Pat Mayse Lake access is less than a mile walk from camp, and Lamar Point is just over a mile away. Each have boat ramps. The lake is perfect for boating, fishing and swimming. Drive to Barber Hills and other recreation areas along the lake for even more hiking and biking trails, boating, and swimming areas.

Sunrise Pastures

New Look, we're clearing some land around our RV site, so our guest should have more space and clearance while maintaining a high degree of privacy.  Older pictures have more trees, newer pictures will show the working state of the Site.

Quiet semi-secluded RV parking on partially wooded spot on 24 acres that looks out onto 100+ acres of pastures across the street. Enjoy watching the cows when they are out or watch a sunrise on the horizon.  Electric, water, and sewage hook ups available. 

Located in a small, peaceful town with great fishing lakes close by along with restaurants and stores as close as 5 minutes away. 

We live in the property and are available to answer any questions or point you in the right direction to things in the area.

News Ranch

This is a quite spot in east texas. There’s woods on one side of us and a cattle/ quarter horse ranch on the other. We have calm red angus cattle on the property and their guard donkeys. If you’d like to feed them just let us know! You can fish near by at a public fishing spot. We will eventually be able to offer fishing on the property, we are working on stocking. If there ends up being an interest in hunting we can look into that. This is a primitive site so bring your gear! Mount Pleasant and New Boston are about 30 minutes away with restaurants and shopping.

Governor Hogg Park and RV Park

Discover the unique charm of Governor Jim Hogg City Park and RV Park, a stunning 27-acre urban oasis that pays tribute to James Stephen Hogg, Texas's first native-born governor who served from 1891 to 1895. This historical park, originally opened in 1941 as Quitman City Park by the Wood County Old Settlers Association, has evolved over the years. In 1946, the park was renamed The Governor Hogg Shrine State Historical Park after seventeen acres were donated to the state. Ima Hogg contributed an additional 4.74 acres in 1970, and further expansions brought the park to its current size. Sandy Ridge Camping

We're happy that we can open up our land for campers. Before booking please read the following information and site descriptions. You can enjoy wooded walking paths in the 90-acre forest and pastures, ponds and wildlife, including deer, wild hogs, hawks, owls, roadrunners, doves, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, and many other species of birds. Small mammals such as armadillos, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen, and the property is also awesome for stargazing. Please watch out for snakes, scorpions, pesky mosquitoes, chiggers and ticks. This land has been a huge blessing to us and we hope you will enjoy your stay here. Arrival time should be no later than 9pm. Please inquire before booking if your arrival time might be later. Welcome to Sandy Ridge Camping and Sandy Ridge Pecans!

Site #1: This is a big area and has room for several tents and vehicles. The ground can be a bit rough from chopped up bark and uneven ground. 

Outhouse is located near the farmhouse and in walking distance of camp sites; there is also a utility sink with non-potable water.

Sleep Under the Pecan Trees

Explore the 100 acre property that has 15 designated camp sights.... The closest two are about 100 yards apart.  All the sights are near trees. Some Giant evergreens but most are near one of the 200 year old Pecan trees.  Creeks meander through the woods and all meet on the South side of the property. 9 Horses, 20 donkeys and the friendliest mule ever! They Dot the property. Also deer, recoon, squirrel  and an occasional armadillo may visit.  A Great stocked pond and 3 other ponds make for beautiful fishing and photos etc.

Weekend retreat

Just 45 minutes from Dallas and  5 minutes from almost all of Greenville. Enjoy the quiet, peaceful and beautiful pond loaded with fish. Open ground with plenty of space to setup a tent and enjoy a fire in the fire pit. Bring your family and enjoy life in the country. Here is your chance to escape the hustle of city living 

Wayne’s Land

Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe.

There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. 

Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know?

Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids.

About the Bees

Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away.

The last half mile of road to our property is dirt. The road is bumpy in spots and gets muddy when it rains. ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4WD IS RECOMMENDED when there has been recent rains.

Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies.

Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users.

With remnants of a petrified forest, dinosaurs, Caddo Indians, pioneers, homesteaders, this land has seen it all.  Now it is a woodland ranch with an event venue, horses, farm animals, trails, fishing ponds and camping.  A true "Country Club" where you can escape your world and the stresses of technology in the style you wish.  We have an on site RV's, and event venue, with 3 private bathrooms with showers, a club bar, catering kitchen and so much more!  Perfect for the family that has a "glamper" and those who want to "rough it".  Big enough to handle family reunions, weddings and parties yet .. big enough to give you the privacy you seek! Close by are the towns of Mt pleasant, Daingerfield and Pittsburg.  All have downtown areas with boutiques, antique and second hand shops to visit.  There are several museums in the area including the Mid America Flight Museum - a private museum of over 60 vintage airplanes in flyable condition.  In pittsburg there is the Ezekial aircraft and local history museum.  also within 20 miles are major likes for water sports and sport fishing beyond our own famous "Catfish pond".

Walk the trails amongs the tall trees and 100' tall pines.

Each year our does give birth to singles and twins.  They are wild so you may or may not realize they are there.  We have several wildlife observation locations near feeders.

The Flying H Ranch is owned and operated by Harlan and Sharon Ray. They have owned the ranch since 1995 when “H” retired from the Air Force. The Rays operate the ranch not only to run cattle, hay and horses but it is also an event venue and vacation cabin rental. Nice quiet place in the country. Big shade tree. Right by one of the ponds. Hosts were super nice and hospitable.

My second time out to the location. Grass was a little longer this time but it didn't take away from my ability to setup camp, make a good meal, and relax enjoying the outdoors. Though every place in Texas has them, I didn't run into any ant hills where I setup.

Outstanding place to stay. Perfect for a fishing trip to Lake Fork. It was nice to have a shelter from the weather. 

The land is expansive, perfect for group camping with plenty of flat, open space. It can get windy, and the hum of the interstate is noticeable, but it never distracted from the peaceful outdoor experience or a restful night’s sleep. I look forward to returning, whether with others or for another solo getaway.

Great spot even if you’re traveling passing through  with horses or cattle.  10 minutes to grocery stores, restaurants and 25 minutes to Lake Tawakoni or Lake Ray Hubbard which offer restaurants with a dining patio lake view and other amenities of this beautiful lake, with a skyline view of Dallas and surrounding city's  events and attractions just 20 to 30 minutes away. 10 minutes to the famous Buc-ees And the drag strip for all you hot rod lovers is 5 mins away Poseidon Raceway park.

Land of Oz! Sidewalk around one pond with bate fishing and a nice dock to sit and enjoy the surrounding beauty of towering trees. A bit of heaven.  There are several camp sites and room for 5 RV parking  hook up water and electric only. Peace and quite with the beautiful trees and ponds

This was our favorite swing. It had bells that sound like a windchime, and it's next to a garden bed that will probably be really pretty during growing season!

You can pitch your tent anywhere you like, but this was our favorite spot. By the pond, surrounded by a creek, tucked into the trees. Felt very secluded, but was still pretty close to the amenities. 

My son enjoyed hunting for dandelions that had gone to seed.

This property was farmed by the Tawakoni Indians hundreds of years ago.We purchased this land as a place to retire,since we have always been entrepreneurs we decided to grow watermelons and this next year we are venturing to do also vegetables. We also donate many many pounds to homeless and orphanages.
