It's quite small but does have a convenience store, with ice, drinks, food, and worms for fishing. There is also a small-town bar with music and food. Hubbard is a nice little town about 15 miles away. It features small cafes, antique shopping, gas and a Sonic. The town of West is much larger and about 30 miles away. West features Czech Bakeries, & old town square shopping. Don’t forget mosquito spray, bedding, and drinking water. There is plenty of dead wood for fire, but you may want something to cut it into smaller pieces. Please don’t go too big or crazy with fire. Conditions can be very dry. Keep the wood burning fireplace in the tent to small fires please. Lake Tawakoni State Park Known for featuring one of the largest spiderwebs ever recorded in the United States, Lake Tawakoni State Park is a popular destination for residents from Kaufman and other cities in the area. Covering a surface area of a little under 380 acres, this state park features a 38,000-acre reservoir where visitors can practice a vast array of water sports and recreational activities including boat and pier fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing. Lake Tawakoni State Park is located about 30 miles northeast of downtown Kaufman and can be reached in less than 40 minutes by car along routes US-80 and FM-2728. Visitors are required to pay a $5 daily usage fee, while those aged 12 or under can access free of charge.
