Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos. We are rustic but classy. Time to get away and relax! This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. The closest city is about a 20 minute drive to Somerville so make sure to have everything you need before camping. Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos. We are rustic but classy. Time to get away and relax! This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. My family and I had great time there. The property is beautiful. Site 22 is perfectly secluded from other sites. It's the closest to the restroom. Trees provide excellent shade and wind break. We loved exploring all the trails. The host family is amazing. We had a great time meeting the resident dogs. They are very gentle and passive. We're definitely going to return.

I stayed at site 10. Very secluded and surrounded by dense forest. You won’t see anyone until you leave the campsite. Julie gave me a map of the ranch when I checked in that has trail maps on it as well. The trails are marked with painted lids. They can be a bit confusing at times but I suspect that will improve with time. I did not use the amenities so I cannot comment on those. Outhouse is right next to the camping area entrance by site 15. From what I could tell the campsites had some wood already there and you are allowed to use any fallen limbs as firewood. Enjoy!

Place was very peaceful and secluded. The trails were beautiful and the pond was well stocked for good fishing (catch and release of course). 10/10 would highly recommend for those trying to get away from the hustle and bustle and see some stars.

We loved our stay at 5D ranch! Julie is laid back and helpful when you need her. The campsites are secluded and private. We were near the outhouse on this trip which was a unique experience. And the campsite dog, Abba, hung out with our group the entire weekend and ensured no wild animals approached our site. Wonderful time as always, and we will be back!

The land is absolutely beautiful! The campsites are huge & the port a potty was clean! It is close to the road & traffic was heard but it does get quieter later thru the night. I am already planning a second trip here. The town is close by & is small & cute with boutiques & antique shops. Highly recommend!

My seven year old made friends with the owners white dog and gave him a huge hug. We went canoeing on the lake but left early because of the rain. We did have a wonderful camp fire and made s'mores the first night. Before we left my little one said this was the best camping trip ever and the best day in his life. This is not our first camping trip, but this place is his favorite place to go camping.

My family and all the friends we have taken to 5D ranch over the years all love it there. Site 23 is perfectly secluded from other sites with a gentle slope throughout, but 2 large tents fit on a reasonably level area. Trees provide excellent shade and wind break. The host family is amazing. We had a great time meeting other campers, and of course the resident dogs - they are very gentle and passive.

Super cute little fishing cabin that was stocked with everything we needed for a small thanksgiving celebration with our adult kids and pets. We enjoyed fishing at the lake just around the corner. Our only drawback was the burn ban that prohibited s'mores over the fire pit each night, but we can only blame the Texas weather for that. We had a great stay and would come back again.
