Texas Safari Camp

Welcome to Texas Safari Camp
Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world.  At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 900 exotic animals.  Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals.
Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts (with as many as 40 people) for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and creating new friendships and memories. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire.   
You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires.   
There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area.  The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. 
The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House overlooks the front pond and features a queen bed, a smaller bed in the loft, electricity, lights, a fan, screened operable windows and outdoor table and chairs on the elevated deck. There is no heat or air conditioning in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house.
There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink and faucet.

This is as good as it gets. People swimming, camping, playing, paddling and laughing. 

This isn't a get drunk and rowdy place. It's got a great vibe and attracts good people.

Lindale, Coyote Camping/Yurt/Tiny

I4 acres with spring-fed creek,  just a few minutes from Lindale restaurants and supplies.  For more info about the tiny house or yurt rentals, please inquire.   It has extended acreage with multiple ecosystems.  I just found a spring and will be doing livestock. There is yurt and tiny house for rent. There is an RV plug, electricity (extra fee), and a water hose.

The site is close to downtown Lindale (5 minutes)  restaurants and shopping.   15 minutes from tyler.   It is country living but still close to city action. 

The lower parts of the property require 4-wheel drive, but the top has water and electricity, so any car is fine. 

As this is an outdoor area, there are bugs and critters.  I have never had a problem, but this is notice that you agree to assume all liability and responsibility for your party by camping at this property.  NEW:  Starlink Satellite Internet!

Coppergate Ranch

From Caddo Indians, pioneers, homesteaders, this land has seen it all.  Now it is a ranch with an event venue, horses, farm animals, trails, fishing ponds and camping.  A true "Country Club" where you can escape your world and the stresses of technology in the style you wish.  We have two on site RV's, and event venue, with 3 private bathrooms with showers, a club bar, catering kitchen and so much more!  Perfect for the family that has a "glamper" and those who want to "rough it".  Big enough to handle family reunions, weddings and parties yet .. big enough to give you the privacy you seek!  Contact us for special events.  Close by are the towns of Mt pleasant, Daingerfield and Pittsburg.  All have downtown areas with boutiques, antique and second hand shops to visit.  There are several museums in the area including the Mid America Flight Museum - a private museum of 60 vintage airplanes in flyable condition.  In pittsburg there is the Ezekial aircraft and local history museum.  also within 20 miles are major likes for water sports and sport fishing beyond our own famous "Catfish pond".

Each year our does give birth to singles and twins.  They are wild so you may or may not realize they are there.  We have several wildlife observation locations near feeders.

Wayne’s Land

Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe.

There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. 

Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know?

Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids.

About the Bees

Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away.

Sleep Under the Pecan Trees

Explore the 100 acre property that has 15 designated camp sights.... The closest two are about 100 yards apart.  All the sights are near trees. Some Giant evergreens but most are near one of the 200 year old Pecan trees.  Creeks meander through the woods and all meet on the South side of the property. 9 Horses, 20 donkeys and the friendliest mule ever! They Dot the property. Also deer, recoon, squirrel  and an occasional armadillo may visit.  A Great stocked pond and 3 other ponds make for beautiful fishing and photos etc.

We have a peaceful walking path that meanders through the woods. Our campers love to take walks and just rest in the calm and peace among the rustling pines and native timbers.

A Little Piece of Paradise

A little piece of paradise, a rustic country place near the sky to breathe fresh air, hear the birds sing, fish if you like fishing, enough space to walk among the trees and enjoy nature, if you are lucky you will see the deer or wild pigs . 

The property has a house, a cabin and in the middle of the two there is a pool next to a small lake (if Reserve it 3 nights the pool be came exclusive), a barbecue gas grill and tables for a small pool party

The property is outside of the city limits but is close to the city, 15 minutes from walmart. If you have specific questions fill free to text. Wifi upon request.

We have deer during the season, wild hogs, a temporary river, creek, several ponds to fish, area to to ride ATVs, many trees, plus we are working in developing for more activities in the future

These campsites are in a peaceful clearing surrounded by forest with a wide open view of the sky. Expect to wake up to a beautiful sunrise and sound of many birds welcoming the day. Most nights we get to enjoy the sounds of several different types of owls. The property has over 1 full mile of nature trails to walk with several seasonal creeks. We also offer farm fresh eggs for sale when they’re available. 

