1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. We welcome you to come enjoy the seclusion and dark sky on a working cattle/exotic hunting ranch in the Texas Hill Country.  My great great grandfather established this ranch in the late 1870's and our family still lives here today.  We are located in Real county just north of Leakey, Texas on US Highway 83.  Our campsites are on the head waters of the West prong of the Frio River.  Our Grapevine Springs have continuous flow the year round.  You will enjoy the gurgling creek, hiking, swimming, solitude and our sunrises and sunsets, and big and bright stars in the night sky.  We have tall hills and hardwood trees, Spanish oaks, Escarpment Cherry, Black walnut, live oaks and other oaks.  We have wild animals; white tail deer, turkey, hogs and exotics and seasonally songbirds and butterflies on the ranch.  We are close to Lost Maples State Nature Area and Garner State Park.**Make sure your vehicle has plenty of clearance. Truck or SUV work great**

Cool spot near tons of Texas’s beautiful nature spots to explore . This camp has cool accommodations and shared community spaces. We stayed at campsite 1 and felt secluded and loved the clean tent pad sites. We also added firewood to our reservation and it was piled up nicely at campsite upon arrival. Great host.

Seco. campgrounds was so cute ! they have Wi-Fi with in the communal kitchen . The bathrooms are nearby and there are cute chickens and goats. Woody greeted us upon arrival and made sure that we were comfortable. I would def recommend this for a campgrounds close to Lost Maples

I had a great time and was the only guest for the two days I was there so Wilson suggested I stay at the “Main” campsite. It had an awning, tables, and everything needed for cooking and entertaining. Wilson is a solid guy, we had a great chat and enjoyed a beer. I highly recommend this spot. I’m an avid HipCamper and this one has became my favorite. Can’t wait to share it with my misses and friends. P.S. the site had some great trails for exploring.

Weekend Trip to Grapevine Springs Retreat

Had my son's boy scout patrol campout there this past weekend and had an amazing time. Wilson could not have been more hospitable and went above and beyond to make it a campout everyone would remember. He even guided us on a ~3 mile hike of the ranch and brought a friend with him to help the boys learn some new knots. The ranch is absolutely gorgeous and our campsite was perfect, nestled among a canopy of trees by a dry creekbed. Could not recommend this place any more, we will definitely be back.
