from the start. Our space was lovingly put together and very thoughtful. We were a bit worried about how hot we might get during our 2-day/night stay in August, but all the fans, misters, and other battery-powered cooling options kept us nice and cool. So did the paddling pool! The land itself is beautiful and serene. We really enjoyed sitting at the fishing pond at sunset, watching the horses graze, and cooking in the outdoor kitchen. Driving the golf carts around and playing basketball were also highlights of our stay. We can't wait to be back and try a different cabin or tent option next time. Thank you so much for having us!

It was the perfect weekend, they take such good care of each guest you really feel like part of the family - all while giving you the space to enjoy their land to make your visit your own. No shortage of activities available to you on their land and in the local area! Plus everything is so well kept and maintained, I can’t wait to go back!

Wow. What a beautiful place. Jim and Becky were welcoming and gracious hosts. Becky met us upon arrival and gave us an overview of the extensive amenities. The "lodge" was lovely and a perfect sleeping temperature for us in late May without using any of the fans, etc. We enjoyed playing pickle ball for the first time on the camp's court and hanging out at the "gathering" afterwards. It would be a perfect place for families with children. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night during a long road trip - we would've loved to stay the full weekend. Thanks, Becky and Jim for sharing this place with us!

This was my second time at Holly Forest- stayed in two different units and had a great experience both times. Jim and Becky are so welcoming and attentive to details. Even on a cold December night we were warm in The Lodge with the heated mattress pad. Thanks for having us!

We stayed at this cabin at Holly Forest for a few nights over thanksgiving. The cabin held our little family (2 adults 2 young kids) well on the loft bed and the pull-out couch. The grounds are beautiful and we had a ton of fun at the basketball court and the field next to it. We cooked food in the provided toaster oven/air fryer but could have easily used the common area equipment too (grill, griddle pan, pizza oven). Hosts were responsive to our needs. Bathrooms were clean and close to our cabin. We would come back!

It was quite cold at night but we were given a space heater and the mattress had heating pads on both sides of the bed. The common areas had large space heaters and the showers gave us super nice hot water. It was so very cozy. We enjoyed fishing on their pond. The bathroom was so close to the lodge, we really didn’t need the golf cart they gave us, but it was fun to have anyways. They had huge jackery batteries that they made sure were full daily. This was genuinely a glamping experience. I loved it because we still definitely felt like we were “camping” just with high end amenities. We envisioned the entire space would be so perfect for any kind of weekend event just with all the different facilities within the sight.
We stayed with our pups and they loved seeing the cows in the morning!! First time we took them camping and they did so great. We had a great stay :)

We stayed at the screen house for one night and wish we could have stayed another night. The screen house itself was top notch… secluded yet close to the main area, clean, well maintained, and cozy. Jim and Becky did a great job of adding conveniences to the experience with heated beds, battery for charging, lighting, cooler with ice, bathhouse, cooking area with seating, and more. There are a few different options for accommodations including glamping tent, screen houses, and a cute little cabin with a loft. This is a great place for a group. They can cook together and enjoy the community space, very cozy. We will be back.

I loved the little screen house "The Retreat" that my wife and I stayed in! It was amazingly beautiful from the clear roof to the full open concept. Don't get me wrong there were privacy and blackout curtains to draw for privacy lol. Jim and Becky and their family are just amazing, and so is the property. Everything is so easy and convenient not to mention your own golf cart to wonder around on and get back forth from your place to the bathroom's, and the gathering place. They have a bull that is a BBQ grill and the smoke comes out of the nose, a long with a pizza oven a gas grill and flat top at your disposal. They also have some items there that you can purchase like pizza kits and wood, ect. They also host events and weddings!! All of their rentals are spread out for privacy of each other.

The Lodge was fantastic. Rustic but comfortable. It was nestled in the woods and close to everything. The property is beautiful. There are plenty of views and things to do. The hosts have thought if everything. Battery packs provide power for phones, fans, etc. A filled ice chest was provided for us upon arrival. Complimentary water, coffee, and tea. A large area for parties, a charcoal grill (In a steer sculpture, lol), small gas grill, and a pizza oven! Outdoor games, basketball, horseshoe pits, cornhole... They even have bamboo fishing poles for the pond!

Amazing! My daughter and I had SUCH a fun, relaxing experience! The property has lots to do, is beautiful, cabins are awesome and clean, and we felt safe! We particularly enjoyed the pickleball court:) Decorations/decor are so well done- lots of thought and care have gone into this place.
