Our scenic campground sits in a wooded area overlooking a meadow that slopes down to a small, year-round creek. Enjoy sunrise and sunset views for much of the year, along with frequent sightings of deer, turkeys, Canadian geese, and mallard ducks—despite being just minutes from the city. The campground borders an active railroad line. While trains pass only 1–2 times a day, they have no reason to sound their horns. Please do not approach the tracks as there are no fences, and trespassing is strictly prohibited. Each site includes a 12' x 12' raised tent deck with 1/4" board gaps for securing stakes. Parking for one vehicle is available at each site, with overflow parking just a few hundred feet away. A large fire ring with stump seating is provided at each site. Amenities include a portable toilet, a central water hydrant, safety lighting, and clearly marked parking and campsite areas to help with nighttime navigation. In May and June, fireflies light up the trees and meadow. On clear nights, the train embankment blocks city lights, revealing a brilliant night sky. A historic cemetery dating to before the American Revolution is also located on the property. We are in Tennessee, and poison ivy is present—please learn to identify and avoid it. Our family is allergic and actively working to remove it from the grounds. Dining and shopping are just a 10-minute walk away, with nearby options including Kickback Jacks, Aubrey’s, Maple Street Biscuit Company, Rendezvous Cafe, Buffalo Wild Wings, Ming’s Asian Cuisine, Wahaca Mexican Kitchen, Sully’s Steamers, and Rio De Brazil. You’ll also find camping gear and sporting goods at Academy Sports + Outdoors. Outdoor enthusiasts will find hiking, mountain biking, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and parks all within a 15–45 minute drive.

Site 2 is located about 40' adjacent to the railroad tracks and you will feel the rumble of any passing train 1-2 times per 24 hour period. Even so, it has a pleasant view of the meadow below while being completely within the shade of the forest. Like all of our sites, it features a 12' x 12' deck built just a couple of inches above the ground to help keep your tent dry, but with 1/4" gaps between the boards to accommodate any tent stakes you may need to drive into the ground. There's also a 30" fire ring and four large tree stumps cut flat for sitting on or putting your feet up after a long day relaxing around the fire. Parking is marked and we ask that you park your vehicle between the two lighted posts, but be sure to pull off to the side of the narrow road in order to allow other guests to pass by. The parking spot is large enough to accommodate a camper van, but not an RV. There are no hookups at our tent sites.

Site 3 is located in the middle of our forest and sits beneath a high canopy of leaves with dappled sunlight throughout. In addition to the tent platform, there are several flat spots where up to 2 additional tents may be pitched. Like all of our sites, it features a 12' x 12' deck built just a couple of inches above the ground to help keep your tent dry, but with 1/4" gaps between the boards to accommodate any tent stakes you may need to drive into the ground. There's also a 30" fire ring and four large tree stumps cut flat for sitting on or putting your feet up after a long day relaxing around the fire. Parking is marked and we ask that you park your vehicle between the two lighted posts rather than parking on the narrow road in order to allow other guests to pass by. The parking spot is large enough to accommodate a camper van, but not an RV. You can also park a pop-up trailer at the site and leave your car a short 150' away in our overflow parking. There are no hookups at our tent sites.

Site 1 is situated at the edge of the woods overlooking the meadow below. It's the most open site and gets a good bit of sunshine during the middle of the day, but is shaded in morning and afternoon. Like all of our sites, it features a 12' x 12' deck built just a couple of inches above the ground to help keep your tent dry, but with 1/4" gaps between the boards to accommodate any tent stakes you may need to drive into the ground. There's also a 30" fire ring and four large tree stumps cut flat for sitting on or putting your feet up after a long day relaxing around the fire. Parking is marked and we ask that you park your vehicle between the two lighted posts rather than parking on the narrow road in order to allow other guests to pass by. Very nice campground! I love how many big trees there where and how you the sites where well maked with the platforms but also surrounded by the trees. I hammock camped and it was very peaceful with a good amount of options for trees to hang from. I will definitely be back if I'm traveling through the area.

Pro's: * Camping area is EXCELLENT, well takin care of! * The sound of birds and squirrels! At night we could hear an OWL * My grandkids first experience camping and they loved it! * My dogs first camping experience and they loved it! * Port A John is very clean * Potable water is very helpful * Stars are beautiful at Night * Great location for Super Moon. CONS: * Camping sites are closer than expected but we had the whole area * There is a one way tunnel under the rail road tracks off the property. Traffic keeps honking their horn for safety. The host can not help this! * Close to State of Franklin RD.. Occasional First Responder Sirens! Overall I would rate a B and will probably use again.

We loved camping at Sarah and Cody’s place! The directions were clear and the spot was perfect. They have a porta potty, which was super clean, and drinking water. Sarah and Cody were super nice and stopped by to give us some info and see if we needed anything/how any questions.

Private tent sites yet conveniently located nearby food and other services. Sites are near the tracks however saw or heard a train during our weekend stay. Sites are clean, easy to locate with adequate space for privacy. Saw deer in camp site early morning.

Feeling of camping out of nowhere

Cody & Sarah were quickly Responsive to messages and helpful. The camp was very unique and was located close to Johnson City, with a campsite surrounded by beautiful, tall Trees, which also made it feel private. Having a Railroad track close by the campsite was awesome, as I could see the train going by, and it wasn't loud. I've only seen the train once, as I stay. As a senior Softball player, I camp there, just being 12 minutes away from the James K. Ellis Athletic Complex. I highly recommend it for those who want to explore the Johnson City area and its surroundings; it's also excellent for tournament ball players who enjoy camping. It was quiet and private. Also, you can learn a little bit of History with the cemetery down the Hill. I will camp there again if I am playing in a softball tournament.

This is the second time I have used their site for events at Bristol Motor Speedway. Very friendly and super easy and convenient set up. This is my go to spot what coming to Bristol.

• The property is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! • The deck and fire pit set up were perfect! • Porta potty, water station, trash can are all available and very convenient! • The cemetery was so beautifully preserved and was definitely a highlight for me as a history buff! • The trains only passed by twice during the day and are a cool sight! • We will definitely be back for yearly visits! This camp was perfect. Easy to find, level parking spots, easy water and bathroom access. It was shaded with beautiful tall trees which also helped to keep the rain at bay. It also had a nice overlook of the meadow below. The hosts were quick to communicate, although everything was self explanatory so it wasn’t necessary.
