Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. The Corn Crib was transformed into its current tiny-home design in 2017, with additional improvements continuing through 2025. The structure was part of an old farm that included several buildings, including a Victorian home that once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel in the 1800s. The property sits along the banks of Wolf Creek, and we own most of the land surrounding it. There are long stretches of creek, pasture, and woodland to explore. This listing features a rustic, historic corn crib from the late 1800s that has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities, though it remains a quirky and compact space. Please note that the A/C unit and heat pump are portable and located next to the loft bed. Guests sleeping in the loft must climb narrow stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns. The water comes from a well, and we do not recommend drinking it. Cozy Bear sits right by the large noisy, trout stocked creek, with a private hot tub between the creek and the cabin, and less than five miles from Hillsville, which has a grocery store, local shops, a gym, dining, and nearby hiking. There is a shared bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower, shared with tent guests occasionally. Inside Cozy Bear, there is a queen mattress up in the loft, and a sleeper sofa downstairs. The kitchen has a sink, coffee maker and on the deck is a blackstone griddle, a propane firepit and a wood burning firepit is by the creek. Cozy Bear has a composting toilet and a shower in the bathroom, an ac window unit and a beautiful propane fireplace. If the temps get extreme outside, the waterlines do freeze. Cozy Bear is solar power/ and grid and is a six mile drive to I-77 and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item. The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV. The sweet, little cabin was just right for two. The decor (little touches), kitchen, grilling supplies, comfortable bed and pillows, reliable internet, and a/c were enhanced by the peaceful outdoors, star gazing and the Clean, *Nice smelling potty house. We did not have time to walk the trails, but the thought was inviting. Susannah was prompt in responses, willing to help if needed, and friendly. For our in route trip, this was an ideal place to stay.

Creekside campground is an absolute gem! We started our stay tent camping right by the beautiful, rushing creek, which provided the most relaxing background noise at night. Halfway through our trip, we moved into one of their small, off-grid cabins, and it was the perfect cozy upgrade while still keeping that authentic nature connection. Each site comes with a great fire pit for evening campfires. Our camp host, JoDee, was extremely helpful and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The entire property is peaceful, and the clean bathrooms were a major plus. Our dogs were also in absolute heaven here. The property features massive, wide-open areas where they could run, play, and burn off energy safely. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time staying here for the weekend!! It had everything we needed and felt incredibly private while also not completely isolated. The host is very responsive to any questions and the location is great. We loved being able to use both a propane stove and fire, had portable chargers, comfortable sleeping arrangements and overall great!

2 nights at The Cozy Bear on the creek/ hot tub

It was super cozy. Coffee selection was superb, and the hot tub was out of this world!!!

4 nights at W.T. Farm?

I'm so glad we stayed here. This was such an incredible place it really feels like a hidden treasure. Incredible views EVERYWHERE. We came here specifically for the stars and milky way, which were amazing, but the fall colors really stole the show. This was the most wildflowers I've ever seen! Goldenrod in every direction. We were also completely alone here and there's plenty to explore. This is our new favorite place!