We are only 10 minutes from Lake Bob Sandlin or 15 minutes from Lake Cypress Springs. The small surrounding towns have several local eateries, fast food, grocery, and fuel options to choose from.

Campsites are reachable by capable cars, trucks, SUVs, camper vans, and some vehicles towing small overland style trailers, teardrop, or pop up trailers. NOT accessible by Class B Plus or larger, Travel Trailers, or Fifth Wheels. Small Class B, Sprinter style, and similar should be ok. Please feel free to contact us if you wish to verify before booking.

Please be careful when visiting the property. We are very much in the woods and have all the wildlife that comes with it. This includes deer, raccoons, possums, armadillos, squirrels, hawks, owls, bobcats, coyotes, hogs, snakes, poison ivy, fire ants, ticks, mosquitoes, and more. 

Sandy Ridge Camping

We're happy that we can open up our land for campers. Before booking please read the following information and site descriptions. You can enjoy wooded walking paths in the 90-acre forest and pastures, ponds and wildlife, including deer, wild hogs, hawks, owls, roadrunners, doves, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, and many other species of birds. Small mammals such as armadillos, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen, and the property is also awesome for stargazing. Please watch out for snakes, scorpions, pesky mosquitoes, chiggers and ticks. This land has been a huge blessing to us and we hope you will enjoy your stay here. Arrival time should be no later than 9pm. Please inquire before booking if your arrival time might be later. Site #1: This is a big area and has room for several tents and vehicles. The ground can be a bit rough from chopped up bark and uneven ground. 

Outhouse is located near the farmhouse and in walking distance of camp sites; there is also a utility sink with non-potable water.

Savannah’s Events @ Flyin H

The Flying H Ranch is owned and operated by Harlan and Sharon Ray. They have owned the ranch since 1995 when “H” retired from the Air Force. The Rays operate the ranch not only to run cattle, hay and horses but it is also an event venue and vacation cabin rental. The Rays, along with their children and grandchildren are seventh generation farmers and ranchers and would LOVE to share their ranch with you.Learn more about this land:Open area on working ranch. Camp Coyote

Heavily wooded mature forest with scenic 2 acre deep lake for fishing, swimming and boating activities. Numerous wildlife from roadrunners to coyotes, wild pigs, deer, migrating birds like terns and ducks. Great bird watching ranging from large terns and turkey buzzards to dozens of 
smaller species. Many of natures four legged creatures make our forest their home.

Hi! We're Kaylee and Josh. Big Tex Campgrounds is a 30 acre campground located 10 minutes from Canton and 20 minutes from Tyler in the quirky and eclectic town of Ben Wheeler- We built our campground *with* the trees, not *through* the trees and love giving RV families a space to feel like they are truly camping in nature, but with the all the added comforts (plus a laundry facility) We are constantly building and adding on and growing our campground. In the near future, we will have primitive tent sites, Teepees and a 5 acre swimming pond with a beach. We'd love to have you witness our growth and be apart of the Journey! BlackBerryPines Disc & Camp

BlackBerry Pines Disc & Camp is 27 acres of Piney woods. The property has a 20 hole Disc Golf course carved out of the woods. Very challenging and technical with Long and Short Turf tee pads. All baskets are Innova Discatchers. Come out and camp and play disc golf all day. 

Property has lots of elevation that makes for great hikes. Couple miles down the road is Barefoot Bay Rv Resort & Marine. The town of Pittsburg is less than 10 miles away for all the normal items you may need (Grocery, Hardware store, CVS pharmacy, Brewery!!! 😉)

It's been a fairly wet summer, and there were hidden mushrooms! 

Find little places off the clearing to set up your tent or perhaps a yoga mat. This would definitely be my pick if our car would've made it up the road.

In addition to 42 acres to explore & your own private deck, relax on large Retreat Center Pool Deck - also perfect for group gatherings when using multiple cabins. Summer evenings can bring a bat show over the newly dug 2acre pond.

