Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

Enjoy Vermont’s world-class skiing; Smuggler’s Notch (20 minutes), Jay Peak (30 minutes) and Stowe (40 minutes) are all nearby! The property is just a short ride to the Vermont Long Trail and the Lamoille County Rail trail. It is surrounded by opportunities for skiing, other winter activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, numerous watering holes, zip lining, leaf peeping in season, exploring Vermont’s many covered bridges, access to nearby VAST and VASA trails, and more! Unwind from your day of adventure by enjoying the wooded setting by making smores at the fire pit under the starry sky and relax surrounded by nature, while sipping your drink of choice; perhaps a beer from one of the many local breweries Please be aware that given our rural location, our cell phone coverage is weak. Illegal drug use is prohibited at all times. Currently, we cannot accommodate pets. Thank you for your understanding. Hosting parties or events is not permitted at any time. The property has hosted guests in seasonal cottages since the 1960s. The organically certified orchard was last operated around 2007. Since that time, a good portion of the apple trees has succumbed to disease and crowding by native and invasive species, though many continue to thrive and produce fruit—supporting a healthy and diverse wildlife population. Not far away are Middlebury (home of Middlebury College) and Vergennes—both offering shopping, dining, and Amtrak service. Our land steward, Melita, is a retired landscape gardener who enjoys ecological landscaping and trail-making. A short walking loop takes you from the cottages to our lake access and up around the far meadow, which is in the process of being reforested. Resting benches are placed seasonally at the lakeshore and along the far meadow path. Swimming is not recommended, but access for experienced kayak and canoe users is available. Our shale beach is a picturesque, relaxing, and history-rich spot to while away the hours in your camp chair. Birders will enjoy an abundant variety of shore and inland species. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

Jon was most accommodating and a wealth of local information. He loaned us an electric heater for our camper so we didn't have to use the noisy one installed. The driveway was a bit daunting for backing up but we did it without too much effort. There's a great hike with waterfalls on the property and a cute cafe close by with good food and live music. The bathrooms were the cleanest and nicest I have seen camping! We will definitely return!

The property here was amazing to be at. I was part of a 4.person group bikepacking through Vermont and came across this as an option for reprieve during a to be rainy night. The main lodge was very homey, communal, and clean. A huge kitchen and plenty of seating/hang out area for folks to catch up and chat. Honestly we would have loved to stay longer and get to know even more about the place as it seemed to have some good history and current operations to it.

Cabin was private, cozy, and had everything we needed! Scott & Rose made everything super easy and welcoming. A hot bath in the morning followed by canoeing on Tiny Pond, a drive out to Woodstock, and stargazing in the meadow at night was an unbeatable experience. We had a lovely camping trip! Couldn’t recommend more.

HOWL is at the bas of Camel's Hump! It's an easy drive to the trailhead and one heck of a hike up. Totally worth it! There are equally cozy or adventurous options all around HOWL.

Our second time here and once again we had the BEST time! It is so peaceful and quiet. The cabin is stocked with everything you need and way more. We loved the bathroom remodel. We went during a drought but was provided with plenty of water to use (we also brought our own for backup) we loved sitting in front of the fireplace at night reading and doing puzzles. We enjoyed nights around the campfire and cooking dinner. The bed is very comfortable and the brown couch is perfect for naps. Being October we didn’t sleep on the porch bed but I can imagine how nice it is in the summer. Porch swing view sunrise is beautiful. Love taking a walk down to tiny pond and enjoy the use of the kayaks. Can’t wait to come back next year and bring our kids to experience this beautiful place. Scott and Rose are so welcoming and there for anything if needed. Thank you for this amazing place!
