this site was incredible. it was easy to find, the views were unbeatable and the amenities were a life saver. the hot shower was fast but appreciated, the dump station is convenient and there is a lot of nature to explore if you have the time. i will definitely be back!

Sunset Ridge near Del Rio, TN is a true hidden gem perched high on a ridge with sweeping 50-mile western views of untouched American wilderness. From towering 6,000+ ft Smoky Mountain peaks to dense pine forests, deer, bears, and classic backwoods charm, this spot delivers the authentic mountain experience. Like many Hipcamp sites, you’ll drive through a few “interesting” areas to get there, but it’s absolutely worth the short detour off I-40. Hurricane Helen repair work continues in the region, so expect minor delays—but nothing that should deter your stay. The site itself is well laid out with a reliable 50-AMP hookup (30-AMP rigs should bring an adapter), two properly placed sewer connections for easy access, and a well-pump water source offering around 15–20 psi. We found that perfectly adequate for daily use, or you can fill your onboard tank and enjoy a stronger 40–50 psi via your RV’s pump. A cozy two-person swing overlooks the valley and is perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset photos. The spacious gravel circular driveway provides plenty of room for multiple vehicles and offers simple, level parking. Nights were peacefully quiet, with only the sounds of the woods around you. The paved road network above and around the property makes for great short hikes and even better sunset views. A firepit, available WiFi, and open sky complete the experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking solitude, scenery, and Smoky Mountain magic. We will definitely be back soon.

Our stay at John's place at Sunset ridge was wonderful. Very private and quiet with a beautiful view of the mountains and, yes, sunsets. Easy in and out with room for two campers if you want to have a friend join. We highly recommend this site. When I asked for local suggestions they shared a great list. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.

We had a wonderful time staying at John's campsite and thoroughly enjoyed the absolutely incredible views!! We have a 45ft Class A Motorhome pulling a 25ft flatbed trailer carrying our full-size Titan truck and had plenty of room. We were a little concerned upon reading some people's reviews about the drive to the campsite so we unhooked the trailer from the rv prior to driving up the mountain and pulled the trailer with the truck to which we had no problems at all getting to the campsite. The campsite has 50 amp hookup, water, sewer and excellent wifi. Did I mention the impeccable views 😀 We surely hope to stay here again the next time we travel to this area. Thank- you for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise John. PS: I miss that Rocky of yours, he is such well behaved, sweet handsome boy!

Beautiful property with amazing views of the mountains. The host let me get some great drone shots. There is not much privacy there as you are in-between the hosts cabin and a neighbors house, as well as other campers on the property with 1 shared fire pit. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.

Blissful oasis! 😊 campground is well kept/clear for setting up ⛺️ and exploring hiking around the pond. Yet not over groomed, natural barriers between sites for privacy. One can really hear themselves think and rest. I was surprised to find hardly any pests like mosquitoes, guessing that's what a clean ecosystem must feel like. Camp hosts Melinda and Paul were welcoming and accommodating, and allowed us our quiet Zen experience.

Julie and Jonathan’s property at Hiker’s Rest is the perfect place to spend your time camping near the Smoky Mountains. They are incredibly kind and accommodating hosts. They mowed their lawn before we came, were consistently responsive when we needed advice about hiking or amenities, and incredibly attuned to our needs. They have a beautiful space with great views and a very clean toilet and shower, with wifi ranging around the property as well. 100% recommend staying here for a cozy, adventurous time. The tent itself was beautifully set up…… cozy, clean, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The best part was the host, wonderfully responsive, kind, and attentive to every detail. They made sure we had clear directions, checked in to ensure we were comfortable, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Tmobile full signal. Information on getting there. We pulled a 36 ft tag along trailer. It's very narrow one lane road last 1/4 mile. But no traffic hardly.

I contacted John before I made reservations with a concern I had. He quickly responded and I made my reservation. The directions to the property were excellent, we found it with no problem. Let me tell you, this place is fantastic! The view is spectacular! This is a very large lot with all hookups, fire ring, wood, picnic table and a wonderful wooden swing to enjoy the view. Thank you John & family for sharing this with us!