Camp Discovery is a 40 acre family-ran campground located about 70 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas. As you drive through the gates into our land you instantly feel transported to a place of peace. Our marked road leads you through juniper trees, wild deer (and sometimes boar), open land straight to your chic glamping tent. Take an easy hike through our land. On Golden Pond

It has a gated entrance on a pond with stairway to the pond. Outside sitting area with fire pit included. Has a Front Deck overlooking pond. 12 acres of trails available for hiking. Quiet secrete cabin to relax and fish for a relaxed getaway. It only has one bedroom and it’s small. Bunk beds are not stacked in front room.

These 47 acres of beautiful Green forest and meadow home many wildlife, including, deer, rabbits, squirrels, turtles, and more.  With 2 spring fed creeks running to the 6 acre Fishing Pond with 2 fishing piers, we catch, Crappie, Bass & Catfish. The wooded forest is a great place for a scenic adventure, weather it is on foot for a nice hike, on  horseback or mountain bike. With many interesting  wild things to see and listen for on a hike, including the many birds that flock the Big Oaks, that sprawl out over the sky. Watching the sun set across the meadow is all the medicine you will need to refresh you from a long work week. The pedal boat will give enjoyment for hours on the pond, while you fish, or just cruise around in the cool water. Or you may choose to take a little swim. Horses are available for trail riding, with pre-registration.If you are interested in bringing your own horses we do have a full arena, round pen, and stalls for boarding at the ranch.We do have chickens and goats for your petting zoo pleasure, and sometimes baby animals including puppies at the ranch seasonally.

There is no electricity, but some spots have decent cell service. You are welcome to charge your phone in our barn if necessary, and re-freeze ice packs in our freezer.

Interact with our friendly farm animals, including goats, chickens, horses, pigs, and ducks. Feed them, pet them, and experience the joys of rural living. Our wooded hiking trails, and fish-laden waters offer both the novice and experienced outdoors lover physical challenge as well as relaxation. Guests often see our free-range animals as they experience the homestead. Bird watching is also a favorite pastime. We have working farm dogs that run lose, they are very friendly, and love snuggles!

Jeremy grew up farming upstate NY.  He became a pilot and moved away.  Beckie grew up in Chicago.  She became a flight attendant and a fashion designer.  Beckie and Jeremy married and bought a ranch during the covid epidemic so Jeremy could continue to pursue his ranching dream while Beckie continued designing clothing, furniture, house rehab and home goods in the meantime.  Our homestead store on the property is a combination of Jeremy and Beckie's passion to create.  Our ranch tours offer a glimpse into a day in the life of ranching and Jeremy is very happy to share all the tricks he has learned over his lifetime with anyone curious about where, when, why and how of the food they consume.  Learn more about this land:Vrooman Ranch is a full working cattle ranch on 122 acres in Ladonia, Texas. Rands property is a beautiful tranquil treasure just outside of busy Dallas. If you dislike how close you are to other campers in state parks and are looking for an alternative, this is the place to go.   An additional bonus is Rand has a couple of kayaks and paddle boards you can use on the pond. This place is a treat and I highly recommend. 

Beautiful tranquil oasis

A group of us camped there for one night and we had the best of time. Rand is a gracious host providing clear instructions and directions. His property is beautiful and tranquil where you can hike and do water activities in the pond. We were there the day after Pink Full Moon and the sky was clear that was perfect for Star and moon gazing. We had two ladies who bought a new tent for this outing and they said they enjoyed every minute of it and look forward for another outing at the property.

It was a beautiful location with options for camping spots, including more or less seclusion depending on what you prefer. The provided paddle boards were also super nice! Randall was a great host — Meeting his dog, Teddy Bear, was an added bonus.

