Ryant has set up a really nice place to camp! It is quiet and beautiful. And the wide open sky, with virtually no light pollution provides an amazing view of the stars!! The first night we were there, it was crystal clear and we could see stars that we had never seen before. The second night, there was a bit of haze and it made a really awesome halo around the Moon! If you're into history, he has done research, and continues to do so, and has great stories about the history of the property and what he is in the process of uncovering. I would highly recommend that you check it out. He's a great guy and can relate to your needs, as he loves to camp as well. I was very impressed by the investment he has made in equipment to help out campers who might not be as prepared as they should be. It's only going to get better, as he has big plans for improving, even beyond the excellent property that it already is. You won't be disappointed. Rightly so, he expects respect of the property and other campers, but isn't that the type of place you want to go? It is definitely one of the things that are high on my list. We'll definitely be back!

My friend and I had an amazing time camping on Ryant’s property! The site was very spacious and Ryant offered many supplies to us for us such as firewood, lounge chairs, and tiki lamps. He was very friendly and welcoming when we first arrived as he showed us around the site and told us the story behind his property. The highlight of the trip was Ryant’s “glamper” tent which he offered us when we arrived. It’s an elevated platform with a tent and storage unit on top. It made our stay all the more comfortable and easy! I would 10/10 recommend this property to anyone wanting to camp for cheap and receive great care and service from Ryant.

Really beautiful spot off the beaten path with great views of the mountains. Nice level spot for the rig and the electric and water hookups worked great. Sam was also really responsive and a great host. Will be back!

I cannot recommend camping at Darby Farm enough. Robin and family were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I had a wonderful stay. I loved being right in the middle of all of the animals. Speaking of which, I also highly recommend the farm tour add-on, as well as any of the meal add-ons. Robin’s daughter gave me the most wonderful, hands-on tour of the farm and meet-and-greet with the horses, goats, cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and turkeys. And the farm-to-table dinner Robin prepared was absolutely delicious and so elegant. I can’t wait to go back to Charlottesville and stay here again!

Looking for a place to stay last minute while traveling. Was able to book the same day., I really wish I would’ve stayed longer because it was really nice spot. I pulled in at night. I parked in the middle of the field. I woke up to breathtaking views in total peace and quiet. It would be a good spot to set up a campsite because it’s so convenient nice and flat, quiet and secluded with great views.

I only stayed for the night and early morning, so I can’t speak to the full experience, but the property is beautiful and accommodations were great. The serenity and breathtaking sunrise is well worth the price of admission.

Robin is a super gracious and welcoming host. Her home and sites are located in a beautiful part of Virginia. We arrived early and had choice of the sites. We chose the most remote and private site of the three that were available. We had a small corner of the farm back by the chickens, horses and goats. The sites are not that far apart and on the small size, but they still felt adequately private. It’s just right for a short stay. There are many wineries and tap rooms in the area, in addition to parks and hiking trails. The morning we left Robin came to say goodbye and treated us to some delicious pumpkin bread that her daughter makes and sells on her IG. Check them out at Derby Farms. Thank you, Robin. It was our pleasure.

Robin was a pleasure to do business with - friendly, helpful and available without being intrusive.
The site is located in a quiet, beautiful and spacious valley livened up just enough by the sounds of her geese, ducks, chickens and goats, with happily, no rooster.
I highly recommend it.

We absolutely loved this stay! The place is beautiful. The hosts were so welcoming and we enjoyed spending time with them. We did the dinner in their farm store and it was amazing and super special! Highly recommend! The view is so pretty and so awesome to see the animals

We hosted a 7-person retreat here and it was absolutely magical. The property feels like a sanctuary—hammocks by the waterfall, butterflies everywhere, and plenty of space to do powerful, grounding work in nature. A short hike up the falls is well worth it, and you can even catch glimpses of Crabtree Falls from part of the land.
It’s also easy to slip away to quiet spots along the Tye River for peaceful reflection. The lack of cell service turned out to be a gift, allowing everyone to be fully present and unplugged.
We can’t wait to come back and see how the space continues to grow after construction—it’s already such a special place. Highly recommend for anyone seeking rest, connection, or a nature-based retreat!

Diamond Heritage is my favorite Hipcamp thus far. Ryan’s has done a great job making the place natural, historic, and comfortable…. And he’s not done yet! He was extremely helpful to this camper in a tricky spot. He and his wife are very congenial and informative about the area. Absolutely loved it!!
