And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.

Out little slice of heaven has a beautiful spring fed creek and two large fields to play in. The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish.
Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION: Located at 245 Durham St in McMinnville, the property covers 8 acres with frontage on the Barren Fork River. There is river access directly behind Smooth Rapids Grill and a short walk from the campground. We sell fire wood. We have a climate controlled bathhouse on site with restrooms and hot showers.
Tent sites 14,15,16,17, and 18 have regular 15 amp electrical hookups. The other tent sites are primitive. Travel Trailers and RVs will not fit in tent sites. Camper Vans or Small Pop Up Campers can use tent sites as long as the electrical consumption does not exceed 15 amps.
All of RV sites have 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups. There is a dump station near the entrance to the campground for gray and black tanks. RV dump service is available for a fee if you would rather us handle that for you.

There’s river frontage for fishing or kayaking. We have a full service restaurant on site. Plenty of trees for shade and hammocks. Minutes from Cumberland Caverns, Rock Island State Park, and ISHA. 50+ miles of Class 1 moving water in the county perfect for kayaking with shuttle service to access points available.
VERY IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE: We are a small campground that is centered around our kayaking business and restaurant. During our peak season (Weekends in May, June, July, and August and the three key summer holidays Memorial Day, 4th of July. and Labor Day), there will be heavy activity on the campground. Our kayakers park their cars and fill up the common areas until 5 PM then the common areas empty out for the night. Those nights also come with somewhat of a "party" atmosphere. We're kid friendly, but be aware of those peak times. Any other time of the year, it's mostly quiet and half full at best. We don't get negative reviews often, but when we do 99.9% of the time it's on a weekend in the summer or a holiday weekend. We want to set accurate expectations. If you're expecting RV resort type with tons of privacy, this will not be for you

We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.
I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.
I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience.

Out little slice of heaven has a beautiful spring fed creek and two large fields to play in. The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish.
Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION: Located at 245 Durham St in McMinnville, the property covers 8 acres with frontage on the Barren Fork River. There is river access directly behind Smooth Rapids Grill and a short walk from the campground. We sell fire wood. We have a climate controlled bathhouse on site with restrooms and hot showers.
Tent sites 14,15,16,17, and 18 have regular 15 amp electrical hookups. The other tent sites are primitive. Travel Trailers and RVs will not fit in tent sites. Camper Vans or Small Pop Up Campers can use tent sites as long as the electrical consumption does not exceed 15 amps.
All of RV sites have 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups. There is a dump station near the entrance to the campground for gray and black tanks. RV dump service is available for a fee if you would rather us handle that for you.

There’s river frontage for fishing or kayaking. We have a full service restaurant on site. Plenty of trees for shade and hammocks. Minutes from Cumberland Caverns, Rock Island State Park, and ISHA. 50+ miles of Class 1 moving water in the county perfect for kayaking with shuttle service to access points available.
VERY IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE: We are a small campground that is centered around our kayaking business and restaurant. During our peak season (Weekends in May, June, July, and August and the three key summer holidays Memorial Day, 4th of July. and Labor Day), there will be heavy activity on the campground. Our kayakers park their cars and fill up the common areas until 5 PM then the common areas empty out for the night. Those nights also come with somewhat of a "party" atmosphere. We're kid friendly, but be aware of those peak times. Any other time of the year, it's mostly quiet and half full at best. We don't get negative reviews often, but when we do 99.9% of the time it's on a weekend in the summer or a holiday weekend. We want to set accurate expectations. Loved the land it was beautiful and peaceful. Sites are spread out and no one it right beside you. Stayed at camp kitchen and yurtle and we had 2 large tents and we were spread out. The camp kitchen had everything you need with lots of seating. Grant and Becky were awesome hosts. Loved Grants stories.

Loved camping at South Suck Creek Camp with my sons. We stayed in our 24' RV and had no problem getting in and out safely. The views were incredible, and the campsite was super quiet and private. Lots of space to explore and enjoy nature. It’s also a quick drive to several great hiking trails. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to escape for a few peaceful nights.

Beautiful serene camping with a 3 acre stocked pond with bass and brim. We caught a brim and 2 big bass off little bait fish we caught from the pond. Very quiet only 2 other campers but didnt even know they were there. At night all you hear is nature and all the frogs croaking in the pond. Bathrooms were quality outhouses with sinks. Pond was full of life. Give it time. The paddle boats were an awesome bonus for our 2 kids. Life jackets are included. We felt safe enough to let kids run around the entire pond. All the camping spots are awesome. But ours said it was the best view and it was DRY CAMP #2. Highly recommend! We went in the beginning of March. Trees were still bare but made the views better. If you went in summer you would have a full canopy over the 2 dry camps. Comes with a firepit with a grill grate over it to cook and spatula. A trash can but bring your own trash bags. All the wood you can think to make a fire is right there to use for your camp. Bathrooms are within a few yards by the camp. Bathroom are stocked with toilet paper, paper towels and hand sanitizer. Plus this white powder in a bucket with a shovel your supposed to put over your "#1 or #2". Makes it not smell. Bathrooms also had automatic lights as well. Overall we will be coming back. Nearest grocery or food is 20-30 mins out. But there is a few markets 10 mins down the road.

I have never had a more relaxing time. the private waterfall was well worth it!! plus, I will be buying a new shower head for my house because the treehouse had the BEST shower I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend

Beautiful and unique. The rock formations were amazing. Felt like something special. Exploring around led to many overhangs where you could camp as well. Nothing I have seen before.
The views for me were beautiful. Not sure what it would be like in the summer. Site was clean but around I did see some trash. I tried to pick some up..
My site at #8 was exactly what I wanted. Firepit already set up at the site. Climbing the rocks to get a better view was fun. Did I say beautiful.
I dont recommend anyone in a 2wd vehicle. You do need some clearance.

We had a great time at Randy’s place and will definitely stay again when in the area. The pond was clean and beautiful to wake up next to. The paddle boats kept the kids entertained for hours. It was all around a wonderful stay and we highly recommend.

The Ole Place is a beautiful and quiet piece of property. We stayed in the cabin and it had everything we needed to base camp to be able to go hiking in Savage Gulf. The kids thoroughly enjoyed paddle boating around the lake and having a camp fire. Such a great place that we are fortunate that Randy shared his land with us.

Glamping at the treehouse was amazing! We loved that the treehouse was so well thought out and we got to enjoy it during a sunny and rainy period which was cool. Sitting out by the porch was a great time and hiking to the waterfall (that you can also hear) was a whole experience! We would love to come back!

Only one con: We were not told that the attached shower room was shared by the entire campground (there are tent/rv sites around the pond), so we left our things in there. One of the friendly campers brought our stuff to us. Also the shower never got hot, FYI, but the little heater in there was great.
We so enjoyed our stay and wish it could have been longer.