We were luckily the only ones camping this weekend so they allowed us to camp wherever.☺️ we ended up by the catfish pond and absolutely enjoyed it! Our dogs were having so much fun swimming & we paddled out on the water. Hiking the property was pretty fun too! Their dogs did show up to say hi & even followed us around some of the property :) luckily our dogs are friendly. We loved it :)

Beautiful water, tree house, & property!! We celebrated my husbands birthday with friends and my kiddos kayaked and paddle boarded for first time. Randol was so helpful and hospitable providing life jackets and a sleeping mat when my inflatable mattress deflated. Just kind hospitality. We made it through the rain camping in a tent and lightning & made the best of it! Was a lot of fun & beautiful peace filled getaway. You will hear many animal noises at night that was definitely an experience ☺️

We loved Rick’s place with the great fishing and friendly horses. It was a bit muddy with all the rain but we still had a great time and Rick was a great host. We will definitely be back.

I am not one with words, but if you read one review, read this one.  We arrived and Rick was full of stories and information about the property.  He took us to our site (4 wheel drive is a MUST!) which was amazing.  He allowed us to rearrange the picnic table and fire ring to our liking. The next morning Rick set our eggs out that we purchased through him at 6am. We went fishing and caught four 2-2.8 pounders.  It was amazing! That sunset I took the photography class presented by Rick.  It was wonderful.  Got a lot of information and he took me to some pretty spots I had not seen before. That evening it rained and stormed.  Our tent collapsed and our gear was soaked.   This was my first time camping, and because the amazing time Rick provided I am hooked!!!! 
The animals coming in to my camp was unforgettable and seeing my dogs swim in the ponds, those are memories I’ll never forget! Thank you Rick for having such a beautiful, well maintained and kept up property! Me and my family will be back!!!! 

First Time Camper Now Hooked

I have camped at Randal’s place many times but this was my first time sleeping in his treehouse. It looks very rustic and I loved the hummingbird stained glass window! The bed was comfortable and I slept well on it. It was a bit warm at night so I am glad to be able to use the electric outlet available to plug in my phone. A thunderstorm rolled in overnight but the treehouse was well insulated so no water got in. I definitely want to stay there again sometime! 

Texas Safari Camp was fantastic. We went as a group of 9 LGBT friends and we felt incredibly welcomed. Randall is a very kind and accommodating host who has been hosting campers on his property for decades. 

The property itself was lovely. There are two ponds on the property. We camped next to the back pond which was a bit of a hike with all of our gear, but the off-road carts provided make this much easier. We took advantage of the stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and swam in the main pond. It was a great time! The trails on the property are well maintained and nice to traverse. 

Would recommend this location and we will definitely be back again. 

Very nice property, great host

This is a beautiful campsite!  Campsite 1 has an amazing view of the large pond and is a huge site.  Ingrid was a lovely person who was very sweet and accommodating.  I highly recommend this campsite!

Great spot to park! We did rotate the car parallel with the picnic table to adjust for the slope.

We brought a cooking set up for over the fire. Perfect size!

It was a great spot to camp. Simple get away with lake front view. We kayaked and canoed with our dog. The campsite was clean and it was convenient to have the compost toilet. We were able to pull right up to the site with our SUV and roof top tent set up. It was fun star gazing and watching the bats hunt over the water. 

Simple & Sweet Stay-in Campsite

We spent two wonderful nights at one of the many well-maintained tent sites on Randall’s stunning and secluded property. Our chosen site came with a table, which was a thoughtful and convenient touch. The boys had an absolute blast kayaking and fishing in the larger pond, and their visit to the nearby Zoofari Park made the trip even more memorable. It was the perfect getaway from the city—peaceful, beautiful, and filled with adventure!

Excellent place to camp!

This camp ground is beautiful and peaceful. An abundance of dogwoods, pine, and other trees. Catfish pond was the first thing we saw when we got up in the morning. So calming watching the water and listening to the morning birds singing while we sipped our coffee. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful and always available. My family and I will be adding this wonderful site to our favorite campgrounds. 

This was a fantastic spot! Ingrid was friendly, and a superb host! A quiet spot that feels isolated and quiet! Site #2 was awesome!

Everything is in reach. Fire pits are available. This is a camping site where you get natures full experience. Must bring your own camping toilet. RVs campers are more than welcomed. The famous most catfish caught , Lake tawakoni is 800ft away. Lots of fun!! Please be responsible and be safe. Ask questions, l will be available to answer any questions 24/7 any day or time.
