The campsite number that is booked is the campsite you will stay in. Additional details to note: - We now have an above ground pool to keep cool in during the summer! The morning sunrise over the eastern mesa brings its own spectacular views. Surrounding the 40 acres are many things of archaeological wonder. A Rock Hounds dream of minerals, stones and fossilized prehistoric microorganisms, as well as, the potential of finding the fossils of large prehistoric aquatic mammals. Yes, you are free to take a small sample of the thousands of quartz and calcite stones found in huge abundance. As you come to then end of Mailbox Rd., you'll see a residence to your left. I also recommend stopping at the Porters grocery store in Alping on your way in - they have a great beer selection. There is access to a full service bathroom with showers ($2 per person), a pool to cool down in ($8.50 per person), washer/dryer (coin operated) and a restaurant at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge. The American Legion Post across the highway is a great place to have a cold drink and chat with locals. You will have access to all 10 acres of the property. There is room for multiple tents if traveling with a group. The roads leading up to the property are dirt roads. To get to the property, an AWD or high clearance vehicle is not required although it is recommended if you plan on doing further exploring on the surrounding dirt roads. Monsoon season is during the summer - please be aware of the weather around your trip. In my experience, I've still been able to get to and from the property after a rain but it can make for harsh driving conditions. It is always a good idea to come with a tire plug kit and small portable air compressor. The property is secluded. It is part of Terlingua Ranch but there's a good chance you won't come across anyone on the roads while getting to and from, but always please be respectful to our neighbors. It can get windy - make sure you stake your tent and be aware of what you're leaving out overnight or when you leave the property. Dogs are allowed, but be aware of the harsh environment and do not leave your dog unattended. You can often hear coyotes at night and it is mountain lion country. We often bring our black lab Mack and he has a great time, just make sure you're bringing plenty of water for your pups and check paws for cactus needles. Do keep in mind that if you plan on visiting Big Bend National Park that dogs are not allowed on the trails. Please pick up after your dog, waste can be placed with the outhouse waste. We practice pack it in and pack it out and expect you to do the same. Take any and all trash back out with you and leave the property ready for its next guest. If the American Legion Post is open, you may be able to tip them extra and dump your trash there. You are also expected to dispose of your outhouse waste. We absolutely loved camping out on Jason's land! Conveniently located about 5 mins from Big Bend National Park with a nice little general store close by as well it really was the perfect location. We certainly enjoyed the use of a nice large firepit and the picnic tables. The outhouse was clean and convenient at the camp site and the showers a short distance away were a huge plus! We also highly appreciated Jason's helping us get one of our cars jumped the last morning. All in all would definitely stay again, and highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to visit Big Bend!

We had a fantastic time at the Casa! Everything was clean, check in was super easy. Make sure you plan some extra time to chat with Jim, great guy with some great stories! Will definitely be back

My group stayed at "El Groupo" site. It was PERFECT! When I was looking around for somewhere to stay while I was at Big bend, there was definitely no shortage of glamping locations. But this was the perfect secluded and nature immersed location that let you connect with the outdoors. While still having access to the basic necessities like showers and restrooms. (And a added bonus of a pool to chill after a warm day of hiking.) All while being just a minute or two drive from the Terlingua restaurants and bars if you feel like getting some great grilled food or a cold beer. Would most definitely stay here again!

The actual campsite was awesome, but the directions and information provided in an email from Lauren was very confusing and overly complicated. Recommend she streamline directions with single bullet points and put a few more signs along arduous route the Star Gazer camp site. Also, would be beneficial to inform campers who choose this site (especially those riding adventure motorcycles) that it would be highly beneficial to get your firewood before trekking to the camp site. Same with using the showers.....

5 nights at Starry Night Retreat

It was serene and far enough away from other people to really get to enjoy the solitude. My 2 pups and I spent 4 nights there to connect to nature and decompress from a stressful time in life. It was perfect for that! The dogs learned to quickly look before they step and the thorns in their feet were a minimum. I was surprised at the amount of traffic on Reimers Rd., and there was one neighbor kinda close in my opinion. Overall I had a wonderful time and was able to disconnect from technology! So amazing! I felt 100% safe.

We loved it out there, it was so peaceful and the sky was magnificent. We loved the seclusion and being in a primitive campground with a beautiful sun rise and sunset with mountains surrounding the area. About 20-30 miles from chisos mountain in big bend the drive is scenic

The best experience I ever had! Jim is very welcoming and friendly. The cabin he built is stuffed with love and intention. Everything is so thoughtful and well made. If you go there, you have to watch the night sky! It is beyond comprehension. Suited for 2, perfect for 4, maybe a little narrow for 6. Bring enough water and supplies. Thoughtful use of resources like water and electricity is mandatory.

We were grateful for the electric hookup in Elena's place after a few days in Big Bend! We did not get to meet Elena but her mom was very nice and helped us get situated. Simple setup and walking distance to restaurant. What else can you want!

We camped at Tierra del Sol for a few days while exploring the Big Bend area for the first time. Kyle is a terrific host and answered all of our questions. His property seems remote but is only a short drive off the highway. It is well marked but best accessed the first time during the day.
