Primitive, open, country road camping. (Primitive means there is nothing at the campsites except a space to camp. Open means you can camp anywhere on the land that is available. Country road means you might hear cars or trucks go by, but it is not a heavily traveled road.) Nestled between small mountain ranges, on a south-facing slope. Adjacent to mountain stream. Fishing pond. Wooded and open sites available. Rough gravel road loops around camping areas. Generally a high-clearance vehicle is recommended, unless you feel adventurous. Some campers have noted dogs barking at night. The campsites are roughly mown a few times per year--not like your lawn. Prior camping experience recommended. We are close to a Volunteer Fire Department--if there is an emergency (rare), you may hear sirens. Bathroom with hot showers and flush toilet.

Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. It is just 26 miles from the Bristol Raceway and the Bristol Caverns. It is just a 15 minute drive to Backbone rock and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail. The property was a Dairy Farm and went out of business in the late 90’s and since then there has been over 3,000 trees planted. Some of these trees include the rare Butternut and Hazelnut, but mostly White Pine, Walnut and Oaks. The property has approximately 1,000 feet of fishing on Beaver dam creek, so we recommend bringing waders. There is also a shower house, washer and dryer.

Fauna Forest Farm is 33 acres of open fields, hardwood and pine forests, a spring and creek, and beautiful mountain views. The vision of the farm is to be a place of sanctuary for both people and the life of the land - the plants, animals, insects, and fungi that inhabit it. Core to that is the educational programs, workshops, and therapeutic experiences we host, as well as regenerative agriculture principles we practice. The farm is also a place where community is fed through sharing in the harvest of organically grown eggs, veggies, foraged foods, and eventually, meats, dairy, nuts, and fruits. The farm is currently home to chickens and two horses. In the past, the farm nurtured Dexter cows (a small breed from Ireland), as well as much wildlife. We have only been on the land since 2022, and are still expanding our farm offerings, but we have big dreams for the farm and are grateful to open this place of sanctuary to others who share a love of the natural world.

Our scenic campground sits in a wooded area overlooking a meadow that slopes down to a small, year-round creek. Enjoy sunrise and sunset views for much of the year, along with frequent sightings of deer, turkeys, Canadian geese, and mallard ducks—despite being just minutes from the city. The campground borders an active railroad line. While trains pass only 1–2 times a day, they have no reason to sound their horns. Please do not approach the tracks as there are no fences, and trespassing is strictly prohibited. Each site includes a 12' x 12' raised tent deck with 1/4" board gaps for securing stakes. Parking for one vehicle is available at each site, with overflow parking just a few hundred feet away. A large fire ring with stump seating is provided at each site. Amenities include a portable toilet, a central water hydrant, safety lighting, and clearly marked parking and campsite areas to help with nighttime navigation. In May and June, fireflies light up the trees and meadow. On clear nights, the train embankment blocks city lights, revealing a brilliant night sky. A historic cemetery dating to before the American Revolution is also located on the property. We are in Tennessee, and poison ivy is present—please learn to identify and avoid it. Our family is allergic and actively working to remove it from the grounds. Dining and shopping are just a 10-minute walk away, with nearby options including Kickback Jacks, Aubrey’s, Maple Street Biscuit Company, Rendezvous Cafe, Buffalo Wild Wings, Ming’s Asian Cuisine, Wahaca Mexican Kitchen, Sully’s Steamers, and Rio De Brazil. You’ll also find camping gear and sporting goods at Academy Sports + Outdoors. Outdoor enthusiasts will find hiking, mountain biking, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and parks all within a 15–45 minute drive.

