Sundancer On The Brazos sits on Comanche Creek in an isolated forest on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage! The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. Hunting for petrified wood is a fun adventure here. (But leave them for the next person to discover!) Weatherford is only 10 minutes away and Granbury is only 20 minutes away; both have great restaurants. And this close to Fort Worth (30min), you could actually commute and have a ranch to come home to at night--note the lower pricing mid week.

Very spacious spots. Very quiet and gated. Difficult to get ahold of anyone once your reservation is made, however. I finally got Megan at their property management office and she was very nice and helpful, but I never received lot information or a gate code before we arrived. She wasn’t even aware we had booked through HipCamp until I called them.

So cool, on the grounds of a plantation style house. Great use of space. Well maintained and organized. All amenities for us. We only stayed one night as we were driving through. Even though it was practically full it was so quiet and peaceful.

Weekend Trip to Fuller's Folly River Ranch

Everything was perfect! Clear directions, simple check-in, beautiful location, so many activities within walking distance. We stayed at the Magical Treehouse for the 4th of July and had a great time hiking, swimming at the river, and grilling on the covered patio.

Bunk bed area. Didn’t use but it was prepared if I needed it.

Weekend Trip to DJ Roundtree Ranch

I only stayed one night, but it was such a peaceful and relaxing experience! The owners are onsite, friendly, very helpful and responsive to any questions I had before and during my stay. The location was easy to find in the daylight (I arrived mid afternoon), and everything was just as described. GPS gets you to the right spot but note it will be very dark at night as there are no street lamps which makes for amazing night sky/star gazing. I had my Great Dane with me and the other dogs onsite came to meet him and they all got along well. I stayed in the smaller camper, and it was cozy, clean, and comfortable—the bed was great, and I slept really well. The A/C worked perfectly, which was a lifesaver in the Texas heat. There’s a small deck with an awning for shade, and a shared grill if you want to cook outside. I brought most of my own supplies, so I didn’t use the kitchen gear, but everything you’d need seemed to be there. Fridge and freezer worked well. The camper is located close to the horse barn, which was a bonus—I enjoyed walking around and even got to meet the horses. There are also shared bathroom facilities in the barn if you prefer a regular shower over the RV setup. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful getaway, especially if you love animals and want a quiet, rural escape. It’s a good location to explore Mineral Welsl, Granbury and Weatherford areas. I’d definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Lone Oak RV Ranch and Retreat

Lone Oak RV Retreat and Ranch is the cutest little community. Nestled in a serene setting, this hidden gem offers a peaceful escape for RVers and those who would prefer to stay in a guest house. One of the most endearing aspects of Lone Oak is its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The friendly staff and long-term RVers made it easy to feel right at home. For families with children, the on-site farm/petting zoo provides endless entertainment. There's also a pool for the warmer months. The Rodeo Cafe is open from 10 AM to 2 PM on Sundays and Mondays and offers a delicious lunch buffet. The 24-hour lounge is equipped with laundry machines, a TV, and a vending machine. The campground offers strong Wi-Fi and the well-maintained nature trails are great for peaceful walks. There are bonfire pits, basketball hoops, a beautiful old chapel, and tons of guest rooms available for affordable prices. Lots to see and explore on these 81 acres. Overall, Lone Oak RV Retreat and Ranch is a fantastic place to unwind and recharge outside the city. Its combination of friendly people, great amenities, and beautiful surroundings makes it a truly special destination. I hope more guests find out about it and it grows into its full potential!
