When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more. Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being. When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. We had a wonderful time staying at Private Glamping w/ Outdoor Shower at Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS. Our hosts were so kind and thoughtful, and the setup was excellent and had everything one needs for a very comfortable and memorable glamping experience. The hot tub was definitely a highlight for us. Despite a sudden cold front coming in, the camper was always at a comfortable temperature and we never felt cold at night, even with outside temperatures dropping below freezing. Thank you again to our generous hosts for a great stay in this little oasis in Bryson City. We look forward to visiting again.

It exceeded our expectations. The bathrooms were checked regularly and super clean. Tent itself was clean and well kept, the bed was firm and comfortable. We arrived after dark, someone met us upon arrival and escorted us to the campsite and made sure all the lights worked. Great relaxing experience, would recommend!

Picture this: Wake up in your cozy camper (very clean and comfortable bed) and hop in the hot tub (extra towels included), take a hot outdoor shower surrounded by fall leaves and head down into Bryson City for some coffee and breakfast. After that, spend the day hiking in the Smokeys, come back into town to explore some shops and breweries, then head back to your cozy trailer for a fire and to soak some more in the hot tub. That was our exact experience- even though it was about 50 degrees and raining by the evening, that actually made everything even more fun, hot tub included. This site is so unique, convenient, and well designed. You can tell the host takes pride in making it a perfect stay for everyone, with attention to detail (like putting out a Halloween themed basket with Kurig pods). She even refunded money for firewood we didn’t use. One note: the hot tub was set at 95 when we arrived, and after a few hours was only 97 even though we set it to 104. It took overnight to get up to temperature, but after that it stayed hot and we got plenty of use out of it.

The property was quiet and well maintained. If you want to unplug for a few days then this is definitely the place. Convenient to Maggie Valley, Waynesville and the Blue Rodge Parkway. I really enjoyed our stay! The only improvements I would suggest would be adding Plexiglass to close the glamping trailer in for the colder months so it could potentially be heated by a small electric heater or screening to keep the mosquitoes out during the summer. Our trip was the first freeze of the fall and the trailer got very cold! Luckily we had great sub zero sleeping bags and even a small electric blanket which helped tremendously. The moisture blowing in off the pond is really what made it a little uncomfortable. I have camped with my horses in very similar set ups for years and found these things to be super helpful. This glamping set up has electricity which could make it a little more comfortable for folks who aren't used to the elements. Great place and great hosts! Will definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at the Magical Resorts Groundskeeper Cabin! Mary truly thought of every detail when designing and decorating each space. The beautiful stained glass, cozy bedding, fire torches, and even the dishes made us feel like we were actually in Hagrid’s cabin! Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, the cabin is simply beautiful and so thoughtfully done. We have two younger children who absolutely loved it—they spent hours on the swings and the play area by the water and enjoyed feeding and petting the animals. One evening we visited downtown Haynesville and had a great meal at a local restaurant. We probably could have spent more time exploring the town, but we just loved relaxing in nature. Mary was so kind and quick to respond to all of my messages. We will definitely be back!

It was a very relaxing peaceful escape from my husband and I. So the weather was chilly there was a fire pit that was able to warm us outside provide us a relaxing atmosphere for preparing our dinner by the creek. the boho tent oh my gosh how relaxing atmosphere inside and out the decor was to die for loved it stepping back into that time was so amazing I loved it so did my husband we will definitely be coming back when the weather is warmer. Love the fresh eggs waiting for us when we arrived the firewood assembled out by the fire pit for us next to the picnic table, I was absolutely just so relaxing everything we could think of was there waiting. Fresh clean sheets blankets a heater. Very nice and the host for very accommodating for anything that we could ask for but not in the way give you your privacy at the same time. Thank you for a pleasant visit to your establishment we will be back.

John and Jenni were so nice, inquired about our arrival time, we arrived quite a bit later than expected, and they still met us at our campsite to make sure we had everything we needed.. The campsite was so peaceful! We took a hike right behind our glamping tent the next morning, the view is kind of blocked, but the sun twinkling through the trees, beautiful foliage falling around you, was very nice and serene! I recommend giving them a try! P.S. Clean restrooms/showers were a plus and the beautiful fresh cut flowers were perfect!

I stayed in the Dogwood cabin and it was perfect. The cabin was clean when I checked in and the bed (queen) was very comfortable. I had a pleasant and comfortable stay at Standing Bear! While I wasn't actively hiking, I got to enjoy the community of hikers who stop at this beautiful property on their way on the AT. I stayed in the private room top tree house and enjoyed the evening fires and open air kitchen. I was met with accommodating and generous staff ( Rodney and Grateful) who made sure I felt welcome and had what I needed. The owner, Maria clearly has a heart for all the people who come through. Lots of love for Standing Bear and I hope to be back as a hiker one day!

This property is primitive with no electric and has a camping style bathhouse. IT’s recommended for outdoor lovers and people that are not too needy. Hurricane Helene brought unforecasted changes in the land but the tranquility of the River remains. We have worked to restore as much as we could. As for us it’s still our happy place in the Smoky Mountains!
