This is a great property with a lot of potential for adventure. You can burn almost everything around responsibly. There is a lot of firewood. Right now there are no bathrooms or facilities of any kind except for a small goat shed. there is a ton of scrap metal and random random things in a pile great for digging and scrapping in all free. Finders keepers. There are some really old giant trees on the property. One is probably the largest tree I have ever seen in Collin County. There is a seasonal creek that runs through the back and sort of a swappy pond in the front. The Prairie in the front is some sort of different grass than usual. It might be native buffalo grass or something else weird like that. The property needs a lot of cleanup, so I would make a good to work campers or groups wanting a working party. The land could use some work, I could contribute a lot of free beer and food to people cleaning up the place before I build my house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tent camping experience on Site #1 on Cody and Ingrid's land. The site itself was incredibly spacious and felt private. We especially loved the nearby pond, which was the perfect starting point for a beautiful trail that loops right back to the campsite. Ladera RV Resort was a great place to stay. It's just far enough off the interstate to not be loud. The sites are large concrete pull thrus with full hookups. Each site has a large, level turf sitting area. Because we arrived late, we called the info number at the office and we're told what site we had. As soon as we pulled into the site, we were greeted by the on-site manager who gave us a list of all the local activities, restaurants, and laundry sites. There are several long term guests, but their area is along the outside perimeter and the Resort apparently requires they keep their sites spotless because the entire resort is extremely clean. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay and will certainly return.

Rick was such an amazing host, so welcoming, kind and full of great stories. The camping experience was so peaceful and we can’t wait to come back. We loved having the horses roaming around freely and greeting us throughout the day. One night wasn’t enough, we’ll be back for two! thank you for everything Rick!

1 night at Daffodil Hill Homestead

I very much enjoyed my stay here. Very private and the lake was so peaceful. It’s probably too small for motorboats (that’s a good thing in my book) but big enough for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. I loved hearing the chorus of frogs and the blips of light from the fireflies. It’s not the easiest to get to, but the directions provided by the host were excellent. They meet you at the gate and give you a tour of the facilities. You can text if you have any trouble or questions, but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy your stay. AT&T was one bar, but there is enough clearing for Starlink if you need that. I saw some of the comments saying you need 4wd to get there. You don’t unless it’s been raining. Just take it slow. I never once put it in 4wd. Higher clearance helps but not necessary. If you question this, just contact the host. I’m sure they will advise you on the best decision. Being August in East Texas, I thought I would be miserably hot, but it was about 10 degrees cooler there. The shade from the trees was quite adequate so no need for a canopy. I didn’t have a fire, but firewood is available for a fee. The picnic table is level which is good for cooking on a propane stove. The tent area has some pitch to it. I stay in my Jeep, so I just use rocks for leveling. I would definitely stay here again. I travel extensively staying mostly in primitive public lands. Texas has very few places like that, so I prefer to support local landowners over the commercial campgrounds.

This place is my kind of awesome. Good road access for me to go the places I needed around the area and the feeling of real privacy. Great place to take sunrise / sunset photos.
