Peaceful Hills Retreat, a family owned business, started in May of 2017. It all began when Jennifer’s brilliant brother booked a two-story home through Airbnb for Jennifer and the family for a week in the Carolinas. Their Airbnb vacation was a great experience, and she loved having a kitchen to cook in, while traveling with her large family. She gladly said goodbye to tiny hotel rooms. Linda and her daughter, Jennifer realized they desired to run a BnB, and watched the scattered pieces beautifully fall into place. Peaceful Hills Retreat is also a wedding venue. There are three beautiful spots for a lovely outdoor wedding. The waterfall site is a favorite. This is the view from Sunny Shire, which is campsite #2. It has a large fire pit and a picnic table for your use. It is in a very peaceful and quiet location. There is no cell signal here. If you need to use the Wi-Fi, you may park in the parking lot at the host’s cabin. Firewood is $10 a bundle and can be delivered to your campsite if we are notified in advance.

I've been using Hip Camp for two years, and this was by far the most beautiful place I've stayed. I was met by the hosts who helped me back in and make sure everything was ready for me. Perfect level pad with full hook-ups. Only 2 sites, and I was the only one there. Very peaceful with a really pretty forest with trails behind my site. I highly recommend this location. I hope to come back someday!

Riverside camp site was awesome! Well groomed and very secluded. Directions were easy to follow. I believe I stayed at the very last site and felt like I owned paradise. Cleared areas are much larger than needed, which creates a ‘safe’ piece of mind in such a remote area. The gravel road in could use a bit of TLC if you’re heading to the back forty, but it forces you to go slow and take in the beauty. Coyotes got to yippin around midnight, but that seems to be quite familiar in these areas. Highly recommend it if you are looking to get away from all that bothers you! Don’t forget your fishing pole!

Dan and Mandy were excellent hosts. We camped in campsite 10 which was big enough for two families with dogs. There was plenty of firewood to be gathered. Dan and Mandy were responsive, extremely accommodating, and checked in the right amount. They are very passionate about their campground and it shows. The bathrooms were well lit and fully stocked. Look forward to coming back here with the kids! There is a swimming hole on site but the water was low due to lack of rain recently. It was still knee high and felt refreshing. The kids loved walking through the water. The star gazing at night was incredible. There is no city lights. Will definitely come back!

An incredibly picturesque site! We brought paddle boards and kayaks and paddled to the other side of the river each day—an easy and enjoyable trek. We picked the second site and it had perfectly spaced trees for hammocks and took hammock naps daily. We enjoyed the dark sky so much at night and could not believe how many stars we could see! We were thankful for clear nights because the night sky was absolutely breathtaking. We loved seeing the barges go by day and night—infrequent enough that it was an “event” every time we saw one but enough that we got to see a few while there! Pro tip—don’t run out of bug spray, even if it’s the last day and you’re just packing up and heading out. The bottom of my legs were so itchy for a week afterward—definitely not mosquito bites, I’m not sure what but me but it bit a lot! All said, we will absolutely be back, fully stocked with bug spray!
