Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. Camp Grassland: Two of our prepped campsites are on a flattened area of the hillside field with access to a fire pit, log bench, and porta-potty. This location is in direct sun with beautiful views and easy access from the road. Parking at the top of the field is recommended unless you have a 4WD vehicle. Cabin Breazy: Situated at one of the highest points on the property, Cabin Breazy is our cozy, off-grid, dry A-frame cabin surrounded by mountain views. Farmhouse Holler: 2nd Campsite is located next to our old farmhouse on a lower section of the property. Its near the natural spring and is shaded. There are no convenient bathroom facilities at this location so it is recommended to bring your own. Reaching the porta-potty would require an extensive uphill hike or driving around to the other entrance. To reach this campsite, the driveway could be considered rough terrain so drive slowly. Lowered vehicles or those with little ground clearance are not recommended. Each campsite has a max occupancy of 2 people. If you need space for more campers, please reach out to us about how many are in your party. We can host groups with advanced notification. Overlanding vehicles are welcome. Attractions: If you are looking for birds-eye view of the area, visit the Mendota Fire Tower only 3.2 mile away. You can see it from the farm and see the farm from it. It's about a 15 minute hike from the road. You can choose the mildly challenging way up or take the old roadway for a smoother walk. Clinch River is only 20 minutes away. Our scenic campground sits in a wooded area overlooking a meadow that slopes down to a small, year-round creek. Our family is allergic and actively working to remove it from the grounds. Area Attractions: -Campsite is less than one mile away from the Appalachian Trail and the Virginia Creeper Trail which the area is known for. -Rent bikes in Damascus and take a shuttle to the top of the Virginia Creeper trail and enjoy the 13 mile gradual descent down a converted railroad line through some of the most beautiful scenery Southwest VA has to offer. -40 minutes from Grayson Highland State park (hike among wild ponies) -40 minute drive to the summit of Whitetop Mountain (2nd highest peak in VA) Amazing Views! About the sites: There is a large parking area right off main road for easy access. Those with vans and RVs can set up right on the gravel parking area (also an option to tent camp right beside the parking area and enjoy the open sky and long range views. Campers who are willing to walk up a somewhat steep him can tent camp in the beautiful hilltop tent camping site which is located in a grove of pine trees. This is a new Hip Camp listing and sites are privative for now. Enjoy unplugging as you camp because there is No Cell Phone reception here. There is WIFI at the neighborhood restaurant, Hellbender's Café just 4 minutes away (typically open from 11-5pm) during the warmer months. While there is no electricity (or hookups for RVs), there are very few street lights in the area which makes for amazing stargazing. The only source of water is from a temperate stream that runs along the back side of the property for those campers who are comfortable boiling or treating their water. The property is 5.3 acres total, part of it is open former pasture land and over 1/2 of the property is forest. There is a wooden hill top area that is great for tent campers. The back side of the property is steep in some places, but it can be fun for those who want to hike and explore the mountainside.

Great spot easy to get to off the highway but quiet once you get there. Artsy outbuildings, goats, buffalo and peacocks on the property which was super cool. Beautiful views of the mountains and nice secluded spots to camp, flush toilets and running water just a little walk away. . A+, would visit again!!

Pat's place was comfortable, had clean amenities, and cute farm animals! We camped at site 6 which was fairly private, you could hear cars on the road by the property but nothing too disruptive.

Nearby private hike to Pinnacle Rock is amazing.

The site is as described. True primitive campsite with the ability to camp wherever your feet or vehicle can make it. I stayed at the furthest point past the pond. Parked right next to a babbling brook and took in the peace. He has scrap wood (dry) for fires, a workshop bathroom w/hot water. David was a fantastic host and appreciate him giving us the opportunity to stay on his land.

This is a great spot if you are in the area for the Creeper Trail or outdoor activities. Easy to get to, host instructions are very clear, and relatively flat. The parking and camping area is on a small ridge above a home below with no direct line of sight. The fire pit, chairs, and picnic table are a real plus. The main road is visible but very few cars and generally it is quiet with lots of open sky views. Feels remote and private, but not far from town.

Cameron's land was great! For primitive camping it has great amenities like a picnic table and a clean porta potty. We also loved being by the river as well as the view of the mountains. Keep in mind that the property is surrounded on all sides by roads so taking a shower may need a curtain or something. Also there is some kinds of dog kennel or something up the mountain nearby so you hear a lot of dogs barking on and off. Overall we would def stay again because of its close proximity to Damascus and the fact you get the property to your self makes it an amazing find!

It has taken a while to finally camp at Nathan’s Mountain view camp spot( no 1) and we were so happy to be there. A full moon, falling leaves, total peace and quiet, it was perfect. Drinking our morning coffee watching a hawk flying across the grass right in-front of us. The camping area is as clean as a whistle . We have a 20ft ford e350 campervan conversion and we managed the track up to the site easily to site 1, probably wouldn’t have managed it to 2. Thank you .

Beautiful campsite, stayed on a rainy day this time, but will be back next time I'm in the area!

As others mentioned, the road up to the site is steep, but my rear wheel drive camper van had no trouble with it. Once at the site I met Nathan and Anna who were just finishing cutting the grass around the site. The site sits on a little knoll with enough flat space for several tents or campers. The site was clean, pleasant, and quiet. And dark. At night we had great views of the milky way and satellites, serenades by the night insects. I recommend this spot. And, if your purpose in staying here is to visit the Channels, it is only a mile up the road.