This camping experience takes place on a 200+ year old farm. We currently offer multiple camping options, most of which are only accessible by either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles.  The first location (along the main road) is solely for RVs or travel trailers (TT). The other camping locations are for tent camping, and much smaller/narrower and rugged RV/TT with a 4-wheel drive towing vehicle. Daniel and Cherith Kennedy purchased this 164-acre farm in 2014, and Daniel's parents, Brent Rita Kennedy, purchased the 1800's era farmhouse from Daniel and Cherith a couple years later. Together, we have transformed this farm back into a working farm with hay fields, cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and any other critters we buy or rescue. We are currently rehabilitating the 1700's era one room schoolhouse at the front corner of our land as well. This farm is full of memories, hard work, and is absolutely stunning. Your hosts on-site are Brent and Rita Kennedy, and they are famous for spoiling our guests rotten. They can give you tours of the farm, some in-season eggs and veggies as they have available, and even throw in some petting opportunities. They love having visitors and are sure to make your trip memorable. If you're interested in using our farm as a launching camp to see all the wonderful places that SW Virginia has to offer, we are very well located to many sites within an hour drive. - Pinnacle Area Reserve (https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/natural-heritage/natural-area-preserves/pinnacle) - Barren Fall/Tank Hollow Falls of Cleveland(https://www.virginia.org/listing/tank-hollow-falls-of-cleveland/7223/) - The Channels (https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/natural-heritage/natural-area-preserves/thechannels) - Virginia Creeper Trail (https://www.vacreepertrail.org/) - Explore Damascus (https://www.damascus.org/) - Explore St. Paul (https://www.stpaulva.org/community/page/playing-st-paul) and stop by our favorite, Mamaw's Cafe. Open the gate and CLOSE IT behind you, please :) -Follow driveway up to the top of the hill. Please do not allow any pets out of your vehicle down at our farmyard. Be careful as you pass through this area as we do have children and livestock possibly crossing the road. -Park wherever you feel your vehicle can best manage the sloped driveway. -Open the dome's zipper door and let it air out. Follow the guest folder's instructions for further climate control needs. There will be most of the information you need in the guest folder, as well as in pamphlets and notes around the site. You can also contact us at any time, but the WIFI is sometimes spotty, so it may be necessary to come knock on our door for additional inquiries. (Don't be shy! While we will not invade your privacy, we always enjoy meeting our guests, and will gladly help any way we can). Thank you for checking us out, and we hope to have the joy of being your hosts soon!

Learn more about this land: This property has been in my family since the early fifties, it was a working farm with milk cows, horse-drawn plows, many gardens, apple orchard and my dad's prize strawberry patch. You can camp in the old tobacco bed, a few of the antiques and artifacts are on display for you to reminisce over or teach your children about. Enjoy nature, hug a tree, walk, hike, read a book by the spring fed pond, cool your feet in the creek. We are in a wooded area and a great place to Hammock Camp. This property offers privacy with secluded areas for you to explore. Fire wood, burn pit, charcoal grills and tables at each site, fresh spigot water can be carried and port-a-potty available. Venture out to close by attractions, Bristol Motor Speedway, we are only 1.5 miles from historic Rocky Mount Museum, 35 min to VA, 40 to NC and 96 miles to Dollywood & Gatlinburg, this is just a few things in our area.

Let her know we sent you!!! - Explore Abingdon (https://visitabingdonvirginia.com/). - Scenic Driving...seriously, this region has some amazing scenic roads that are off the beaten path and will WOW you. Ask our hosts for their suggestions and they'll point you in the right directions after gauging your interests.

Nestled at the base of Iron Mountain Ridge, our 4.27-acre camp backs up to the Cherokee National Forest—secluded, private, and quiet, yet still close to town. We offer a pull-through gravel driveway with a 40' x 24' covered awning that’s 14 feet high and set on a concrete pad. Sewer, water, and power hookups are ready for your use. Hook ups are located on the forest side of the awning. The RV awning is situated between the national forest and our unoccupied barndominium (which we visit occasionally). Please note that outdoor security cameras and lights are present. This property is a wildlife paradise, with frequent sightings of bear, cougar, deer, and many other woodland creatures. At the lowest side of the property, you can hear the steady flow of pristine, cold Berry Branch water. Sit back, relax, and listen to the creek while enjoying the wildlife—all while having convenient access to the tri-state area. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re only minutes from the Doe Mountain Recreation Area, which offers 8,600 acres of rugged mountain wilderness with trails for mountain biking, ATV riding, and dirt biking. Take a short drive to Watauga Lake and enjoy the stunning views where the mountains meet the water. You can fish, swim, or enjoy a variety of water sports. Just down the road, Damascus, Virginia—home to the annual Trail Days Festival—is known as “Trail Town USA” for the convergence of four scenic trails, including the Appalachian Trail, U.S. Bicycle Route 76, Iron Mountain Trail, and Virginia Creeper Trail. You’re also a short drive from Blowing Rock, North Carolina, which offers an array of family-friendly and cultural attractions, including Tweetsie Railroad, The Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, wineries, performing arts venues, and local festivals. Nearby Banner Elk, North Carolina features High Country adventures such as skiing, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and fishing. And of course, don’t forget Boone, North Carolina, known for its vibrant college-town atmosphere, great shopping, and diverse dining options.
