Weekend Trip to 4R Ranch Winery Campsite

Walt is a super hero. Upon arriving to our campsite on a very rainy weekend, we proceeded to get stuck in the mud. Walt arrived the next morning at 6:30am and, after considerable effort, pulled us out with his tractor. He went above and beyond to take care of his guests. I highly recommend anything associated with the winery or Walt’s property. Thanks Walt!

Walt has a little hilly, scenic, perfect paradise in the middle of pasture land Texas USA. Absolutely would recommend! Don’t however expect comforts at your RV or campsites. You’ll have to get that at his beautiful winery’s tasting room on top of the hill.

Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek

Steve was great! It rained the day before we came and he took the time to let us know it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable with all the mud and accommodated us in the town near by until it dried overnight! He’s super friendly and we enjoyed our stay! The property is amazing is great for a get away!

Campsites are far enough away from other campers. I love the ability to go to the tasting room and have a snack or lunch. The place is quite and private.

3 nights at 3 Lazy G Ranch TX RV & Horse Farm

Both RV sites are excellent. The property is secluded, private and well cared for. The hosts, Shari and Walter, are awesome. The sites are easy to access with big rigs and offer full hookups plus WiFi. Everything worked perfectly and I had ZERO issues. If you are looking to stay in the Rhome or Decatur area, this is the absolute best place.

Lucky 13, my 1st camping trip was perfect! This is a smaller compact, spot, as described. The spots were nicely marked and the handbook provided all the necessary info! I camped prior to the trail race. The trail is in great shape and well marked, even without the race. This is a nice getaway. The hill to get down and up to the winery is a bit scary unless you are in AWD or a truck. Take it slow.

We just took a camping trip at the Oak View tent at The Park, bushy creek during our daughters spring break. Unfortunately it was super windy the entire time we were there, but we still had a blast. The tent is super well kept, decore is great and air mattresses were great. The location is perfect in that it is far enough to get a good drive going from Dallas, but still within 10 minutes of a store. We definitely plan on going back in the future!

The sites are large and well laid out with plenty of separation from neighboring sites. The hiking trail is easily accessible and is nice because it is one huge loop, so you can't really get lost. We loved site 14 and it has plenty of shade. Having access to free firewood on site was a huge plus on a couple of chilly nights/mornings.

Nice place. April was very accommodating. There was too much wind to say in the Teepee. We camped in tents. There was too much wind to use the water, we flew kites. We had a great time, but we were very flexible. Keep an open mind and you'll have fun, too!

We had a fantastic experience!! Beautiful land, adorable animals and tent. We had a great time walking down to the creek, and feeding the pigs!! The goats were so fun to see. The tent was very clean and had all of the amenities pictured (even the S'mores bucket!!). I will absolutely be coming back here to stay. Thank you for everything!

We're situated just outside Trenton on 55 acres of gently sloping terrain featuring a wide creek and expansive grounds beyond the Big Oak, perfect for exploration. Lighting is provided by solar power or batteries. Tent sites have access to a water spigot, and there's a Port-o-let nearby. This is rural country living; our neighbors' livestock and dogs may make sounds like bleating, barking, oinking, mooing, neighing, squealing, whinnying, braying, or whining at any time of day or night. We are conveniently located one hour north of Dallas Fort Worth, just 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, and within 10 miles of Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham. Trenton is only five miles away. Several lakes are nearby including Lake Bonham, Lake Texoma, and the new Bois' d Arc Lake. There is a shared water hydrant for the campsites. For bigger water and easy access to Lake Ray Roberts State Park, head over to the Johnson Branch of Lake Ray Roberts which is less than 15 minutes away. We are located next door to 555 Vineyard and the Vineyard Tasting room. Also, check out downtown Valley View with local restaurants including Blue Bonnet Cafe, York N Ale, Hess Meat Market, and Firelight Vineyard just 7 minutes away. Edge of the Lake Vineyard is also 7 minutes away. Drinking water is available at the campsites from a water hydrant. No electricity is available at campsites. There are no bathroom amenities here. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.

Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.
