Cross Creek Farm

8 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Southern Gateway, VA
**** Limited time - Baby Goats born mid-March will be here through June *** Originally part of Blake Farm, built in the 1930's. Blake Farm was subdivided into 5 acres farmettes in the 1990's. The original farmhouse is next door, now known as Agape Farms. The forest has reclaimed much of the original Blake Farm land. Visit over 4 acres of available land, from the pastures, to the wooded creek, or the very back edge of the farm abutting deep woods. Spend relaxing time petting the Nigerian Dwarf goats, Rhode Island Red chickens, and the super-friendly livestock guard dogs (Thomasina, Bucky, and Sarge). We are also located adjacent to Agape Farms, with its horses, ducks, and chickens. All this in horse country just minutes from I-95 and an hour from Washington, DC or Richmond, VA.

Off-grid Creekside Cabin

2 sites · Lodging21 acres · Bumpass, VA
Come unplug and unwind alongside a year round stream. Lounge in the hammock and read a good book, watch the abundant wildlife or build a fire and cook out under the stars. Fall asleep to the sound of the babbling creek, just perfect for relaxing and getting some quality sleep. In the morning, have your coffee on the sun dappled porch. Hike the trails, visit the farm animals and explore the surrounding countryside. Winter campers! The cabin is heated with a woodstove and is toasty warm on chilly nights with a fire going. The cabin was the first dwelling built on our farm and is only 40 minutes from Richmond, ideal for a quick getaway. We have friendly goats, cows and chickens on our 21 acre family homestead. Tucked into the woods, the farm is peaceful and private. There are walking paths through the woods and a creek to explore. You are welcome to visit the animals. The farm is about halfway between Richmond and Charlottesville. We are about 15 miles from the James River at Maidens. There is a super hip farmstand (like a mini Whole Foods) and an old fashioned country store 2 miles up the road and a good Mexican place about 15 minutes away. To the east is Montpelier and to the west is Louisa, both have all the modern stores and conveniences along with some country charm. You will park near the trailhead and it is a 2 minute walk down a wooded trail. The cabin is one room with a loft. There is a queen size memory foam bed in the loft (up a ladder) and a small wood stove with a cooktop for chilly nights that will keep you toasty warm. Welcome!

The Stables North of Richmond

1 site · Lodging30 acres · Chamberlayne, VA
Welcome to our farm! The cabin is located on our working family farm (horse boarding) only 6 miles from the heart of Richmond. When you stay here, you will enjoy the slower pace of life while still being able to get to restaurants and shops in Richmond within 10 minutes. Our 30 acre farm houses horses who are turned out daily in fields around the cabin, cows who meander around, a flock of sheep, and chickens who roam freely around the farm. Our family manages and maintains the property and we are looking forward to sharing our hidden gem! The cabin is a small quaint space that has been carefully thought out. It is only a little bit bigger than a tiny house, with approximately 400 square feet downstairs and an additional 200 square feet in the lofts. The lofts are only tall enough to sit in. The main floor has a living room with electric fireplace, TV (antenna), games, and pullout sofa, which is open to the kitchen. In the kitchen you will find a full size gas stove, fridge, microwave, and single serve coffee maker. There is a small kitchen table and access out to the deck. There is a bathroom with toilet and shower downstairs. The main bedroom with a queen bed is very cute and comfortable, with only the essential space. There are two loft areas upstairs, one with a full size bed and the other with toys for kids to play with. Guests have full use of the 4 acre field the cabin is in. Horses, cows, sheep, and chickens will come and visit the fence lines. No parties are allowed at the farm.
